it's been a long time...

It's been a really long time since the last time I updated, and boy has xanga changed!

I wanted to share about how my fishy is having babies at the moment!! =D  I have these reject fish (basically, mike bought 2 blue eyed cichlids- they had babies.  Not only did they have babies once, but they did it twice.  Then the male killed his mate and currently gets picked on by his growing babies.  Now there are too many babies and no one wants to buy them off of mike... cus there's A LOT.)  So anyways- there reject fish that I have are in my tank b/c my two old fish died some how, the weekend after I told my dad my tank was SO cool and that he should come see it when he came to sd for gradution the following weekend.  sadness!  so then Mike and I decided to recreate a new tank and put these reject baby fish into my tank just to show my dad.  lol.  so mike caught 4 and put them in my tank and there they've been living.  Suddenly I realized that the color of these fish were slightly changing.  one turned from it's white/silvery color to a charcoal gray color.  Mike did some research and discovered that it was mating colors!  So anyways, I'd been watching them for awhile, chasing each other in the tank, the biggest fish fighting off the smaller male.  The female seemed meek enough, but would swim around the tank finding a suitable house for her egg babies.  You can tell when they find a home b/c they will take each pebble rock (that lines the bottom of the tank) in their mouth and move it away, making a crater in the ground.  At first I noticed one of these craters in the open ground next to the BIG rocks, but she soon abandoned it and found a new cave under the wood.

Now for the exciting part...

Today after my class, I realized that a tank water change was way over due and decided to observe the fishies for awhile before i changed the water.  I noticed that Mrs. fish had some yellow poo like substance coming out of her butt!  Now fish poo is normally black, but this was a distinct yellow, and the eggs from previous batches were yellow too.  So she basically had an egg hanging out of her butt waiting for plantation on some surface.  Anyways, I change the water and take a nap and wake up to find that the male fish and female fish were going into the cave and swim upside down to graze the top of the wood cave!  THEN i noticed that Mr. fishy had a little white nubben at his butt hole area.... this i take to be his sperm releaser...

Either way, my fishies laid eggs and are now keeping "house" as they wait for them to be born.  Here's a pic of the cave, you can see the yellow eggies on the back surface of the cave (yellow dots).

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone!

It's funny what happens these days...

-I went home on Friday to attend Dan and Jenn's Wedding in SD on Sat.  Then on sunday, i had to work =(  after taking my sister and Jonathan to the airport i headed off to work.  Work was ok- there was a constant flow of people, some more crabby than others.  (honestly, it's the holiday season- people should lighten up just a little bit).  After work i decided to go to Ralphs to buy a cucumber to feed mike's fishies with and to buy some dinner from there.  So i was staring at the hot food section and wondering what to get, and this young looking guy wearing "house clothes" (you know those clothes that you wear around the house to do house chores or something) and he scoffs a little.  So I look at him and ask

me: what are you getting?
him: yeah- i dunno, i was thinking of a chicken piece
me: yeah, that's what i was thinking too
him: i was cleaning out my garage the whole day and i come out to get some dinner, but everything is closed. (says this while he rubs his sweatshirt indicating that that was the reason why he seemed a little dirty and untidy).
me: is it?  yeah i just got off of work
him: did you want to go to islands or something?  it's on my company
me: islands?
him: yeah- you want to get it a burger?  my company is paying.
me: no it's ok, i think i'll just stick to this stuff.

then the guy helps me, i get my chicken and tell him that i'm going to go grab some salad too. and i make my exit to the salad bar.

my thoughts: isn't it kindda sketchy that he said it's on his company when he lives here, where he can clean out his garage... whereas, usually, when something is "on the company" it's because the person is traveling OR he owns the company... soooo iono whta he was trying to pull.

-i also find it interesting how i was driving down my street (in torrance) and i see this little girl playing outside on her scooter, but then he runs into the middle of the street to go pick up her doll... why did she leave it there? On top of that, she was wearing a little mini skirt when it's realllllllllllly cold outside. why would her parents let her wear something like that in the middle of winter... didn't even have leggins on!

-my dad told me to clean the bathroom- and wow was i amazed at what bleach in the toilet can do.  it's all white.  muwahaha- die bacteria!

-after dinner by dad asked me if i cleaned the bathroom sink, which i did, but i forgot to clean the surface.  So then he poured some ajax in the sink as he went to go take it away to another room.  haha but thennn i told my dad,
me: aww, i just put lotion on my hands!
dad: what? in the sink? oo i see.  ok i'll do it.  haha nice excuse
me: my hands are all dry from washing dishes (i had to wash allll of our tupperware that was dirty cus it was in the garage and covered in dry wall sandings from the construction work)
dad: ok ok, don't worry *chuckle* i can do it.

ok time to be a potato cus i'm sooo full from dinner: beef stew (cooked by pops... and boy is it good), chung fun, duck, veggies, rice and a nice hot cup of tea.  wayyy too much food for two people!

MERRY CHRISTMAS PEOPLES [and don't forget to go take advantage of all of the good sales, cus i won't be able to :( ]  <-- driving back to sd in the morning and then going to work.

FALL quarter 07 will end as scheduled

according to the email sent out to UCSD students, the quarter will not be extended to make up for the loss of one week of instruction:

    * The Office of the President has approved a reduction
in the number of days of instruction for this quarter.
The calendar for the remainder of Fall quarter and
for final exams will not be changed.

additionally, professors will not assign extra make up days for class

    * Faculty have been asked to adjust their syllabus and
content for the loss of a week of classes, and not
expect to schedule additional class meetings to make
        up for that time.

please continue to pray for those who lost homes, are still in shelters, and those who are able to return to their homes due to the SD fires.

thank you

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who joined my family and me at my mom's funeral this past Saturday.  It really meant a lot to me.  I thought that the whole ceremony was beautiful and that my mom would have really liked it.  May she finally rest in peace.

**special thanks to those who helped plan and participated- we couldn't have done it without you.

God bless!
