| Dear friends,
Today is Christmas Eve. I was feeling nostalgic while back at home in Bakersfield. I remembered that I had a xanga and that I no longer bloged. I guess the proliferation of social networks have evolved and streamlined into facebook and myspace exclusively with a couple of straggling diehard xanga'ers.
Blogs are kinda funny in the first place. I mean, it's like a diary or journal of your thoughts, yet you know that there are people reading them. While it's YOUR journal and your thoughts, you gotta be careful about what you say because people can perceive your thoughts in a way that you did not intend. This especially is true when someone is "venting". I think the real reason we blog with the knowledge that others are reading is because deep down inside we want to feel as though people care about us. We want to know that other people want to know how we are doing and what's going on in our lives. It's almost a way of talking to your friends and keeping up with them without actually talking to them. I remember when some people would argue that they can say whatever the hell they want on their xangas because it's a personal blog. They were only lying to themselves if they really wanted believe that. Afterall, if they felt that way, they would simply "blog" in microsoft word.
I started xanga at the beginning of my freshman year at UCI. Well it's now over 5 years later. Not many of you are active on this anymore. Only 3 of my subscriptions actually blog still. I'm contemplating shutting this down too and going all out on myspace blog. It's not the same though. I definitely will miss keeping up on everyone, but you know, it's not fun anymore when nobody blogs these days. I also think it's mostly asian college students that blog. Just another example of how the cyber culture has evolved.
Anyway, this will be my final post for any of you die hard Xanga folks. If you ever want to contact me or just say hi, that would be great. Here is my contact info:
