First Week of Summer

For my first week of summer, it didn't even feel like I was on vacation at all. I worked all week, and for one of those days, I even had a 7 hour day. I didn't really get to do that much at all, since I was usually either sleeping, hanging out with Josh, or working. On Friday, I saw Kung Fu Panda. I thought it was pretty funny, I don't think that I would want to see it again though....one time is enough.

I'm still looking for another job, but so far I haven't had any luck. It's horrible that the unemployment rates are rising, just like the gas prices. It's hard for anyone to afford things these days. I don't know...it just makes me want to stay at home, rather than go out somewhere. If I go even an hour away, it'll almost cost me a tank of gas. I don't know how much that'll cost, but I would assume that it would cost somewhere around $50-60. It's just not worth it to pay that much to go somewhere that I don't have to go.

Update

Life has been pretty stressful these past few weeks. It's finals for Skyline next week, so all my classes decided to pile on tons of hw. Last week most of my hw was due, so now I'm starting to unwind, which is not good since i still have to take finals and i still have a research paper due. 3 tests next week, then i'm done for the spring semester! i'm so excited.

I've also seen several movies lately, all of which are so exciting. First, josh and i went and saw Iron Man. It was better than i expected and i was really into the movie...i had no idea that this movie was going to turn out the way it did. This is a must see movie :) Another movie we saw was Narnia: Prince Caspian. This movie was also better than i had anticipated. For some reason, i liked this one better than the previous narnia movie...of course the critics don't agree, but oh well. I would see this one again as well. The last movie i just saw was the Indiana Jones movie. It was not what i expected and i kind of thought that it would be better. It was exciting, but not as exciting as the previous movies. i also didn't see it as realistic as the other ones because this one had aliens in it.

Anyway, movies are more expensive! $7.75 a ticket! Gosh, everything is going up :( The movie theater at Tanforan has been there for a little over a month. That's the one josh and i go to now...its nice to just go to school and then see a movie there afterwards. It's a nice theater...but those cupholder things don't go up like the ones at the century 20 in daly city do.

over this summer, i don't plan on going to far, since gas is so expensive. but i would like to go camping. josh and i have been talking about it, but we don't exactly know any details about it yet...such as the place and time. oh well, its a work in progress.

Class rants

Just the other day, I had a test in my Business Law class. I don't particularly like this class, but it is required for a business major. So I decided to take it this semester. I have the only teacher that teaches it at Skyline, but I don't particularly care for his method of teaching. All he does is lecture and his tests are based on his lecture. However, on his tests, no one does all that well. First, he doubles our scores on the multiple choice, then he doubles the score on the short answer portion, which gave a total of 124 points for this test that we just had. Then he made the test worth 100 points, so anything over 100 is extra credit. The highest grade on the test was a 98. So that meant that if he made the test out of 124, no one would have gotten an A. For most people in the class, this was just another disappointing test. The people that actually participate in the class and seem like they know what they're doing even did poorly on the test. Of course it isn't really fair since he put some trick questions on the test that he didn't really go over during his lecture. Little technicalities and laws that we just might need to know for the test. I don't know, it's just a thought. Anyway, today in that class, we didn't do much...just got our results, went over the short answer portion, then left. He came in like 20 minutes late today...a little more than usual, but whatever. He told us that next week we'd have a substitute since he won't be here. I suppose he has more doctor appointments.

In my English class, we're reading Narcissus and Goldmund it's quite a strange book. It starts out very slowly in a monastary, but when Goldmund leaves the monastary, he becomes this seducer of women. At one point, he was in bed with two daughters. My English teacher is kinda weird and emphasizes his desire for sex and how it is a human nature. The other day she was just talking about breasts and how they're wonderful. She also said how new borns just naturally go toward them while babies just lay there helplessly until you feed it. I think my teacher is weird...she also reminds me of the crazy french lady, except she looks at you when she's talking to you. Funny thing-when my teacher is writing on the white board and her back is turned, she claims she can't hear any of us so she doesn't want us to speak until she is facing us. One time someone was saying something and her back was turned, so she didn't hear the student. Then another student whispered "she can't hear you, her back is turned." It's just absurd how my teacher acts. She also had her back turned when a student left to go to the bathroom and then she was like "did someone just leave or come in?" She also doesn't really like it if you have an opinion that is different from hers, so not very many people raise their hands to talk and she wonders why. There's only a total of 15 students in the class since people dropped. I assume people couldn't take her dramatized teaching, her daily quizzes, and long essays.

Ugh, I just hate this semester and I can't wait for it to be over. Summer and Fall semester will be so much better....I hope.

Poem I was forced to write for hw then analyze

Drowning in a Sea of Complications

Drowning in a sea of complications

and feeling so overwhelmed with hard work,

time moves sluggishly slow as work gets done.

Some of it is easy, but most of it is hard.

Swimming to shore takes until summer time

so we can have fun and relaxation.

Seems like forever, but it’ll come soon.

Sometimes the water goes above our heads

and that’s when we know we are in too deep.

Too deep to save ourselves from failing.

Fish and dolphins swim past us, not knowing

how hard we have to work to save ourselves.

With sleepless days and sleepless nights,

So much to do to get ourselves to the

shore to make sure we are not drowning in

a sea of complications anymore.

***now that i finished writing my poem, i have to now analyze it in a 4 page minimum essay due tomorrow that i did not start yet. not fun.
