| | I haven't updated my log for almost a year and almost forget how to. It has been quite a year. Many things have happened, and I don't think I want to list them out and be reminiscent. Maybe someday I will be able to make arts about them or casually share them with my friends as jokes or anecdotes. For now, I just want to keep my head up and move on.
Here are some quotes that I encountered lately and felt related to:
"The more we are aware of perfection the more we realize how very far away from us it is. That is why art work is so very hard. It is working through disappointments and growing recognition of failure to the point of defeat. But still one wakes in the morning and there is the inspiration and one goes on...Being an artist is a very solitary business. It is not artists that get together to do this or that. Artists just go into their studios everyday and shut the door and remain there. Usually when they come out they go to a park or somewhere where they will not meet anyone."- Agnes Martin, who put my feelings as an artist into words even though my fellow artists can't seem to agree.
"A really bad figurative painting is lik a finger in your eyes." - Chuck Close...Doesn't that apply to any really bad paintings? (so I'm poking my own eyes? haha!)
"Behandelt die Fauen mit Nachsicht" - Goethe (Be lenient when handling womankind.)
"Sie Lachelte einmal. Es tat fast weh." - Rilke. (She smiled once. It was almost painful.)
and hopefully, in the near future, I'll be able to say, "Nihil facimus sed id bene facimus." (We do nothitng but we do it well.)
PEACE. Happy New Year. Happy New Semester. Happy New Life. |
