my xanga name

So someone saw my xanga site and thought I was narrow minded to be called "sportsderekz." They thought my name was cheesy. I kinda laughed, because that was my whole point in picking that name.  I was thinking about what could be the most obvious, plain name for a guy...........and sports had to be in it. 

I am in Akron with my brothers, but I am on the verge of leaving for full time ministry.  I am checking out booming idaho, where my best friend tim lives, and checking out going back to africa.  who knows????

WE GOT TO HELP OUT THE POOR AND SUFFERING!  The suburbs really are not in the New Testament much.  Besides Paul's family background, Luke being a doctor, and maybe Mark having money, Jesus and his crew kept it simple and probably didn't even own homes.  Not to say we shouldn't own homes, but our suburban lifestyle is ridiculous.  The Bible says in deutoronomy that SODOM was destroyed for its laziness and spoiled lifestlye, ignoring justice and the poor.  Not because of its sexual sin. Most of the minor prophets, especially AMOS speak a message of helping the poor and fighting injustice (see the later chapters). God says in Psalms and out of Jesus' mouth that Christ came to help the poor and oppressed.  Most American Christians have no clue about the injustice and racism in courts like Cleveland/Akron, and in places like Africa.  Wake up people.  You are not taking your 4 bedroom house and SUV into heaven.  I pray that I can live below my means and give much money to other people. I guess I just want to make sure I dont live in excess and have so much junk in my house like we do now. 

I dont want to be like many cedarville people who know the scriptures and get into discipleship and teaching and are active in their church, yet never really put the New Testament idea into action. I mean the people who are leaders at school and will pray with you and head to seminary, yet they are afraid of bad neighborhoods. hmmm.

so, uh.....I guess it has been a long time since I updated this thing.

I needed over a year and a hlaf to gather some kind of thought for another post.  Just kidding.  I doubt anyone in the world will read this.  But I figured I'd put something down now.  I got bored and read some other people's stuff.  Everyone from college is married.  what the heck!?!

Being single has been fun.  I want a family....yes.  But, it seems like most Christian college kids make marriage the biggest deal ever and force it as soon as they can.  18, 19, and even 20 year old people are not grown ups like I thought when I was younger.  I am glad I waited.

hmmm...maybe in a year and a half.......I will post another blog thing....and maybe ill be married.  who knows.  God is good and I cant wait to see Him face to face.  I just hope that a lot of suffering people will be going there with us.

what is the deal with this xanga junk????  I have like 60 things I need to do in the next two days.  not kidding.  But yet I check xanga and write on here.  It is a lust for attention and I dont like it. 

I dont like writing about my day in hopes people will read it and think of me.  Instead, I enjoy people who use this stuff to spark discussion or thought, and also it is a great way for people to be funny.  Like Mike Clutz.  He combines both.  However Jessica rae, we are all getting tired of your ranting and raving.   (  ;  Other xanga people paid me to be the voice that finally gets that out there.

Ok, im playing.  not flirting.  cause flirting is the downfall of so many men in leadership here.  Has anyone else noticed that?  It is hard to find a good student leader who doesnt mess around with flirting.  That goes for me as well as anyone.  Does anyone know how or when I can find the appropriate balance of smiling and having fun with people...and also times of serious discussion?  I love to joke with people...absolutely love it, but does it reflect insecurities?  Who is a social butterfly on this campus but does not feel tempted to flirt with the opposite sex? 

"ON bended knee" was one of the greatest songs of our generation.  Thank you Boyz2Men.  Did they ever become men?  Aren't they like 35 now? 

That bended knee might be hard to get off of..............especially when arthritis kicks in for those guys.

God has hit me lately with something.  I gotta speak it soon.

our society has become more "tolerant."  More "open MINDED," yet....ironically.....more close-HEARTED.

If you watch closely, you will notice certain walls of conviction and moral protection falling everyday in our society.  What we clap for and applaud is one thing......but beware of what YOU CELEBRATE these days.  And would someone tell the football commercial people that beer is not really sold to the happy mid-30 year old hot white people who are ripped and good looking.
