I'm at Starbucks waiting on Tommy... Figured I'd spew out a few thoughts here. I've been thinking a lot recently about owning up to things. I think I've been coasting by for far too long and it's time to take on some of the things I've promised to do... this meaning things that come with being a Christian. Yes, I realize we are saved by grace plus nothing. We don't HAVE to do anything. But Jesus does mandate us to live a certain way in living a life honoring God. These things would include caring after the poor, the orphans, etc. I feel as though many things we (as a people) don't do, are because we've never seen them done first. Relationships for example; we rarely see biblical, Godly relationships lived out. Discipleship, for example (thank you, Mark Treas) is passed by because we so rarely see it lived out the way Jesus intended. Anyway, Tommy's here, so I'll wrap up but basically I think it's up to us to change this. I think we can't let it go by for the next generation to deal with...

So God's pretty cool. I can't seem to ever get over how much God loves me. Actually I'm not sure I've even ever fully grasped it. I'm not saying that with any arrogance, but the complete opposite. It's hard for me to believe that anyone, much less a perfect Being, could love me unconditionally. Literally as I type, I'm wondering this...

I know this is cliche, but I hope everyone's Christmas was great. Mine sure was. I got to blow stuff up (fireworks), and play a few crazy versions of Chess. I'm so cool.
I got Wicked tickets! Holla. And a bunch of poetry books. (Again, I'm so cool.)

I heard this thing by Donald Miller (which is a little preview of his new book, which if this was any indication, should be incredible).. but it was about living your life as if you were a main character of a story. (Which I found slightly ironic considering he's said in an older book that something he had to finally realize was that life wasn't a story all about him, but this is in a different context). He's saying if people were to read your story, would they be bored, would they be inspired, etc. I am really not good at re-telling what I heard, but it was really, really good. It just made you think about how you treat people, and what you're 'doing with your life', and all that. I highly recommend it, it's actually on Rob Bell's church's site, (marshill.org/teaching), it's called "Story."
I'll give anyone who listens to it a dollar.

So Riley Armstrong isn't famous enough for me to find lyrics online of this song... which sucks because he's so good and it makes me sad that no one is buying his stuff... Anyway, this song is pretty self explanatory, but I couldn't help but think about this the other day. You'd think because of the New Year, but it's not really. A year ago Saturday something happened that I really thought I'd never get over. It really made me sit down and fight with God about what my priorities are in life, and what His will even really means. Anyway, I've obviously made it through that whole situation considering I'm here today. In between, I've graduated college, got a 'real job', and am about to move out of my house. So yeah, 'a lot can happen in a year.'

So I have nothing intended on saying, I'm just going to write. I've recently found that I'm obsessed with, absolutely in love with: an amazingly written song. Examples include from my day today: "The Last Time He Saw Dorie" by Copeland, "Equally Skilled" by Jon Foreman (yes, the lead singer of Switchfoot, he has a solo EP out that's definitely worth the 5.99 itunes purchase), "Snow Day" by The Honorary Title.
I found out there's a tribute cd to Bob Dylan with a bunch of newer bands, which is kinda cool, I got Something Corporate doing "Just Like a Woman" and Anberlin doing "Like a Rolling Stone." I cannot wait to see:
