| It's been a couple weeks, I think I'll update. It seems like the only time I update is when I'm sitting in a computer lab in Alford before or during "Technology in the Classroom" :( We are working in Microsoft Publisher today.
I'm getting a little tired lately...I have to leave for Dayton View Academy every morning at 6:45 for my field experience. Working in an inner-city charter school is much more difficult that I had anticipated. It makes me very thankful for the schools that I went to growing up. I wish that the kids in my classroom would have had the same opportunities to succeed as I had all through elementary and high school. It's kinda funny...I know I don't look old, but I didn't think that I looked incredibly young until yesterday. One of the boys at school (an eight grader...who was of course bigger than me) started hitting on me thinking that I was a student. It was kinda funny once he realized that I was supposed to be a teacher...he stopped talking mid sentence and then walked out of the room quickly :)
I've spent a whole lot of time in the Library this past month. Parly because my unit is kinda noisy this year and perhaps because I've just had a lot of homework to do. I still have a really hard time sitting quiet in the library. It seems like whenever someone comes to my table to stop and say hi we end up laughing about something--but you have to stiffle your laughter which just wants you to laugh even harder.
On a positive note, raisins are back at chuck's...isn't it amazing how the little things can really make your day??
I've been playing phone tag with amanda and amy for the past 6 days or so...until about 8 minutes before class. I was so excited to actually hear amy's voice, even if it was muffled because i was walking outside and the wind at cedarville is back full force. I had forgotten aobut the dreaded wind...
I am going to New Orleans over Thanksgiving Break. I'm not sure what we will be doing yet, but I think I am going to find out next week. I'm really excited to be able to help out. If anyone has already been and has some advice....I'd love to hear it.
Well...I better go pay attention....Ciao for now!
| Fall Break is over :( It's kinda sad. I wish I was still at home relaxing and hanging out with friends and family. Being home was great--I was able to go to my own church again, see my Sunuday School class, play piano, make dinner, back some cookies and Magic Marshmallow bars, shop, then shop some more, celebrate Emily's birthday, see "Just Like Heaven" and lots of other stuff. It's funny how time seems to fly, yet when I came back Sunday night it felt like I hadn't seen some people in so long.
This week is kinda crazy with tests, midterms, tutoring, and meetings, so I am looking forward to these projects all being over.
Sitting in the library last night I was thinking...why is it that you always want to laugh when you aren't supposed to? Or when everyone else around you is quiet? Quotes of the night..."please...cover that up...you're causing me to stumble"--jon wagner referring to the subtitle in a physics book. "There's a right way to eat donuts and a wrong way to eat donuts"--jon banks trying to convince us to drop all our math/science classes and become criminal justice majors. And the best quote of the night--and e-mail that i recieved from my logic prof--(And yes, some students still want to take this half of the midterm)-"Don't forget to e-mail me if you want to take that crazy hard and time consuming Take Home portion of the midterm exam. If I don't hear from you tonight you will be taking that wicked hard, at least 40 hrs of really hard cryin' all night math exam." -- crazy math majors
This was a boring post--sorry :( We're making power point project in tech class, so I'm multi-tasking.
| After way too many hours of studying this weekend, Heather and I decided we needed a break...so first Heather went to facebook and left me some awesome quotes...but more importantly we went and visited my xanga from last year....We reminisced about the good old days--but really, no one else undestands them but us. If there was a webcam in our room--people we would think we were psycho, but they'd visit it often just for the entertainment.
Heather and I also both laughed until we cried on two separate occassions today...i think this shows the hectic events of college life are finally getting to us. But if I was going to cry there's no one else I'd rather be with than my roomie...(and a bag of homemade chocolate chip cookies)...
Let's see what else...Jack Johnson (aka jackson) is signing his cd for the fourth time tonight...
I planned on writing more but right now I can't concentrate more than a box of rocks....have a great night!
| I'm at CDR Radio right now...It's Ingathering 2005 and I'm volunteering to help them take pledges today. Actaully since it is the first day of the station raising support, it is Praise and Prayer Request Day. It has been lots of fun so far...we got a free t-shirt and CD, ate lunch and lots of M&M peanuts, played golf with a plastic cup, made new facebook friends and the like. More importantly, it has been so neat to hear peoples requests and blessing through the phones and on the radio. I would encourage each of you to volunteer to help next year!
This week has been really busy and it doesn't seem like it will slow down anytime soon. Hopefully I'll be able to go home this weekend too, but we shall see...college plans are always up in the air.
Tutoring this afternoon, making Printy War T-shirts, RA meetings, physics projects, logic homework, education reading and much more is on the agenda for tonight....wish me luck!
| Happy Thursday--or really Happy Almost Friday! Weekends are amazing!
Time seems to keep flying faster and faster lately. It's already the last few days of September. Where is the time going?? It's even getting chilly outside. I love wearing sweaters, but a few degrees warmer would be alright with me.
I'm really excited to go home in a few weeks. I think our group is going to have a great time going downtown. Even the drive will be great--road trips are so fun...If any one else wants to go, just let me know. The more the merrier.
AWANA was really cool last night--it is so awesome to have a chance to spend time with girls who want to be at church and learn about God--because it is their only opportunity to. I know that I have often taken for granted that I have grown up with godly parents who have given me so many opportunities to grow in Christ. At AWANA last night I was explaining a few verses to one of the third grade girls and she was so amazed that God loved her so much! It truly is amazing! It was such a great reminder and encouragement to me!
I got pictures in the mail today of my sisters--I was pumped. First, it was real mail. Second, they were cute pictures...and Third, it seems like they have changed so much in the 7 weeks that I have been gone. It's crazy!
Time to get ready for dinner...ciao!
