  • The Weekend, etc.

You are in no way entitled to read this. It is quite a bit. I just wanted to write it down so I wouldn't forget. That is all.

    Friday:

Holly accidentally called me (in an attempt to call Rachael I assume) and woke me up. I had determined to sleep until the light or my hippocampus revolted. Obviously, that didn't happen.

Dad and Jordan and Grandma arrived in Abilene around 1, a good two hours before Aunt Ann expected them. Luckily, they were hungry and I met them at Grandy's to buy her a little bit more time to get the last minutes things at the house taken care of. (Dangling participle, I know.)

I made Jordan stuff all of his weekend necessities in a trash bag so we could take it to my apartment before we helped Uncle Pat move stuff. Which, after playing a couple rounds of MarioKart and watching the first episode of Dr. Who with Badger, we were picked up to do.

We helped put together boxes (I tore one) and then packed them with books and took them down on the dolleys to the truck. When Dad and I took a load, he let me ride the dolley back to Uncle Pat's former office. It was fantastic.

Cousin, Jordan, and I worked until we got incredibly hungry. Then Aunt Ann came to get us to go eat. Dinner was delightful homemade sub sandwiches, perfect and cool after a long day of the heat and dust of moving.

Jordan and I went to get snowcones with friends around 9. Jordan got tiger's blood and cantoloupe mixed together and called it a "Heard about it." I got a pickle snowcone. Yum!

Then it was MarioKart time! Allison and Dave came over to battle it out with the brother and me. My brother is very good at video games. We played Scattergories later and I felt more secure in my skill at that than racing games.

I slept on the couch because Jordan is too tall to fit on it comfortably.

    Saturday:

Dad's call woke me up. It was back to the new office to help unpack. But first we went to Cousin's to eat lunch. When we got to the new office, the twins (Daddy and Uncle Daddy) asked where Melissa was? Apparently she was home and we never knew. After we went up to the see the 10th floor where Uncle will eventually be officed (like housed, you know) we drove back to pick her and the foodstuffs for the twins' lunches up and bring them back.

We prepared the dads' (same as the twins) sandwiches to order and then jammed to showtunes as we helped put Uncle Pat's books on their proper shelves. Jordan and I investigated his office's messed up lock before we left for the evening. But not until we proved to Dad that you could access the 20th floor.

Back at the house (which is unfortunately not a ranch or there might be horses) we rested and ate some yellow watermelon. Then Jordan and I went back to my flat to clean up, as we felt icky from another day of dust and sweat. Another Dr. Who episode with Mary and we went back to Cousin's for dinner with the family and Allison. She tasted yellow watermelon, which we all agree at first looks a lot like pineapple, for the first time.

Then it was off to see Jekyll and Hyde with the complientary tickets Allison was gracious enough to give to us. As we got out of the car and walked toward the Paramount, down the street and around the corner, the clouds let go of the rain they had been holding all day. And not just rain, but grit too! By the time we got inside, Allison, Cousin, and I had been gritted by a gust of wind. Jordan was unscathed, seemingly because he helped a man rescue his hat blown off by the same burst of air.

The play was entertaining, but long. Afterwards, we stopped to buy ice cream toppings from United and added them to the homemade vanilla ice cream waiting for us at the house.

We finished the night off with two rounds of the sentence game.

    Sunday:

I set my alarm and I heard it, but it didn't effect my behavior very much. I just turned it off and went right back to sleep. Good thing Dad called to ask me about church or we would have missed it.

Jordan got ready and packed his stuff before we headed back to the Pat, Inc. residence to collect those who would be going to the early service at Crosspoint with us. Turned out it was just Dad. Cousin had stayed up far too late to make it out of bed in time.

Jerry was back at church and came up to say hello. I quickly pointed out that I was with my dad and not my uncle and introduced him to Jordan and Dad. When he told everyone that I had my dad with me, they looked very confused, especially Kirk and Ryan. I finally told them that he is a twin and would draw them a family tree if they needed me to later.

After church, we stopped to pick up chicken for the whole family and while waiting for the others to get back from the service at Crescent Heights, watched VeggieTales Land of Ha's.

We ate and I said bye to my grandma, dad, and brother, then went home to take a very pleasant nap.

Waking up, I realized that it was the day of the ArtKids summer cookout. Which was much fun. Tony cooks very well, and Linda brought homegrown tomatoes (most of which I brought home.)

Allison, Dave, and I went to Walmart from the cookout to get tropical punch Kool-aid, my favorite "Allison's flat" beverage, before starting our LOST marathon for the evening. Matt joined us as I mixed it up.

One episode later and with no progress on my forensics paper, Dave insisted it was snowcone time. So he drove us all to Cajun Cones. I deviated from my usual flavors and got a mountain blast. After stopping by Bueno so Dave could get burritos we went back to watch another.

The Kool-aid had chilled in the fridge and we all grabbed a cup. I was the only one who had trouble keeping it in my hand. I spilled it three times! It was ridiculous. Allison gave me a quasi-sippy cup to avoid spilling again.

I worked a tad on my paper for forensics before going to sleep.

    Monday:

Watched the last episode on the first disc of Dr. Who with Badger before class.

Class was uneventful and following I went to the art building to clean the photo lab. I called Rachael and talked to her about her upcoming birthday as I scrubbed the trays or crystalised chemicals.

Went to Walmart to pick up my new contacts and grab some sustenance for the week and a universal remote for our new, larger, TV. It used to be Mary's parents', but they got a new flat screen. The old TV is going to Mary's friend.

Walked with Allison around the ACU path and then we came back and watched Mouse Hunt with Mary as I researched for my paper.

Hammered out a rough draft while Allison and Mary played a bit of MarioKart, played a little myself, and then typed it up. A little over 3 pages. Perfect!

    Today:

Finished my PowerPoint for forensics and printed out my paper in the art office before class. Two people gave their presentations today and the other eight of us will go tomorrow. I was ready, but glad I didn't present today.

After class I worked in the slide room for a bit.

Read a little more of Deja Dead, the first novel by Kathy Reichs, otherwise known as the real life Bones.

Allison texted and invited me to Tuscany's to hear Bob's tales from Peru. She came back yesterday. I accepted and we all hung out there looking at pictures and listening to her stories. We fit in one round of the sentence game before it closed.

Allison and I talked before we went home.

    Finit!

  • It took me a long time to fall asleep last night so I turned off the alarm and promptly climbed back amongst my twisted sheets. My dreams had been strange.

I ate my leftover beef and broccoli from Panda for lunch and watched a bit of I Love 2007 before walking with Mary over to the art building. Spencer rushed into the painting room while we were there, a white blur on the ground, quickly followed by Steve whistling for him. (Spencer is a dog, for those of you who were not aware.) Steve chatted with us before going to work on something. I went upstairs to play with more HDR effects.

Maegan and I were so disinterested in class today that we spent a while texting each other. Sitting in adjacent chairs.

Got our tests back. I made an 89. Almost and A. Bone test was pretty easy. I think I got everything right. If anything, I was the most sceptical on the last two questions, determining gender and ethnicity from skulls. I'm so tired of death.

My glass etching stuff came in today. I'll start experimenting with it soon.

I watched an episode of Psych before heading to Allison's for pancakes and LOST. It was fun, not without its hiccups, but overall a good night. I helped Allison with the dishes before coming home. I like talking to my not-so-treeish-as-me friend.

Tonight I am turning off the alarm.

  • I shaved my legs today and wore my brown plaid shorts. It's such a nice feeling to have freshly shaved legs.

Had a test today. I think I did alright. Not great, but alright. Bone test tomorrow. I'm praying that goes well.

I tested out HDR (hyper dynamic range) imaging today. I think I might like it, but I'll have to try it on something other than fake flowers.

Mary cooked dinner for us tonight. I have a kind and talented flatmate. She's also patient with my idiosyncrasies.

We joined Allison to walk the path and then came back to the flat to watch Arrested Development and drink fruit punch. Allison has no more tropical punch Kool-Aid and my heart is sad.

Badger and I played 4 rounds of MarioKart before retiring to our rooms for the night. Being 1st place is a nice way to end an evening.

  • Woke up to Jason Mraz this morning. Quickly went back to bed for another hour.

Rachael called and we talked a bit before I got ready for class.

We watched a documentary about the Body Farm in class today. Delightful decomposing bodies.

Maegan didn't play Nintendo yesterday because I learned today that she had never played before. We changed that. I taught her how to play MarioKart and the secret move in Super Smash Bros. Dave and I texted back and forth as Matt and Maegan had their own text conversation. The boys were are work. Texting us. Silly.

Maegan and I put a giant teddy bear in Mary's desk chair. She loves it but has not yet decided on a name.

I took a nap at around 5, watched a bit of Scrubs, made myself some broccoli and spaghetti, then played Badger in a couple races of MarioKart.

Bible Study was intense tonight and it might have been good that Cousin didn't go because if her head hurt Sunday it might have exploded tonight.

Allison and I walked the ACU path after my small group. I like walking with her. It's the best time to talk. After, we watched an episode of Psych. Brilliant!

I Love 2003 was on after Mary finished up the last episode of Bones Season 1 on DVD so we watched until now. It is 1:14 a.m. by my clock and I am finally headed to bed.

    It's hot in my room.
