Samantha and the Giant beanstalk Scratching Post

Samantha was sad.  She was at loose ends.  The furniture in her castle was finished.  She summoned her slavewoman to open the royal gate.  Out in her kingdom, she wandered restlessly.  Around the corner, she heard digging sounds.  Sidewinding her lithe body she practically flew to the scene.  Who goes there? she demanded.  It is I, the Wandering Vole, he replied.  What are you doing? Samantha demanded.  Haven't you heard of The Secret? He asked.  No.  No?  Tell me!  He played her the movie on his IPod.  Sam was stuplified.  Was it that easy? she asked.  I have an IPod, don't I, He said. So what are you digging?  I am moving into my new home.  The one I had a picture of on my dream board and forgot about for a couple of years.  This will look just like it.

Huh, she thought to herself.  I am going to ask my Genie for a Royal Scratching Post.  One that reached all the way to the heavens!  She promptly closed her cat eyes and imagined brushing against it, rubbing her fine face in it and testing it with her long claws.  This made her very happy for a change.

The very next day, she ran to the royal garden.  Nothing.  The next week, Nothing.  She began making plans in her head to have the Vole executed  No, she would do it herself.  But behold, the next morning:

  • StorySlut's Featured Question of the Week:

How much would you pay for a Haircut?

How much would you pay for a kick-ass Haircut if your stylist really listened to what you liked, helped solve any challenges you were having, recommended just the things you needed to make your styling easy, and made sure you knew the optimum time to return.

How much would you pay for all the above, plus a scalp massage?

  • What is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?

I have an old clunker car, but no car payment which helps now that I am self-employed.  A few years ago my tailpipe pretty much rotted off.  I was worried that I was carbon monoxiding myself and any passengers until I made enough money to get it fixed.  I mentioned this in passing to the owner of the studio where I was working and his friend said "give me the keys, I will have someone who I have work on my commercial vehicles look at it, he owes me a favor anyway."  I was embarrassed and said I would take care of it and there was no need to take my car to him.  He insisted and it was easier to just give him the damn keys.  He was gone less than a half hour and said the guy looked at it but didn't have time to fix it.  I said that was fine and thank you anyway.  A week later, the owner of the studio asked me how my car was running.  I said Ok I guess, I was just ignoring it till I could fix it.  He said to go look at the tailpipe.  His friend had called earlier that morning and asked if I had said anything about my car.  Unbeknownst to me or the owner until that morning, his friend really had had a brand new tailpipe installed the day he borrowed it.  I never noticed it!  I drove all week with my window cracked and my radio turned up and was totally oblivious to the fact that it was fixed!  Talk about feeling happy and shitty at the same time!  The man refused to take any money from me (or any sexual favors! just kidding)  and according to the studio owner, he just goes around helping people like that.  (This is pretty much related to the previous featured question about a Good Person.)

About Me

  • LOVE to be entertained. Earliest memories are sitting with my Uncles and their friends rapturously listening to their (B.S.) stories. Love telling stories and love hearing people's stories, hence "storyslut". Also into Acting (another way of telling stories) and going to Plays. Reading almost any kind of book and trying my hand at writing but not very confident about it. Also like to knit, and pretending to 'get organized' with my life. My world however is my 5 year old nephew, he is the best thing in my life and I am learning so much from him. Things like Unconditional Love, what I Believe about Life, and of course, being In the Moment.
