Maybe someday I'll have something interesting to post, but in the meantime...

My kids are weird. Maybe not, but Lucy (at 3&1/2) loves the Wizard of Oz (should make Aunt Angie proud) and Jack asks for The Incredible Hulk ("I want Huck"). I mean the actual show, not a cartoon or anything. They're fearless, I guess. So, Lucy wants to be a witch for Halloween. I have no problem with that, but I'm sure plenty of people do. She even says she wants to be a black witch with a black hat. I have no problem with it because I know that the only witch she really knows is from the Wizard of Oz. So, for the people that let their kids participate in Halloween festivities what is your vote? Should I let her be a witch? (Oh, and for all the people that don't participate in Halloween, I don't need to hear why I shouldn't let my kids trick-or-treat and such, thanks. I've heard it all before.)

Since it's been a week since I posted I should probably write something. There's not much going on, so I'll just give you my week in review and see where it takes me.

Saturday: Cleaned, slept (to catch up on the previous nights work), went to see The Dark Knight with Andy.
Sunday: Went to church. Ate lunch with in-laws, did freezer corn.
Monday: Laundry, let the kids play outside, made meatloaf, corn-on-the-cob and baked potatoes for dinner, went grocery shopping.
Tuesday: Worked, cleaned, tried to stay up to watch the Olympics, but fell asleep at 10 p.m.
Wednesday: Ran to the store to get diapers, let the kids play outside again, rearranged/organized/cleaned the garage. Made chicken tortilla casserole, zucchini and p.b. cookies for dinner. Fell asleep at 9 p.m.!
Thursday: Gave kids a bath, went to my friend, Janie's, relaxed and watched some t.v. before work. Worked.

Work has been crazy busy lately due to the changes at the Mishawaka hospital. People don't realize that it's still open. No ambulances go there, because there are no admits. Anyway, there were a ton of people in our waiting room last night. Eighteen, at one point. Anyway, I noticed a while after midnight that they had really cleared out the ER. Someone told me they had to divert the ambulances to Memorial hospital because we have NO monitored beds left in the hospital! Crazy! I'm hoping they're still diverting tonight when I go in! Highly unlikely.

Hmmm. What else. Jack is talking more and more. He told me the other day when I went to get him up in the morning, "All done sleeping!" He repeats anything. We're watching Alvin and the Chipmunks and at one point Jack said, "Oh, Dave!" Andy has heard him do the "ALVIN!" thing before. He's still our "difficult" child, but things are getting better. He's eating a lot better than he did six months ago, but in exchange he's a terror if you try to take him shopping!

About Lucy: She doesn't believe everything I tell her anymore. Oh well, couldn't last forever. Funny story. For some reason, when Lucy was a baby, I started call her rear end, "baby buns". So she refers to that area as her baby buns. So, sometimes when she's watching the chipmunk movie she'll dance and shake her rear. The other day she was doing it and said to me, "Mommy, shake your baby buns all around!" I couldn't stop laughing, but I managed to tell her that I wasn't going to do that and I didn't think she should be doing that either.

Currently Watching
101 Dalmatians (Two-Disc Platinum Edition)
By Rod Taylor, Betty Lou Gerson, Cate Bauer, Lisa Daniels, Ben Wright

It's funny how kids become creatures of habit. Or something like that. Even at just two years old, Jack loves to look at the cereal boxes while eating his cereal. Remember doing that? And Lucy just about has a coronary if you don't start a movie at the very beginning! She really likes 101 Dalmations, but since there are a bunch of credits at the beginning I decided to go past them one day. Wow, she was quite upset. And, she just informed me of this, "Mom. Dogs don't talk." It's so crazy how she doesn't believe every thing I tell her anymore!

We had a great weekend in Ohio! We babysat on Saturday night so Tony and Lindsey could got to a fancy dinner party and then on Sunday we went to an old quarry turned swimming hole/hang out. It was interesting. You'll see the pictures below. Not exactly a kid-friendly place. First of all, it cost five dollars to get in regardless of age. Yeah. The beach was more dirt than sand and the shallowest area after the steps into the water stopped was 22 feet! But, it was an experience and I think I'd go there again if we didn't have the kids with us. Lucy and Jack both love the water. Lucy is a little more cautious than Jack, but you could not take your eye of either of them for a second. We got there right when it opened and stayed for two hours. It was perfect because it was just starting to get busy when we were leaving.

So, today is laundry day, which is almost done. My kids are driving me slightly crazy. I hate having the t.v. on too much, but when I ask them to just play together in their rooms they get a little too rowdy for my liking. Plus, it's rainy outside, so that limits things. Jack hit Lucy over the head with one of Andy's shoes (a Doc Martens of all kinds) if that gives you any indication of how my day has been. It's nap time now, so I'm just deciding how I want to spend my free time! We are planning on finishing off our basement this winter, so there is some prep work to do down there. That's probably what I'll do. Go downstairs and work. Ok, here are some pics from the weekend.

Ava loved Jack!

All dressed up.

Eating lunch at the quarry.

Splashing daddy if fun!

You had to walk down these steps to get to the water. It really was an interesting set up.

Tony.

Andy.

Me and my baby.

Playing in the dirt/sand. (She insisted it was sand not dirt!)

We are having some people over for dinner tonight. Someone Andy works with and her husband. Should be fun. This is what's on the menu:

Grilled Marinated Salmon
Baked Herbed Potatoes
Strawberry Almond Salad
Steamed Broccoli (maybe)
Tiramisu Cheesecake Dessert

I made the dessert last night because it has to refrigerate overnight. The salmon will marinate all day and the salad and potatoes will be super easy to throw together. I might make broccoli just so Andy has some more options because he won't even eat fish yet.

Oh, also, I took the kids blueberry picking the other day and we met some friends there. Lucy was totally into it and Jack stuck by my side for quite a while. He finally went and played with the other boys that we met there, so Lucy and I were able to pick 8.5 pounds. I've already made a blueberry pie (mostly for Andy considering I'm counting calories) and I froze four quart-size bags full and there is still some in the fridge that I need to either freeze or bake with. I also have a bunch of zucchini in my fridge thanks to Aunt Anna. I'm thinking of shredding it and then freezing it. I love having a full freezer. Makes me feel domestic!
