Now she's 24,
ready to begin.

To let her past be past and start to live.

(p.s. my niece and I now share the same birthday.)

Listening

Last year, Lake Pointe was a satellite location for the Willow Creek Leadership Summit. I had no idea what I was in for (<---and that sentence was pretty much the theme for my first year working at Lake Pointe) when the conference was played live via satellite in the auditorium.

At that time, I couldn't help but hear and see everything in the auditorium from my little office space, so I was hoping that the conference would be easy to ignore.

It wasn't.
That was the best part about it.

While it's aim is to teach people with the spiritual gift of leadership, people who are not overflowing with manifestations of that gift can learn how to recognize good leadership, and so be a better follower, or supporter. I'm still chewing on things I overheard last year.

Lake Pointe is hosting it again this year, on August 7th and 8th. If you've ever considered going, you should definitely go. If you have never considered going, you should consider it.

You should really consider it. Really.

...bands play in grocery stores now? really?

I don't waste your time

I wrote an entry and let it sit for a few hours, and returned to find that it was crappy.

So, I didn't post it.

There you see it, faithful readers: I value your readership enough to make sure I am not wasting your time!

I do have one announcement: My band will be playing at Poor David's Pub on July 24th. That's a lot closer to the general area of most of my friends than any of our past gigs have been, so, all of you closet country/southern rock fans (Margaret I am looking at you!) should definitely come out and have some fun at that one!

I shall return to blogging...
...when I actually have something to say.

Children

Few things anger me quicker than children being harmed. That's why I'm still a big proponent of the Pro-Life cause, but another pet peeve of mine is China's one-child policy.

So, this got my blood boiling this morning: Thanks to one single disaster causing a school building to collapse, the town of Juyuan faces the prospect of losing an entire generation.

Is anyone else with me on this? Doesn't that make you feel sickeningly powerless?
