I'll miss all of the people I have been with for so long! Ar Revior!

On another note, I actually won a national writing competition the other day! I won with a comedy piece on first time roller coaster riders. Interesting, no? I thank God for the opportunities this has opened up and for his continued grace. I went to the mailbox the other day and there was a little package addressed to ME! So I ripped it open in my usual careful manner, and yanked out...a little box of nice chocolate. Well, my Holmes-y side went to work. No return address, no note, no signature. Nothin'. I squeaked a few times and fell to analyzing the handwriting. I guessed Stephanie first, it looked a little like hers. But it wasn't. And, when I called her, it turns out that 4 other girls in my drama group have gotten these anonymous things...the guys all smilingly deny it was them.

Anyhow, whether boy or girl, whether mother or friend, thank you. I can barely count to four, much less think of four random things!

Only kidding.

   1. I love to dance when I'm alone. Almost a hip-hop type dance, although I look more like Mary Poppins having a full-body dry heave set to music.

2. I'm a writer. I have finished 1 full-length novel and have written countless poems and essays...just for fun. So that fact still counts as weird.

3. I used to hate kids. With a passion. No, seriously. Then, one day, I just gave up and figured: Kids like me, I might as well just thrown in the towel and like 'em right back.

   4. I'm more boy than girl. I love to fence, play softball and tear holes in my jeans by diving for the ball in volleyball. I got my clock cleaned in soccer last year and stunk so I'm working every day with a ball and testing footwork.

I hope this absolves me of my duty...and I hereby do tag...Tim, Stephanie, and ummm...haha! I have gotten far too used to the lazy three-worded updates on facebook.Anyhow: I planned to write this epistle on Sunday night. But apparently God had other plans. The violent windstorm that swept through Amelia left us without power of any sort. Dad hooked up our generator for a while, but the scene before it was one of mass chaos and general panic. Ahem:

"Lauren? Lauren, keep talking so I don't run int.." *crash* (pause) "Oww!" "Should I keep talking?" "Kate, find a candle." "This?" *feeling around blindly) "No, Kate, not find the handle, a CANDLE!" "Oh. This?" "Yes, now some matches." (The whole caravan slithers through the dark toward the kitchen) "Yowch! Jeepers, ya'll no need to scrape me off on the doorpost. Yeesh!" "Sorry, Lauren, almost...WHOOPS!" *CRASH* (moans ensue) "Am I dead?" "Haha, very funny. Somebody get up." "You get up, I'm on the bottom!" Let us draw the curtain of charity over the rest of the scene.

Obituary: Aleigh McKinney

Aleigh from Raleigh, beloved pet and unique friend, passed this morning around 8:00 am. Aires

The play "Little Women" by the accomplished Farmville Homeschool theatre group was a smashing success all around. The sets were delghtful, and the actors and actresses in general were a joy to behold. The attitude of joy and hope was perfect for the season. One actress in particular, however, caused no great joy, and was in fact, billed as "Needs to get a day job". I believe it was the one who played "Meg". Her lines were overpassionately delivered, and her love scene, the most stirring scene in the second act, was soppy beyond belief. Aside from her dreadfully scary part as Hagar, and her masculine speeches as Don Pedro, she STUNK.
Do not advocate such plays as normality, ladies and gentlemen, but it is entirely worth it to see this one if you can ignore that monstrosity doodling about up there. Pshhh...actresses.

So there you have it, ladies and gents. Pictures coming soon from Little Women, and may you fare well!
