| Whaddaya know. We're still working on this old thing. Had a script writing meeting on the 30th. Made limited progress. Stacier has decided she needs to see an episode of the Real World as research. And yes, it is relevant. I've realized that keeping people informed of every little bit of our project is just getting you familiar with it. And it really is better if left a surprise. So from now on, I think we're going to make a movement to inform you only of progress, rather than the actual work done.
June 30th Progress: Finished scene 1, scene 3, part of scene 2 (need to rework the beginning of it) Notes: Need to watch Real World for research (Stacie's job, she was better at that part of the script anyway)
July 12th Progress: Changed big ending number to Guns'N'Roses song Notes: Need to make lyric edit?
| Alright. Last major obstacle avoided. I think.
Stacie and I finally came up with a solution we liked regarding the likes of the family Polonius, Laertes and Ophelia. So we can continue with the script. I hope. Still, I don't think it's going to be finished this year in all reality. Unless we work on it over the summer. Or we become majorly obscenely productive. Which maybe we will. We're unpredictable like that. Biznatches.
In other news, You're a mean one, Claudius
| I'm disappointed by the lack of response, I must say. I'll just pretend you guys were so amazed by our brilliance, you were at a loss for words.
Yes, precisely.
Here's another song that Stacie and I remodeled for our uses. It's really the crowning glory of the lot:
(to the tune of "Hey Jude" by the Beatles) Hamlet, don't feel too bad Take your dad's death and make it better Remember don't let them into your head Or you'll be dead, and Claudius the winner
Hamlet, don't be afraid You were made to go out and kill him The minute you decide to let him live Then you begin to side with the villain
And anytime you feel the pain, Hamlet, refrain Don't carry the world upon your shoulders For well you know that it's cool to play the fool By filling your world with a little murder
Na Na Na Na Na Na-Na-Na-Na
Hamlet, don't let me down You have caught him, now go and get him Remember to get him dead in the heart Then I will start to feel a bit better
So let blood out when you stab it in, Hamlet, begin You're waiting for something motivating And don't you know that it's just you, Hamlet, you'll do The moment you need is a matter of waiting
Na Na Na Na Na Na-Na-Na-Na. Yeah.
Hamlet, don't feel too bad Take your dad's death and make it better Remember to keep them out of your head, Then you'll begin to make it Better, better, better, better, better, better, ohhhhhhh, YEAH.
Na na na, na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na, Hamlet... Na na na, na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na, Hamlet... (repeat 9 times)

the cast, from left to right. back rows: king hamlet (on the horse)*, gertrude, claudius (with the two heads)**, ophelia, polonius, laertes, osric, gravedigger number two, and fortinbras (on the horse). front rows: hamlet (with the sword), ninja villainess, guildenstern, marcellus, rosencrantz, barnardo, horatio, and gravedigger number one.
*he is also the ghost, which makes sense. since it's his ghost. **he has two heads for a reason. to be explained later.
We've edited all the songs, so lyrics are good to go. With the exception of the Opening Number. Which still technically doesn't exist. Minor complication. Anyway, here's one such edited song. The real version is pasted first, the changed version follows:
Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light Those days are over You don't have to sell your body to the night Roxanne, you don't have to wear that dress tonight Walk the streets for money You don't care if it's wrong or if it's right
Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light Put on the red light, put on the red light Put on the red light, put on the red light Put on the red light, oh
I loved you since I knew ya I wouldn't talk down to ya I have to tell you just how I feel I won't share you with another boy I know my mind is made up So put away your make up Told you once I won't tell you again it's a bad way
Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light You don't have to put on the red light Put on the red light, put on the red light
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gertrude, you don't have to sleep with the king tonight Those days are over You don't have to bow before the king's might Gertrude, you don't have to wear that dress tonight Calling him your honey You don't care if it's wrong cause it's not right
Gertrude, you don't have to sleep with the king tonight Gertrude, you don't have to sleep with the king tonight Sleep with the king tonight, Sleep with the king tonight sleep with the king tonight, sleep with the king tonight sleep with the king tonight, oh
I loved you since I knew ya I wouldn't talk down to ya I have to tell you just how I feel I won't share you with another boy I know my mind is made up So put away your make up Told you once I won't tell you again it's a bad way
Gertrude, you don't have to sleep with the king tonight Gertrude, you don't have to sleep with the king tonight You don't have to sleep with the king tonight sleep with the king tonight, sleep with the king tonight
notice the blooming Oedipus complex in the second to last block of lyrics. Stacie will be giving you lucky people some of the pictures she took of the finalized versions of our cast later (like the complete one at the top of this entry). And in small installments. Wait anxiously for it dammit! ... I don't really have anything to say, I just realized that if I didn't tack something on, the latest two updates would both have ended with dammit. Oh wait. That was a close call.
PS! jenn and i could really use a crown, so if you have one you could give/lend us, we would love you forever. and your name would get to be in the final credits.
