Back from Cornerstone

Cornerstone was a great time this year although it was just us and not any other family.  We got a primo spot next to a tin building under a tree... it was awesome!  I felt a little bad because we stole the spot of Brad and Mary Culver from Ontario Canada.  They are a couple of wonderful "C-stone types" who we enjoyed getting to know.  I think they are somewhat well known around the festival.  Brad led two seminars, one on Micro Missional Faith Communities which I attended and Mary led one as well.  They are kind of the parents of the underground tent.  I also noticed a worship service at "The Anchor" that was touting that Brad Culver was speaking.  Cool. There really wasn't any rain and it never got too hot... all in all a great week despite my atrocious job of packing.  I left the poles for our Tentmaster tent home and we couldn't put up the screen tent because one of the poles was broken last year..... Let's just say that my trip to Walmart netted the Darth Vader 6 person tent the kids slept in and a very nice dining canopy tent that worked great.  We packed up on Saturday night and got home around 2:15 a.m.  Everyone was pretty excited about sleeping in their own beds.  I got 3 free books on the first day the exhibition tent was open. I'm reading "Deadfall" by Robert Liparulo and really enjoying it.  Today we all unpacked and it pretty much took all day to get the pool looking good.  It's nice to be home.

Summer Mode...

Tonight I just finished my book.... pretty good stuff really.  I  was listening on my computer to the Twins lose again for the sweep against the Sox.  It was kind of painful. We've had way too much rain... the pool is overflowing.

Rosie's Birthday!!!

Today is Rosie's Birthday.  She just opened her presents from her siblings... very nice.  James and Bethany Sullivan stayed over last night.  The girls put up my tent and slept in that.  The pool is pretty much ready to be used.  J and I watched Little Miss Sunshine last night... pretty funny.  I thought it was quite good and there were some interesting parallels with our recent experiences with Benaiah and the Measure 5 orchestra.  Thursday, they played at the Coronado for the Mayor's Arts council awards.... it was kind of  a pain.

Everyone is home!!!

The rest of the family got home yesterday just fine.  The year is wrapping up.  Tonight we picked Ben up at Borders since that is where we had him dropped off after his Measure 5 rehearsal tonight. J and I had our end of year faculty dinner at Lino's.  At Borders we picked up "The Day  of the Jackal" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off".  I think Ben and I are watching Day of the Jackal tonight.

Very nearly the end of the year...

Tomorrow is the last day of finals and graduation day.  I'm struggling with my final prayer and blessing for this class. They are such a great bunch of kids and they were all in 7th grade when I came to Lutheran 6 years ago so they have always been around.  Benaiah and I are getting kind of bored without anyone else at home.  We hit a few garage sales on the way home but didn't have much luck.  After spending $70 on groceries yesterday we don't have anything to eat.  I did get a lot of odds and ends done, took the kids' school pictures to Woodmans to make copies since I finally got the CDs and copyright release forms.  Watered all the pots and plants but it's going to rain tonight anyway. Last night we watched (I mostly slept and Ben went off to study) To Catch a Thief....  The night before we watched 16 Blocks which wasn't too bad.
