Hats off to the Socceroos

I'm sooooooo cranky and irritable today. I think the whole nation is. Never thought I was that passionate about soccer but I guess everyone can relate to the feeling of working and trying so hard and when things seem within grasp, its snatched away from you. So cruel...
I know its just a game in the end but the 'game' just so happens to be the life of these players. For many of them, it may well be the single greatest event in their careers (or life) so I really feel for these guys. So that's why I say "Hats off to you all, gentlemen!"

Getting side-tracked...

Mid year's almost upon us. Tis nearly tax time too and this time I don't think I'll get too big a shock when I see the bill cos I've only worked like 7 months this year hahaha. I'm such a bum but its not all my fault though. I commited to a job that was supposed to have started early May but has dragged out to the new financial year so I've only been working part time since I've been in Sydney. Quite annoyed with the boss actually and I told him bout it the other day. Dunno if that was a good idea but I guess I'll see how things pan out.
Of course the plus side is that I've had alot of time off but I find that the more free time u get, the more u waste doing shit u shouldn't be doing. Of course alot of it has been occupied by host duties for all the houseguests that's visited but the days seem to fly by without any personal achievements.
I've been trying to will myself back on track with varying success starting with things like diet and sleep patterns. I'm not dat disciplined though... my tummy is abit of a weakness hahaha. Since just before my trip back to Perth, I've also cut down alot on alcohol too which I'm sure is doing wonders for my liver and brain. Ever feel like u're getting dumber by the day. I swear my senses were sharper back in high school. And I'm only 26. Man!!! at this rate.. I'd hate to see what I'm like when I'm 36.
I've also started to read books, something I havn't done since high school, again. I havn't quite got through one yet hahaha, but its actually been quite productive to pass time on the trains. Just a couple of days ago, also started to try and play and sing at the same time. Never really been able to do dat. Co-ordination required seem such a leap from jz playing or singing alone hahaha. Been experimenting with trusty Jay's well-known 安靜 but even though i know the lyrics, melody and keyboard acompaniment off by-heart.. kinda falls apart when all put together.. haiz! Back to the drawing boards.

2 weekends ago I was back in Perth. Here's how things went:
Left on the Friday night with pleasant excitement but any flights longer than an hour on Virgin Blue soon took the shine off dat. But the flight landed ahead of schedule so dat was good but then they fucking lost my luggage. WTF... its one flight from Sydney to Perth. How do u freaking loose it. So I was without my clothes and stuffs for the first night but luckily I've left enough things back in Perth. Caught up with Ian for some K that night but everyone else piked cos it was supposedly too late already by the time I got home. I'm 2 hours ahead of Perth ppl ok and I was feeling fine but no1 else came out.. CB!!!! hahaha :P
Anyways.. next day was spent taking photographs for Wei and Cheryl, who's wedding was the purpose of the trip. Got a call from Virgin stating that they've located my baggage in Cairns... WTF again!!!!! OK.. jz get it to me ASAP but it wasn't gonna get to Perth til 10pm so I was without a dress shirt and tie for the wedding reception. Had to borrow one from Justin for the night. Well at least the reception went nicely and twas really good to see everyone, especially Gareth who'd flown in from the States. It looked like Wei and Cheyl really enjoyed themselves :) Picked up my bags from the airport afterwards (no compensation from Virgin cos they located it within 24hrs plus I had to pay for freaking airport parking grrrrrr), a short visit to Wei's place then I was off to the old hunting ground...Metros. Again.. such a shit turn-out cos everyone's on exams. Stayed only a lil while then went for supper. But I did see my bro totally pissed on the dance-floor though.. ahhh.. like old times hehe.
Caught up with the dentites over dim sum lunch on Sunday then ended up at UWA playing abit of squash with Ez's church friends. Dinner was at a Thai restaurant in Subi operated by my current practise manager(originally from Perth)'s cousin, with my brother and sister. Not bad either but I was really quite weary by this stage, averaging bout 4 hours sleep a night for the weekend. Was meant to go for coffee with the extended crew from high school that night but ended up on a 2-hour phone conversation (dun get me started on this one) so I missed coffee but went over to Wei's afterwards to deliver the photos from the day before. After that it was too later to catchup with anyone else besides.. exams were abit more important than my visit :P hehe. Monday morning was spent packing then it was straight to the airport and a much more pleasant Qantas flight to Sydney. As u can imagine.. not really wat I had envisioned for my trip back but oh well.. gotta move on!

BZ BZ BZ

I've been sick all week. It never got very bad but everytime I start to get better... another activity forces me to venture from the comfort of my house and drink dat cursed beverage hahaha. With Ed and Mich here this weekend and Tony and Davina's farewell.. there's little time for rest in between. On top of that, the miserable weather didn't help with a cold front passing through Sydney this whole week.
All these things happening at once, its hard to jz step back and assess the whole Sydney situation.
Lets see.. on the dentistry front, it took bout 6 weeks before I actually started working and even then, it was part time. Supposed to have gone f/t by late May already but the new surgery's constantly been delayed. My current 2.5 days of work is spent at the surgey in Cabramatta, a location not without its share of bad reputation. Its supposedly inhabited by many Asian gangs and such but as with most rumours, the claims r rather unfounded...well at least during the day times that I'm there. A good surprise was also the variety of Asian cuisine that can be found with literally every 2nd or 3rd store being a restaurant. Most will have its specialty dish so with the plethora of restaurant choices, there hadn't been a need to revisit the same one twice yet. The new surgery will be located in McArthur Square.. literally at the end of the city train line. Beyond that its like grass and sheep haha. The journey'll take about 1 hr and 15min on the express train so there's plenty of time for snoozing or catching up on some reading. But there r some things going for it. It is a completely brand new surgery and I have the freedom to set it up anyway i want. The plusses r that this is essentially an experience in opening up my own new practice without any capital and minimal risks on my part. Of course the minus is that I'm still paid on commission. But with the surgery located within a medical centre in a shopping centre and supposedly no other dentist located within the same suburb.. there's huge potential to build up clientele very quickly and if it does happen, the option is there to buy into the practice. See how that pans out I guess but if it does, at least I'll be putting my money into worthy investments rather than things killing my body (especially the liver hahahah).
So wat does this mean for my career. Well, the sooner I can get out of dentistry, the better hahaha. Ownership of a practice provides a secondary source of income so I'll be free to pursue anything I want. Its all a little exciting to think about but the reality of it is probably a fair bit harder to achieve. But I'm not getting any younger so to take some of my own advice that I'd been dishing out: "Its now or never, mate!"
On the social front, things started a little slow which was to be expected since I had few connections with Sydney prior. It didn't take long for the snowball to take shape though and before I knew it, I'm struggling to juggle my hours of work, rest and play. It has also not been without a lil controversy too, making a few enemies along the way hahhaha. Me? making enemies???? Never!!!!! hahahhahaha. I think my reputation's taking abit of a hiding but I can't really blame them since they don't really know me and I'm not exactly the type of person to give alot away. But the underlying thing is tho, I jz don't care wat they think of me. Hmmm.. is this a personality shift for me?? dunno eh.. and neither do I know if its a good thing or bad. This is jz my description of the situation... the assessment of which is gonna take me far longer than any time I have available. Haiz.. hence the title of this entry "BZ BZ BZ!" Too bz for me to understand me!! Of course its not all bad, far from it. Despite some of these annoyances, I'm actually having a great time here in Sdyney. Places to go, people to meet, good food to eat... its great! Tony and Davina reckons I've got to know more ppl in 3 months than they have in 2 yrs hahaha. Of course thats an exaggeration on their part but to what extent...who knows.
Then there's the relationship front which is totally screwed up as usual hahahhaha.
I know not wat to do nor y I do wat I do. I jz do! And when its all done, would I do it all again if given the chance. You betcha!! Despite any mistakes.. its jz me!
Hahaha.. "You've rambled on about all these crap without telling anything!!" I hear u complain. Sorry but the details r classified :P Sydney Confidential!!
OK.. so thats about all that's been happening thus far in varying details. I'm back in Perth next weekend so it'll be my first chance to get-away from Sydney and maybe jz put everything into perspective. It'll be so nice to see my family and catchup with frens back home. I can't wait

Oh shit, May's almost gone...

Ahhh... perhaps the most common starter line for blogs  - "how time flies and how I really should be more consistent blogging!"
Well... there's only a few real reasons y I engage in this activity. No, I'm not a sheep dats jz following this world wide fad cos I wanna b cool. Far from it - I think this notion of being cool is starting to be uncool. But I digress. I blog when I'm borred and to keep a record of my existence. It serves to update the few friends that have knowledge of this blog but mainly its a log for myself. What's more important is not what I've done but reading my past entries helps me learn bout myself. Again.. lets not jump to conclusions and assume that I've become disillutioned or some crap. But its strange that often its foreign to me wat I've written myself even though I try to be as honest as I can be. Its not necessary a bad thing but its probably a good indicator of how well I know myself... which unfortunately is "not very".

OK.. since I've last left off, I've been mainly working and keeping myself bz, going out and stuff. Its a tiring lifestyle, I tell ya! Which probably explains y I've had a gut problem for weeks now and I'm down with the flu atm. There's also been a constant stream of houseguests keeping the schedules spilling over starting with Tash, my brother, followed by Wei, then Imran and Tyrone. This weekend it'll be Ed and Michelle followed by my much anticipated weekend back in Perth. After that, I believe housemate Dave has 4 British frens crashing over in late June followed by Andrew, Janice and Mags in July. What that spells is way too much drinking and not enough rest. Dave and Elaine have just started on a detox program that I really should be on but can't do, for commitments' sake...haiz!! Added to this r the new friends I've acquainted myself with in the past couple of weeks, one of whom I've got to know freakishly well and probably got myself in way over my head =P
Intrigued?? Hahaha.. Well... those that know me best know I never divulge privileged information so u'll jz have to wait til the inevitable rumour mill start to spin. Fortunately for me I now live in Sydney and have much fewer links but unfortunately for me, she knows too many ppl I know... hahahahah!! Um..humm.. not funny!! Rumours have been the bane of my existence grrr...
So dats all, folks. Til next time
