The Locker
(This is my story about how some-one changed my life and yet never knew they did.)
It was my senior year in highschool, my college years that was shortly ahead looked very promsing. It happened at a public highschool, of which I do not know the name. I had just finished a wrestling tournment of which I had taken first place.
After my match, I need a breath of fresh air so I decided to walk alone around the campus to just view the secenary.I came across a row of lockers..nothing special just the plain, old lockers that you see at every public school, but except for one difference.
Upon appoching the lockers I saw figures, either like a football a baseball or a track shoe was on a lot of the lockers. Looking closer you could see their names and their postion for the team that they obviously played for. Nothing out of the ordianary about that so far.
I walked further entering the gym and a huge Red billboard nicly illustrated by a few students read, "Congradualations Kate Summors, Captain of the softball team." I KNEW that name! I had come across it a week eariler while reading Who's a Who on Highschool atheltes, she was ranked 3rd in the nation, a stellar athelte with a promsing furture the article had written. I kept walking wishing to see more of campus as I still had plenty of time to kill, as the wrestling matches were sure enough still going on. Two more turns to the right or maybe It was a left and I came across another similar hallway of lockers, as before some of these lockers had figures of sporting events that the students played in.. Again everything seemed normally well until I came across locker 1184.
The figure on the locker was a softball, although hardly visible because a even larger paper was almost compelty covering it. However, the paper that was clearly placed on top of the softball could not hide the beautifully written name of whose locker it was. Kate Summors. The fact that she had a softball did not surprise me, of course she was the captain of the team, but the note that read on top of it.

A few seconds went bye before I could take my eyes off the note: In fact I could recall tears rolling down my eyes as I stared at those 3 words, it effected me so much.
It was not the fact that she liked someone else that made me cry, to be honest I never knew the person.
It was the fact that it was covering the softball that impacted me so much. It sent a message that although there are many accomplishments to be made as an indiviual NOTHING means more than what you could do with someone you love.
It was not that the locker was small. It had enough space to have the softball on one side and the note on the other..but the Note was on top because I take it, it meant more.
So the question if you had a locker... What would be on it? What would be inside?
Then I ask youreself one last question... What would NOT be on my locker?
So like all stories, this story must come to a close.
Those three words made me realieze something..that although your not always there to see it You are Always affecting somone. Even if it is as simple as a handwritten note saying.
