| Merry Christmas...MERRY CHRISTMAS to ALL and to ALL a GOOD NIGHT... | | |
| PLEASE PRAY!!I got this e-mail tonight from one of my oldest and "special-ist" FRIENDS (we grew up together in the Philippines) who graduated from Cedarville and just completed a semester teaching in China...she and her family want desperately to be together for CHRISTMAS...please pray that this will work out for them and that GOD will allow them all to be together...i know i take spending time with the family for granted...my friend's family hasn't been together for a long time as her parents do mission's work in another country...please pray for a MIRACLE...thanks! From Katie: Dear praying friends, This is not a usual update from me and while much has happened since the last time I wrote, I just wanted to share an urgent prayer request with you so you could be praying with my family. As you know, I travelled to Thailand to meet up with my parents and Kevin and Kraig to go to the Philippines for Christmas. Well, we had to spend the night in the Singapore budget airlines terminal last night and then when we tried to check in this morning, they noticed that my mom's passport expires in February. We did not think anything about this because we still had two months and we aren't staying in the Philippines that long anyway. But apparently there is a new international law that says you can't travel with 6 months of your expiry date. In other words, you cannot travel if your passport expires within the next 6 months. So, after much hassle, it was decided that my dad, Kevin and I would go on ahead on our flight to Manila. Kraig stayed with my mom in Singapore to go to the US Embassy to see if they could get some sort of emergency extension. We arrived in Baguio city a few hours ago after landing in Manila, then travelling 6 hours up here. We have just found out that embassies don't do the emergency extensions anymore and they will not let my mom enter the Philippines....So....that is the situation we are in now...we are praying that there is some sort of loophole we can get through or that she would be able to at least get back to Bangkok, so she doesn't have to spend Christmas in Singapore by herself. Then we can try to get back to Bangkok too. Maybe not by Christmas, but soon after. We are not sure, but Kraig will probably take his scheduled flight here tomorrow. He is the one most desperate to see home again, so we think he should come to the Philippines even if it is only for a couple days. This is all a nightmare and is really sad for us all as we were all SO looking forward to a nice, family Christmas all together at HOME. It looks like God has other plans for us...Even if we are not here in the Philippines, we would at least like to be together for Christmas or at least most of Christmas break. We'd appreciate your prayers for this situation. Please pray that my mom would be able to get here for Christmas or that if not, that we would all be able to get back to Bangkok again and be together. Thank you.
Love, Katie
