Shoyu Hot Dogs

Titus and I want to make these! I tried looking online for recipes, but alas to no avail. It's super popular here in HI in case many of you haven't heard of it. There a mix of shoyu(soy sauce), sugar, and hot dogs. It's been 4 years here now for me in Hawai'i and I love living here! Though it's funny b/c most of the time I'm not aware of the fact that I'm living in Hawaii. I was in a Jack in the Box yesterday and Titus was wearing his work clothes (aloha shirt) and I actually heard Hawaiian music playing (which is not common at fast food eating establishments outside of Waikiki) so I realized I was in Hawai'i. Another thing that reminds me is this one type of dove. When I hear it "COO" my brain knows I'm in Hawai'i. Speaking of Hawai'i, the wedding will be in a Hawaii-reminder location aha. The countdown to the wedding is 72 days!

Fun-filled day. Went to the Waikiki Aquarium for the first time ever with the accompaniment of none other than Titus and saw lots of ocean life. He knew the Hawaiian names to lots of the native fish...which is quite a feat given the state fish of Hawai'i ~ humuhumunukunukuapua'a. I got a souveneir postcard of a turtle and a turtle looking keychain. I backed into my gate with my car today thinking I had rolled over something...it was a funny moment. Got a new joint blogger with Darren and Titus. It's http://ever-reforming.blogspot.com/ Posts to come well there are already two I think...

Perseid Shower

I read in the newspaper that there would be a meteor shower. I never saw one before (not that I know of) and was really excited to see one so I told Titus and we went to Wahiawa since it was farther away from town (Honolulu). Basically there was: drizzle, kettlecorn , avoi ding light sources, stickies, ONE METEORITE, stickies removal, and favorite guy (all throughout). I got this picture from the Washington Post. I had the hardest time finding a picture of the direction of the Meteorite we saw which went across the sky from a NE to SW direction. Surely...the work of a Creator!

The 4th of July

Why is there more emphasis on "July 4th" vs. "Independence Day?" Could it be due to the forward motion of history from that point in time?? Afterall, it's also for Mexican Independence too...Cinco de Mayo. ^_- I wonder if my students would all know what the date is significant for beyond knowing July 4th is a holiday.

Summer is: learning to cook better, studying Reformation fellows, jump start to Bible in a year, church history, attending Honolulu Bible Church, waiting upon job (pretty much Hanalani vs. DOE), lunchtimes and quality time with Titus .
