    What's Your Spiritual Type?

    Spiritual Survey

In answering these 10 questions, you can both discern more clearly who you are, and discover new avenues for God's creative spirit to work within you.

    Take our spiritual survey

    You are a Lover

LoverLovers are people who naturally connect with the Holy One through their emotions. They feel deeply that no matter what they do or do not do, they are held safely in the embrace of God’s love. They focus on the generosity, mercy, and compassion of God and believe that even when judgment or justice seems called for, God’s response is one of tenderness. They seek to relate with the Holy One through inner reflection. They tend to be more emotional in their prayer and in reading the signs of God’s presence. If they were to meet God face to face, they would want to open themselves completely to God’s intoxicating love and show their love in return.

One such person in the Bible was Mary of Bethany. She had a tenderness for Jesus that led her to acts of love for him even when she might have been ridiculed for her unorthodox behavior (John 12:1-9). She had the confidence that she was being invited into a space of love and being surrounded in that divine embrace gave her the desire to show her deep love in return.

If you are a lover, you will find prayer and meditation likely ways to deepen your love relationship with the Holy One; the prayer and meditation section of explorefaith.org may assist you in this. They offer guidance as to when, where, how and why to pray, as well as tools for meditating with art, music, journaling, poetry and more.

Lovers may find it more difficult to think about the more theological aspects of faith. To develop this part of your spiritual life you may want to include reading and reflecting upon explorefaith.org’s Explore Faith section, as well as Following a Sacred Path, which explores diverse types of spirituality, and the many reviews in explorefaith's Books section.

    Faith Over Fear

In a visual world like us, we are taught that seeing is believing. We want proof.

Although practicality has its place, God calls us to faith.

The spiritual realm is where we function, before the physical realm.

There are a host of things we can choose to believe God for.

Or we can choose the other way- that of fear.

If God is Deliverer, Savior and Healer, wouldn't we want to put our faith in Him?

Many times, we find ourselves being swayed by towering waves of crises, and it seems we'll drown in no time.

In desperation, we scream our lungs out to Jesus: "Lord, please save me! I'm dying over here!"

And He is quick to rebuke the winds that threaten our peace. Jesus is our Savior.

What's assuring is that He is also in our boat. He knows what we're going through. He feels every wave.

We just have to call out His name. After all, the winds and waves are subject to Him.

We may not know what lies ahead, but there is only one wise thing to do - put our faith in a God who cares and loves us like no one else can!

    Prayer:

Lord Jesus, Thank You for being my Savior! My life is in You!

Forgive me for my unbelief. I put my faith in You today, and everyday. Amen.

It's in The Valleys I Grow

A fellow member from the group Purpose Driven Life on Multiply shared this wonderful poem..

It's in The Valleys I Grow

It's In The Valleys I Grow.

Sometimes life seems hard to bear,

Full of sorrow, trouble and woe.

It's then I have to remember

That it's in the valleys I grow.

If I always stayed on the mountain top

    And never experienced pain,

I would never appreciate God's love

And would be living in vain.

I have so much to learn

And my growth is very slow,

Sometimes I need the mountain tops,

But, it's in the valleys I grow.

    I do not always understand

Why things happen as they do,

But I am very sure of one thing.

My Lord will see me through.

    My little valleys are nothing

When I picture Christ on the cross.

    He went through the valley of death;

    His victory was Satan's loss.

    Forgive me Lord, for complaining

When I'm feeling so very low.

Just give me a gentle reminder

That it's in the valleys I grow.

    Continue to strengthen me, Lord

And use my life each day

To share your love with others

And help them find their way.

    Thank you for valleys, Lord

For this one thing I know,

    The mountain tops are glorious

But, it's in the valleys I grow!

    REMEMBER...

The shortest distance between a problem and a solution

is  the distance between your knees and the floor.

The one who kneels to the Lord can stand up to anything!

    Believe!

"And he did not do many deeds of power there because of their unbelief." -Matthew13:58

A Christian author once wrote that "Expectation is the breeding ground for miracles."

One of Jesus' requirements for a miracle to happen is faith or belief.

In today's reading, the Bible categorically states that unbelief was a clear obstacle for the power of God to work. So how do we get faith?

"Faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ." -Romans 10:17

We have to soak ourselves in the knowledge of Christ. We have to read the Bible. We have to pray and listen to the Holy Spirit. We have to seek godly counsel.

Faith will come from hearing God's Word and that will cause us to believe.

When we choose to believe, our lives are being changed, healings take place, and blessings are being experienced.

If you want God to manifest His power among you, cast away all manner of unbelief and believe.

    Prayer:

Jesus, allow me to experience Your power as I release my faith in all that I will do today. Amen.

    Just for Laughs

I got this joke from a friend.. Just wanted to share it with you guys..

A father said to his 5-year old daughter, "Did you know that the only word in the dictionary that starts with "SU" that is pronounced as /sh/ is sugar?

The daughter just smiled and said, "Sure?"

Haha! That's one reason why I love children and why I love being a kid at heart..

Always wear a smile! Laughter is the best medicine..

Have a wonderful day! God bless!
