Asian Pacific Heritage Month

4-ON-4

CO-ED BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

Official Rules

¨       Each game will be played to 9 points, loser’s out, with a 10-minute time limit. At the end of 10 minutes regardless of score, the team leading will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie after 10 minutes, the team to score next will be declared the winner.

¨       Each basket will count as one (1) point.

¨       All participants are encouraged to watch the final games.

¨       The tournament will be limited to the first thirty-two (32) teams to submit their application and entry fee to the Campus Recreation Office, Taffner Fieldhouse, Rm 105. Applications are due by 11pm Friday, April 21, 2006.  The Tournament will take place on Monday, April 24, 2006 at 5pm.  Check in time is 4:30pm.

¨       Tournament format and schedule will be determined by the Campus Recreation Department based on the number of teams entered and facility availability.

¨       Maximum roster of five (5) players per team.  Once the tournament starts no roster changes will be permitted. Only players on the roster will be eligible to play.

¨       After every missed basket or change of possession, the ball must be taken back behind the foul line before a shot can be attempted. If a team scores a basket without taking the ball back, the basket will be disallowed and the offending team will lose possession.

¨       The ball must be checked after each made basket and dead ball. The offensive team must pass the ball in following the check.

¨       The referees will call fouls.  The referee’s calls are final.  No Arguments!!

¨       No foul shots will be attempted with the exception of free throws resulting from technical fouls.

¨       TIME-OUTS - one (1) twenty (20) second time-out per game.

¨       ABSOLUTELY NO TRASH TALKING - technical fouls will be assessed in the following manner:

      1. Technical Foul Issued = 1 free throw and the ball.

            2. 2nd Technical Issued = ejection from the tournament.

¨       SUBSTITUTIONS may be made on dead balls or after made baskets by alerting the referee.

¨       ONLY PLAYERS WITH A VALID ST. JOHN’S ID CARD WILL BE PERMITTED TO PLAY. ANY TEAM THAT IS UNABLE TO FIELD A TEAM DUE TO MEMBERS NOT HAVING VALID ST. JOHN’S ID CARDS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE TOURNAMENT AND THEIR ENTRY FEE WILL NOT BE RETURNED.

¨       Once the pools/courts are announced please be aware of your team number so you can follow the game schedule.  Stay around the court you are scheduled to play on.  Teams must be warmed up and ready to play their game within one (1) minutes after the conclusion of the previous game.

¨       Any questions or problems should be directed to the Campus Rec. Supervisor on duty.
