• On the way to the top

Click to enlarge One of the many hairpins on the awesomely twisty, narrow, rock lined road to the top of Haleakala in Maui. This one is about 8000ft above sea level, already above the clouds. There's not a lot of places that allows you to feel like you're flying while having your feet (or tires)…
  • Sun and stars

Click to enlarge This shot is about 30 minutes after the panorama. You can see the horizon starting to get really bright, meanwhile the stars are still visible. Unfortunately the famous Haleakala sunrise was not visible for me that day, as you can also see, the clouds were starting to climb up the…
  • On top of my favourite island

This is a few hours before sunrise, on top of Haleakala in Maui. It's so unreal being up there, the stars shine bright, the clouds hug the horizon, and usually there aren't too many people there at 3 or 4am in the morning. It's oddly peaceful and dramatic at the same time. Love it :)
  • Phew

Finally made it to the weekend. Work is such a soul sucking thing. I guess it could be worse. At least I'm not contemplating suicide while making Iphones or something. Photo: Maui, Canon 7D, expose for highlights
  • Paradise Island

Click to enlarge As the sun sets over the west Maui mountains, I took this shot of a few kids playing in a little kayak. What a peaceful and serene place, with gorgeous warm (but not hot) weather and soft sand beaches. Sometimes I wonder, is it really worth the while to tough it out and work your a…
  • Sand of the universe

While on a beach in Maui, waiting for the sun to set, the only thing I could think of, was what I read in Carl Sagan's book a long time ago... "There are more stars in the universe than all the grains of sand on all of the earth's beaches combined" I can't help but feel amazed. Really? THAT many? I…
  • New Year's Goals - a picture every day on Xanga

Okay, I've got a problem. Over the last few years I've travelled quite a lot, spent literally days and days taking tens of thousands of pictures. Most of them aren't great, but a few are pretty good. But the problem is that I haven't had the dedication to edit and post all those pictures. So startin…

  • Snorkeling

I've been thinking about this too much, and I forgot to write about one of the more interesting things that has happened to me in the recent past.I went snorkeling, for the first time ever. I'm not sure how common it is for people to have snorkeled in their lives, but it is strange for someone livi…
  • How's Hawaii?

"Time here (Hawaii) moves so slowly, and yet so quickly at the same time."It's something someone said yesterday, and something I've said many times since moving here."How long have you been working here?" "I dunno, a few months ... it was nice out when I started. It's still nice out."The weather ch…
