Catch up

So much catching up of uni work that I haven't written anything for the last 2 or 3 weeks.

Been so long that i didn't know xanga has changed its entry layout, yahoo mail has changed its signed-in page, and etc.

But once again prove that I can stay away from the internet for as long as I feel like. Muahahhaha...has no grip on me.

Confession of a Simple mind

Excited and refreshed after obtaining my next Murakami novel. Is like my train and bus rides will continue to be as they are now...and I no longer have to be on the prowl for decent material...not until I finish my current steamy affair with the short stories and move on to THE ELEPHANT VANISHES.

Muahahaha.

Song constantly in my head: Anant La Pluie

Like a random but somehow, chained reaction, this song has spur me to return to my former world of doodle and brewing(books).

Picking up where I left off in yr 12.

*Come to think of it, this entry was random, just as the last entry was a spur-of-the-moment thing that I should have taken more time to brew over.

My b/s on b/s-ing

More interesting stories from the Murakami realm.

But I was asked: do you really get it?

Sorta for some, and the others just by-passed me like a speeding motorbike.

The point is, do I need to get absolutely everything? Is this like one of those the 'Emperor's New Clothes' situations where you have to claim you get it if not you are perceived as stupid?

Come to think of it, there are alot of 'Emperor's New Clothes' scenarios...like listening to a person perceived as an 'intellectual' "b/s-ing". Or is it pure b/s, or are we really obtuse?

Maybe after some time, when one is perceived as an 'intellectual thinker' that one has to live up to the title and give the peanut-crunching crowd what they demand: more b/s.

(I don't really know where this is going, but I'm not condemning the large quarter of the community who do b/s-ing as an indoor sport either.)

THE END.

Currently Reading
Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman
By Haruki Murakami

LOST IN TRANSLATION

Currently engaged in Murakami's Blind Willow Sleeping Woman.

Or is it Blind Woman Sleeping Willow.

Seriously flex your brain muscles.

I have always taken an instant preference over novels than short stories, due to usual issues such as long term investment (like emotional investment); living someone elses' life than your own, etc.

But recently, I have taken a liking to short stories. Esp Murakami's. It's so unsettling, some of the metaphors used will have to be rethink and weighed again, best done in your private reverie on a train or standing up swaying on a bus.

Such as:

Can the May wind be liken to ripe fruits that burst out stinging seeds?

Do old ppl smell like mouldy rain?

Riddle-like similes enough to last you 24-7 private mental fun.

Or maybe everyone else really liken mouldy rain smell to old ppl? And that Spring winds do sting secretly?

Or maybe everything can be traced to the translator's fault of inadequate expressions?

a little sunshine of my life

left today

i glimpsed its last rays

and unwillingly waved

because no one can capture sunshine

despite once glowing with warmth

energy

love -

my sunshine has gone today

i bade it farewell

i will miss it sorely

i will reminisce sweetly

i bade you 'good day'
