  • Update

So I've been doing physical therapy for a week.  It seems to be helping.  Pain is going down (but then, that may be the vicoden lol), and I can feel my leg getting stronger already.  PT is sorta hard...the first day, it was easy; they put me in a pool the first time, after doing a sort of diagnostic therapy thing.  Then he showed me a couple of exercises he wanted me to do at home.  Then, I went back yesterday (after a two day break).  I went straight to the pool and did the same stuff, but more of it, and then we did the exercises he had showed me the time before, plus a TON more.  He gave me two more pages that he wants me to do at least once a day.  It's hard, but I'm doing it all.  It took me by surprise how fast he moved me up, though...

Anyways, what have I been up to?  Prom was last weekend.  We're moving north about 30 miles next weekend.  I leave for Austin in the morning; I have state solo/ensemble competition Monday.  It's gonna be SOOO much fun!!!  Graduation in less than two weeks; I'm valedictorian, so I have to make a speech. I'll post my speech when I get back from Austin for ya'll to look at and make comments on...

I start college in August.  So, I'll keep ya'll up to date on that new adventure, too.

BTW, if any of ya'll have Facebook, come find me :)

  • Doctor's Visit

Seven months and four doctors after my fall, we finally found one who thinks he knows what's wrong with my knee.  So, here we go...

minor damage to the cartilage and condile
    loose PCL
50% muscular atrophy in the quads
    major bone bruising

    Now, in English:

my cartilage and bone knob right at the cartilage are hurt a little
    I have a loose ligament
half of the muscles in my thigh are unusable
I have mucho bruising on the bones in my knee

Now, what are we going to do about it?

PT in the pool twice a week starting ASAP
be patient and wait for it to heal

I've been taking ibuprofen in large amounts for the past seven months.  What I didn't know was that ibuprofen has been proven in lab tests to slow bone growth.  Which is probably why it hasn't healed yet, like it's supposed to.  So, the doctor took me completely off of ibuprofen, and gave me a prescription for Vicoden (sp?).  He said about 3-6 more months, with the PT and everything else I've been doing.  A long time, but at least we know what's wrong...

  • Prayer Request

Please keep my mother in your prayers.  She was in the hospital a few weeks ago with pneumonia, and now she's out.  She is 36 years old and has been smoking since she was 13 years old, and her lungs are now completely black.  She has COPD (Chronic Obstruction Pulmonary Disease), and now she has to have breathing treatments.  She still hasn't stopped smoking, even with the doctors warning her that she would be dead before she's 40 if she doesn't stop.  She also does drugs, and has severe back and neck problems (after several falls and several surgeries over the past several years, the doctors have told her that there's nothing else they can do about her back, except burn the nerves so she doesn't feel the pain anymore).  She is also bipolar, and her husband has a drinking problem.  Also, pray for my 16 year old brother, who is in that house, dealing with the stuff every day, and who I'm afraid will fall into doing the same things.  Please pray for my older sister and her husband and son, that they have made it out of that situation, and are now living on their own.  Pray that God will bless them and help them through.

    Thank you.

  • Help?

Every time I've asked questions on here, you have all given excellent answers and advice.  Once again, I am asking for your help...

You are 36 years old.  You have a 22 year old daughter, who's married with a 3 year old son.  You have a 21 year old stepdaughter, who is about to be married.  You have a 20 year old son whom you've never met.  You have an 18 year old daughter who's about to graduate from high school.  You have a 16 year old son.  You have a husband of 16 years.  You have a living mother and 2 living brothers.  And then you die.

    What do you miss?

For example:  Your daughter walking across the stage at graduation.
