| | write this for the sake of not having to keep telling people about it... this weekend the youth group that i am working with for service practicum went on a staff retreat at whistler. we carpooled up there, and i had two other cbc students in my vehicle. Jeremy Forbes and Jon Rendall were riding with me. On the way back from whistler on sunday, just as we were getting into Vancouver, traffic stopped. I slammed on the brakes, but i didn't have enough time to stop. I smashed into the back of a guy driving his boss's mercedes. I am going to stop the story right here to tell you that no one was seriously hurt, although Jon got plenty of dust in his eye from the airbag. Because our vehicle only had three in it, we also had extra luggage from people in another vehicle. So the three of us, with the luggage of about 5 and a half people, waited for a taxi on the side of the freeway with the cops. finally the cops decided it would be better if we waited at a gas station, so the stuffed all the stuff in their car (two guitars and stephanie's big duffel bag rode on top of us). then they left us to wait at the gas station. after about an hour, Jon started trying to hitch rides for us from anyone who happened to stop at the gas station. then he started trying the station across the street. we ended up getting directions from a friendly gas station attendant to the skytram (about a ten minute walk, which was longer with the extra luggage). Each of us paid the $2.25 to ride as far as the skytram would take us (Surrey). In Surrey, we caught a bus (still using our tram tickets) to Langley. While on the bus, Jon was called the phone in the HR/RA office in the lounge using Jeremy's cell phone. Alex Peters came and picked us up in Langley, brought us to Wendy's to get something to eat, then brought us back to school. We were very blessed that none of us was seriously hurt. I'm fairly sore, but am feeling much better today. My insurance company is already taking care of things. In the meantime, I am without a vehicle, but am feeling very blessed regardless. |
