 Strong, responsible, dependent
they call her with pinprick voices
their words fall on deaf ears.
Cruel, insecure, and incompetent
the gong rings soundly
vibrating though her whole being.
Why the difference, why the mask?
she asks herself
as she dips her brush
into a new layer of paint.
