Interests: mostly my hobbies, and other things. Over the past year I've noticed a sharp increase in my interest in the sorts of things Amity, my girlfriend, is interested in.
Expertise: i'm pretty good at stifling my astonishing potential. I could be pretty amazing at a wide range of things: sports, the arts, fashion, academic stuff, etc.; but I'm purposely not. I don't believe in the sorts of pressure associated with large-scale success. It's not easy being this average--I don't even take marijuana or any other drugs that are commonly used among other experts in this field.

Testing
1-2
Is this thing on?

Tuesday, February 28, 2006

I don’t really have much to say, but I am trying to practice the art of discipline.  I figure Xanga is a solid place to start.

Boy this is going to be tougher than I thought.  Some of you may not realize this, but I am a perfectionist.  A really serious one.  When I do something, I have to either dominate it with awesomeness, or let it go without second consideration.

Actually, that’s not exactly accurate.  When I do something and it sucks, I keep on redoing it until I dominate it with awsomeness, unless I can’t get it right.  Then I just say, “ah eff it,” and drop it cold turkey.  (Most of what I’ve done since high school falls into the latter category.)  For instance, I used to take fashion pretty seriously.  One minute I realize I’m turning prima donna, and the next thing I know I’ve been wearing the same brown cords every day for 7 months straight.  Or for another example, my senior thesis has been about a page and a half long for about three years now.

I’m not even sure this last revision is accurate.  I know there is at least a hefty dose of laziness involved—which, in all fairness, began legitimately as pretty large-scale disillusionment with life a few years back.  And no, SB; Taylor is not to blame.  It is to thank.

I want to take medicine for it.  I can’t wait until I have insurance.  The first thing I’m going to do is find some quack who will write me a prescription.  If s/he won’t comply, I’ll talk his/her ear off until S/HE is the one needing the medicine.  I’m not even sure I need the medicine, but I’m really curious.  And it can’t hurt to try.  I’ve always been into trying new things…especially if they may have medicinal value.  And if it does end up hurting me after all, I’ll be under the care of a doctor (i.e. I can sue his/her ass and finally retire).

Done.

I love all of you.

I'm still a little upset that my letter to Dr. Dobson [I copied it to the end of my Dec 8 post] didn't get many accolades. Two to be exact. And one of those— sandratanko’s—probably shouldn’t count. Why don’t you take a moment to check it out. And then when you finish that, you should also check out the comments on sandratanko’s postings. They’re really funny if they’re still there.

**This will probably make more sense if you visit Amity's blog first and take the quiz.**

I took the quiz and I was New York.  I was teetering on a few answers so I changed them.  Then I became L.A.  I kinda wish there would have been an "other, please explain" option.  It would have turned out something like this:

1.) If you had some free time and money in your pocket, how would you like to spend your time?

o Other--either go to one of the aforementioned coffee shops or bars and politely laugh at the people talking about politics, philosophy or that just look generally lost, OR go to some sweet house party, especially if its hosts are rich and gay.

2.) What is your favorite sport or activity?

o  Other--ok first of all, there should be separate categories for sports and lazy leisure.  I love them both, but c'mon.  Sports are sports and leisure is leisure.  So my two answers would be 1) football and 2) Golf, get some sun--on a beach, etc.

--I could let questions 3 and 4 slide as long as I can swap the lobster for some seared ahi and the effing line cooks know what the eff effing rare +/ med rare is (still bitter).  Also, by "shot of whiskey" they meant "half-gallon in shatterproof  plastic"

5.) Favorite Color

o Other--what are we, in preschool?  Would it kill you to throw in a sage or a deep plumb?  Personally, I would go with both of these, along with merlot, ultra-Caribbean coral, and gold leaf.

6.) Your transportation of choice?

o  Other--el Camino.  duh.

I am Indianapolis.

Good morning everyone!  I'll tell you about my weekend later.  Right now the important thing to do is visit Sandra Tanko's blog @ sandratanko.  I don't know her at all, and I'm not really sure why she contacted me of all people.  But you should check it out anyway.

Seeya later today, maybe.

Love,

Tad
