  • BUY THIS BOOK

Great Pyrenees dogs are unique in that they have two dew claws on each back leg in addition to the normal four claws on their toes. As far as I know, they are the only dog breed with double dew claws. A pyr owner has written an illustrated story book for children about pyr puppies titled Six T…

  • GREAT PYRENEES RESCUE

My wife saw a video on TV the other day of an Indianapolis Fire Department diver pulling a Great Pyrenees named Biscuit from the White River. The 2-year-old dog was previously rescued from a shelter, but she escaped from her caretakers. Biscuit has cuts, a gash to her left paw and a disloca…

  • THE GUARDIANS

Three Great Pyrenees dogs are taking on a bear that threatens their flock. I found this picture on-line, but I couldn't read the story because it was written in Swedish or Norwegian. Pyrs and other similar guardian dogs don't have to be trained as such. From what I understand about these lives…

  • ANOTHER PYR SIGHTING

I'm always excited to find a picture of a Great Pyrenees. This was a supplement in our local newspaper this weekend.

  • PYR SIGHTING

This Great Pyrenees picture was taken from the Pendleton Mills Website promoting the horse blankets they sell. It's getting more and more common to see a pyr in commercials and advertisements. http://www.pendleton-usa.com/jump.jsp?itemType=CATEGORY&itemID=41&path=1%2C2%2C6%2C41

  • BACKYARD BATH DAY

I decided to save a hundred bucks or so by washing the dog myself. We bought a blow-up plastic pool for eight dollars at a dollar store (I thought everything at a dollar store was supposed to be a dollar?) and blew it up using the air compressor. I tried using lung power, but I nearly passed out.…

  • HAIR TODAY, HAIR TOMORROW!

I brushed Josie for about 15 minutes and produced enough loose hair to make a medium sized dog. I could have gotten more hair, but 15 minutes was all she would allow. She's giving me that look now. I know when to quit. At least this batch won't have to be vacuumed off the carpet.
