Started a new job about a week ago, in some support group for derivatives trading. Everyone seems too busy to teach me anything, so I basically sit there day in and day out doing those darn online courses for the internship program. Still not too sure what my group does, but I know it involves solving the problems that happen with the software the traders are using, and writing patches to fix it. I did send out my first "official" work e-mail today .

2 more finals to go, then I am glad to say I will finally attain that alumnus status. Woohooo!

Transit strike: At first I thought it'd be kind of cool if there was a transit strike, because it's not something that happens everyday, and let's face it, a change like that would give everyone a jolt. Now I'm thinking, how am I supposed to get to work??? I could work from home except I hear people get logged off the network every 3 minutes because so many people are on, and if I did work from home, what would I work on? I haven't gotten assignments, so I'd have nothing to do. So...in case the LIRR (which is charging an extra $4 for in-city fares during the strike) is too messed up, and/or I can't figure out how citi's shuttles are working...let's just stay home and go shopping

I don't know why living at home is so hard now. Everyday, I come home from a long day at work or school just to hear my mom bitch about one thing or another. At times, I feel like taking a tape recorder and recording all of it, and then play it all back to her sequentially so that she knows the only things coming out of her mouth are complaints and griping. I really miss the solitude of my dorm. I'm just not made to be around people.

So it's been a very long time since I updated...been really busy with work and sleep . Trying to adjust to the whole sleeping and waking up early thing. It's so hard after you've been used to staying up til 3/4am at school. I'm doing a little better nowadays, I average going to bed around 1am. Am hoping to get it down to 12 by August . A lot of stuff has gone on in the last 2 months. The most pissed off thing was the person who broke into our apt and stole the X-box and PS2 and all those games on the 2nd night before graduation! The really sucky thing was most of us were in the apt at the time. I hope the person/people who took it will get what should be coming to them, karma-wise at least. At least Blockbuster was understanding about the lost rental.

Started working full-time now. Trying to rake in the overtime, but it's just so hard when you want to run out the door at the chime of 5pm. In the Fall, I think I'll be taking 3 classes on Tues/Thurs, so at least I'll still be able to work a lot. I reaaaallllly hope they hire me after I graduate, or at least let me join some other group. I don't think I quite fit in with my current group, I'm a little too reserved, while these people are all outgoing funny people. I kinda have to work at it, but I think I'm doing better at cracking stupid jokes . The bad thing about working is that my parents are starting to make me pay for some of the bills. It makes it seem like I can never save any money, cause I have no willpower when it comes to spending. On another note, I recently made my first stock purchase! It was very exhilarating. But not the part where the Compliance people at work had to call me about why I didn't clear it w/ them and asked if I had inside knowledge. As if. Probably won't buy anything else for a while, dislike having to clear everything w/ them, and the $24.95 commission fee Citi charges is a little too much for the puny 50 shares I bought .

HIGHLY looking forward to my trip to Orlando on jul 23-31. Still not sure which theme park to grace w/ our presence , did the whole disney/magical gatherings/epcot thing last yr...we're thinking of either Islands of Adventure or Typhoon Lagoon. Not too keen on the latter, prob have to walk around in bathing suits all day. Other than that, looking forward to swimming too...I hope I'll at least be able to manage to swim this time. I'm doing better now, can hole my breath and paddle until I run out of air...just need to work on the whole coming up for air thing.

Another highpoint of the summer is the US Open in August. This'll be the first time I actually get to go...woohoooooo! Gotta try to catch up with all the current "stars" playing....it seems in the past year or two, all these new top-ranking people came up that I never heard of. Haha, but I still think I'll come off looking like a tennis newbie. Oh well.

I really like this song...set it up as my new xanga song, at least til I tire of it.

NAKHON PATHOM, Thailand (Reuters) - In an era of chiseled supermodels and bizarre weight-loss diets a Thai beauty contest celebrated women with a bit of flesh Sunday when heavy-weight contestants battled for the Miss Jumbo Queen crown.

The annual contest, which aims to raise awareness and money for Thailand's dwindling elephant population, allows full-sized women weighing over 176 pounds to show weight-conscious Thais that big is beautiful.

This year, 24 women participated in the contest at the Samphran Elephant Ground and Zoo, 38 miles west of the capital Bangkok.

"I want to show people that just because I'm fat doesn't mean I'm any less beautiful or talented," said 18-year-old winner, Tarnrarin Chansawang, who weighed in at 242 pounds.

Tarnrarin, a bubbly business student and tuba player from Bangkok, took home several prizes, including a Jumbo-sized trophy and $50,000 baht ($1,270).

Judges also looked at other talents of the contestants who mesmerized hundreds of spectators with raunchy dance numbers and revealing costumes.

In keeping with Jumbo tradition, a side award for Miss Jumbo Universe went to university student Thanchanok Mekkeaw for weighing in as the heaviest competitor in the pageant at 400 pounds.
