I believe that IT is a powerful tool that can assist in the efficient operation of the society, and as IT secretary I intend to fully utilize this tool for the benefit of its members.
If elected for this position, I will make major changes to the way the society is run, through the introduction of IT into our activities. First and foremost, I will develop the webpage which we now possess (www.whks.org), by adding more information and news of the society's events. For example, I will update the webpage with upcoming events, sports slots, accounts, oponion polls and so on. I will also create a forum, whereby members can directly contact and discuss any ideas with the committee; I believe that this will make the committee more open and accessible to its members, and would also improve communication within the society. I also have plans to maintain a database (including photos and videos) of the society's events, and to make it publicly available online (and also through DC++ on campus).
I have taken a 1 year course on HTML, and have had 6 years of experience since. (This is one of my recent webpages: www.s-warwick.com). I have basic knowledge of Javascript, though I have never used it extensively. As IT, to me, is only an interest, and I have not had very specific training in this respect, I may not possess sufficient specialist knowledge, but I believe I can and am very willing to learn any new skills I would require to perform my duties.
If I am elected, I promise to do my best for the committee and the members, and to continually improve every aspect of the society through the implementation of IT. Please give me your support. Thank you.
