So we have reached the end of another grueling but exciting week of rehearsals. I have to say that with all this practice, I am becoming quite the tenor. I love the the fact that I get to sing everyday, even if it is the tenor part.
It's such a cool place to work, because no matter how your day is going, there's always people or animals there to make you feel better. For instance, you may look up and see a zebra walking by, and that's just cool. We got our first animal orientation today. They gave us a tour of the "zoo" that lives under our stage. It was really neat to see all of the animals. And that may be the only time we will ever get to walk around down there, because it is a very restricted area. Only the authorized animal trainers and handlers are allowed to be around the animals. It's very strict because the animals can't be distracted from their training. It's sad because we would all like to be friends with the animals, but we understand that they have to focus on their job too. So we will just enjoy the time we get to spend with them in training and in performance.
By the way, did you know that the zebra is a very dangerous animal? It is very wild and has an intense kick. Zebras can kill a lion with one kick! They are more careful with the zebras than with any other animal.
We meet the rest of the cast on Monday. Should be fun. Crazy, but fun. It's going to be wierd adding another twenty something people to the mix.
PS- pray for my understudy. Cuz I don't have one yet. I should get one next week, but he will be way behind. This is the kind of show that you really need a good understudy, and I have been doing double duty at rehearsals the past two weeks going over dances, songs, and scenes as me and then as my understudy. So I've gotten quite a workout and will have a lot to teach whoever steps into the understudy position this next week.
