An old American Muslim lived on a farm in the mountains of eastern Kentucky with his young grandson.

Each morning Grandpa would wake up early and sit at the kitchen table reading his Qur'an.

His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could.

One day the grandson asked, 'Grandpa! I try to read the Qur'an just
like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget
as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Qur'an do?'

The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and
replied, 'Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a
basket of water'.

The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house.

The grandfather laughed and said, 'You'll have to move a little faster
next time,' and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again.

This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he
returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was
impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket
instead. The old man said, 'I don't want a bucket of water; I want a
basket of water. You're just not trying hard enough,' and he went out
the door to watch the boy try again.

At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show
his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water
would leak out before he got back to the house.

The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty.

Out of breathe, he said, 'See Grandpa, it's useless!'

'So you think it is useless?' The old man said, 'Look at the basket.'
The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the
basket was different.

It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out.

'Son, that's what happens when you read the Qur'an, you might not
understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be
changed, inside and out.

That is the work of Allah in our lives.'

Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) said: 'The one who guides to good will be rewarded equally'

And Allah swt knows best

Jannah

Ibn al-Qayyim said, in regards to the description of the Paradise and the delights that it contains:

"And if you ask about its ground and its soil, then it is of musk and saffron.

And if you ask about its roof, then it is the Throne of the Most Merciful.

And if you ask about its rocks, then they are pearls and jewels.

And if you ask about its buildings, then they are made of bricks of gold and silver.

And if you ask about its trees, then it does not contain a single tree except that its trunk is made of gold and silver.

And if you ask about its fruits, then they are softer than butter and sweeter than honey.

And if you ask about its leaves, then they are softer than the softest cloth.

And if you ask about its rivers, then there are rivers of milk
who's taste does not change, and rivers of wine that is delicious to
those who drink it, and rivers of honey that is pure, and rivers of
water that is fresh.

And if you ask about their food, then it is fruits from whatever they will choose, and the meat of whatever birds they desire.

And if you ask about their drink, then it is Tasneem, ginger, and Kaafoor.

And if you ask about their drinking cups, then they are crystal-clear and made of gold and silver.

And if you ask about its shade, then a fast rider would ride in the shade of one of its trees for a hundred years and not escape it.

And if you ask about its vastness, then the lowest of its people
would have within his kingdom and walls and palaces and gardens the
distance that would be travelled in a thousand years.

And if you ask about its tents and encampments, then one tent is like a concealed pearl that is sixty miles long.

And if you ask about its towers, then they are rooms above rooms in buildings that have rivers running underneath them.

And if you ask about how far it reaches into the sky, then look
at the shining star that is visible, as well as those that are far in
the heavens that the eyesight cannot possibly reach.

And if you ask about the clothing of its inhabitants, then they are of silk and gold.

And if you ask about its beds, then its blankets are of the finest silk laid out in the highest of its levels.

And if you ask about the faces of its inhabitants and their beauty, then they are like the image of the Moon.

And if you ask about their age, then they are young ones of 33 years in the image of Adam, the father of humanity.

And if you ask about what they will be hearing, then it is the singing of their wives from among the Hoor al-'Ayn,
and better than that are the voices of the Angels and the Prophets, and
better than that is the Speech of the Lord of the Worlds.

And if you ask about their servants, then they are young boys of everlasting youth who resemble scattered pearls.

And if you ask about their brides and wives, then they are young
and full-breasted and have had the liquid of youth flow through their
limbs; the Sun runs along the beauty of her face if she shows it, light
shines from between her teeth if she smiles; if you meet her love, then
say whatever you want regarding the joining of two lights; he sees his
face in the roundness of her cheek as if he is looking into a polished
mirror, and he sees the brightness from behind her muscles and bones;
if she were to be unleashed upon the World, she would fill what is
between the Heavens and the Earth with a beautiful wind, and the mouths
of the creation would glorifiy, praise, and exclaim greatness, and
everything between the East and the West would be adorned for her, and
every eye would be shut from everthing but her, and the light of the
Sun would be outshone just as the light of the Sun outshines the light
of the stars, and everyone on the face of the Earth would believe in
the Ever-Living, the One who Sustains and Protects all the exists.

And the covering on her head is better than the World and all that is
in it, and she does not increase with age except in beauty; free from
an umbilical cord, childbirth and menses, and pure of mucous, saliva,
urine and other filthy things; her youth never fades, her clothing is
never worn out, no garment can be created that matches her beauty, and
no one who is with her can ever become bored; her attention is
restricted to her husband, so she desires none but him, just as his
attention is restricted to her so she is the sole object of his desire,
and he is with her in utmost safety and security, as none has touched
her before of either humans or Jinn.

And if you ask about the Day of Increase (in reward) and the
visit of the all-Mighty, all-Wise, and the sight of His Face - free
from any resemblance or likeness to anything - as you see the Sun in
the middle of the day and the full Moon on a cloudless night, then
listen on the day that the caller will call: 'O People of Paradise! Your Lord - Blessed and Exalted - requests you to visit Him, so come to visit Him!' So they will say: 'We hear and obey!'

Until, when they finally reach the wide valley where they will all meet
- and none of them will turn down the request of the caller - the Lord
- Blessed and Exalted - will order His Chair to be brought there. Then,
pulpits of light will emerge, as well as pulpits of pearls, gemstone,
gold, and silver. The lowest of them in rank will sit on sheets of
musk, and will not see what those who are on the chairs above them are
given. When they are comfortable where they are sitting and are secure
in their places, and the caller calls: 'O People of Paradise! You have an appointment with Allaah in which He wishes to reward you!'
So they will say: 'And what is that reward? Has He not already made our
faces bright, made our scales heavy, entered us into Paradise, and
pushed us away from the Fire?'

And when they are like that, all of a sudden a light shines that
encompasses all of Paradise. So, they raise their heads, and, behold:
the Compeller - Exalted is He, and Holy are His Names - has come to
them from above them and majestified them and said: 'O People of Paradise! Peace be upon you!' So,
this greeting will not be responded to with anything better than: 'O
Allaah! You are Peace, and from You is Peace! Blessed are You, O
possessor of Majesty and Honor!' So the Lord - Blessed and Exalted -
will laugh to them and say: 'O People of Paradise! Where are those who used to obey Me without having ever seen Me? This is the Day of Increase!'

So, they will all give the same response: 'We are pleased, so be pleased with us!' So, He will say: 'O People of Paradise! If I were not pleased with you, I would not have made you inhabitants of My Paradise! So, ask of Me!' So,
they will all give the same response: 'Show us your Face so that we may
look at it!' So, the Lord - Mighty and Majestic - will remove his
covering and will majestify them and will cover them with His Light,
which, if Allaah - the Exalted - had not Willed not to burn them, would
have burned them.

And there will not remain a single person in this gathering except that his Lord - the Exalted - will speak to him and say: 'Do you remember the day that you did this and that?' and
He will remind him of some of his bad deeds in the Worldy life, so he
will say: 'O Lord! Will you not forgive me?' So, He will say: 'Of course! You have not reached this position of yours (in Paradise) except by my forgiveness.'

So, how sweet is this speech to the ears, and how cooled are the
righteous eyes by the glance at His Noble Face in the Afterlife...

wanted a very pious husband, so she said that she’ll marry the man who
recites the whole Quran every single day, fasts for the whole year and
stays awake and worships Allah all throughout the night.

She was
a very beautiful woman, and a lot of suitors wanted to marry her, but
they knew they couldn’t fulfil the conditions she set. Until this one
man stepped forward and said he could fulfil them. So the Imam got both
of them married.

After the first night of the marriage, the wife
sees that the husband doesn’t recite the whole of the Quran, nor does
he fast, nor does he stay awake in the worship of Allah, she decided to
let it roll on for a few weeks to see if there were any changes, there
weren’t, so she filed a complaint and asked for a divorce.

They
are both taken in front of the judge, and the judge asked, ‘What were
the conditions of the marriage?’ the man replied ‘They were for me to
recite the whole Quran daily, keep fast for the whole year and to
worship Allah all throughout the night.’

The Judge asked, ‘ did you fulfil them? The man calmly answered, ‘…yes.’

The judge answers, ‘you lie, your wife has said that you don’t, that’s why she’s asking for a divorce’.

But
the man insisted that he had fulfilled the conditions, so the judge
asked, ‘did you recite the full Quran everyday?’ The man answered yes.
The Judge, baffled asked, ‘how? How can you do that?’ The man coolly
answered, ‘I recite Surah Ikhlas three times a day and according to
Prophet Muhammad (saw), reciting Surah Ikhlas three times is equivalent
to reciting the whole Quran.’ The Judge was intrigued, so he asked,
‘how did you fast the whole year?’ The man answered, ‘ I fasted for the
whole month of Ramadan, then kept another six fasts in the month of
Shawwal, according to Prophet Muhammad (saw), keeping all of the fast
of Ramadan then keeping six fasts in the month of Shawwal, is as if you
have fasted for the whole year.’

The Judge remained silent, he
couldn’t give a reply saying the man was wrong, so finally he asked, ‘
how did you stay awake all night and worship Allah, when your wife saw
you sleeping?’ The Judge thought the man wouldn’t be able to answer
this one, but the man, cool as a cucumber answered, ‘I prayed Salatul
Isha with jamaat, then the next day prayed Salatul Fajr with jamaat,
according to Prophet Muhammad (saw), the one who prays Salatul Isha and
Salatul Fajr with jamaat, it is as if he had stayed up all night
worshipping Allah.’

The Judge sat there looking at the man; the final verdict was about to be released…

He said to the man and his wife, ‘…go, just go, there is nothing wrong with this marriage’…

Subhan'Allah, a mother so protective.....

AssalamuAlaikum,

Before you were conceived she wanted you...
a friend was fortunate enough to survive, walking out of the ruins
alive and with a story. It was a story that surfaces in every disaster,
a story so common, yet it touches us all while we go about our lives.

When the rescuers found her, she was already dead, crushed by the
collapsed building. They could see her through the debris, on her knees
with hands flat on the ground, holding up her body. It was almost as if
she was bowing ceremoniously, but her body was misshapen, crushed by
the building. Rescuers reached a hand in to check that she was dead,
shouting and using a stick to lightly knock on the bricks, waiting for
a reply or some sign of life from her that never came. When the group
turned their attention towards the next pile of debris, the team leader
suddenly rushed back, shouting, “Over here, hurry!” He once again
stopped in front of her body, trying his best to reach a hand in to
feel the ground sheltered by her torso, shouting, “There’s someone
here, a child, still alive!”

The rescuers worked to move the debris carefully, finding her
child sheltered beneath her torso. A baby, about four months old,
wrapped in a red blanket with yellow flowers stitched on. Sheltered by
his mother’s body, he was unscathed. They carried him out from the
debris, sound asleep, his sleeping face warming the hearts of everyone
at the scene in the face of death.

A doctor rushed over, undoing the blanket to check for signs of
injury on the baby. He found a handphone stuffed under the blanket, and
instinctively glanced at the screen. There was a message on the screen,
“My darling, if you live through this, please remember that I love you.”
Despite having seen death countless times, tears rolled down the
doctor’s face. The handphone was passed around, evoking tears from
everyone at the scene.

The young mother must have tried calling for help using the
handphone, but in disasters of this scale, telecommunications often
fail. She spent her last moments leaving a message for her beloved
child.

My darling baby, if you’re alive, then Mum is too
It was Mum who had given you life

The other time Mum was in great pain

This time Mum is in heaven above

–but now Mum can kiss you no more

Mum must have fed you for the last time

Mum must have changed your nappy for the last time

Mum must have kissed you again and again, till her last breath

Mum must have kept talking to you, till the last moment

My darling baby, as long as you’re alive, Mum’s hope goes on

–a hope that was sheltered by a delicate body

–a hope that was raised up by an immortal life

My darling baby, if you are alive, then Mum is too

Mum’s blood is running in your vessels

Mum’s genes are thriving in every one of your cells
You are Mum’s dreams in heaven

You are the resurrection of Mum’s life

My darling baby, if you are alive, then Mum is too

You are the extension of Mum’s life

You are the eternity of a mother’s love
• Imam Bukhari (R.A) lost his father when he was young, so he was
brought up by his mother. He had lost the use of his eyes in the early
stages of his childhood. However, due to the pious and lengthy prayers
of his mother his eyesight was returned miraculously. The news had
reached his mother through a dream in which Ibrahim (A.S) had appeared
and said, "Due to your bountiful and sacred prayers Allah Ta’alaa has
returned the eyesight of your son."

The dream was proven to be true in the morning.

We all know who is imam Bukhari (R.A) .

• Ali ibn Abi Talib (radhiallahu anhu) received wisdom, virtue and good
character from his distinguished mother, Fatimah bint Asad.

• Abdullah ibn Ja’far, the master of Arab generosity and the most noble
of their leaders, lost his father at an early age, but his mother Asma’
bint ‘Umays took care of him and give him the virtues and noble
characteristics by virtue of which she herself became one of the great
women of Islam.

Religion & Science

Religion and the Scientist

...seated side by side, two gentlemen from two different world...

And there they were, on a flight from Cape Town to Durban, seated side
by side, two gentlemen from two different worlds.......After the
formalities were covered, the conversation continued........

Bob: I don't believe in God, but rather in science and technology,
something tangible you see, but if you can prove to me scientifically
that God does exist then I would consider such a thought.

Yunus: Okay, you being interested in technology, please answer this
question......with regard to an advanced machine or electronic device,
who would be the one to know the most about its mechanism or
functioning?

Bob: Well, perhaps the person who has invented or manufactured such a machine.

Yunus: Can we agree that it is the maker or creator of the product who
would know every-thing there is to know about the product.

Bob: I don't see why not, it sounds reasonable.

Yunus: Being knowledgeable in these matters, the next question I'd like
to ask you is, Just how did the world or the universe come into
existence?

Bob: According to recent scientific research, the whole universe was
one gigantic mass, which scientists call the primary Nebula, they tell
us that it was a cosmic explosion or a secondary explosion that gave
rise to the sun, the stars, the planets and even the Earth we live on.

Yunus: Is this what you believe?

Bob: Yes of course, these are established facts based on scientific
proofs. In fact, this idea was realised in 1973 and termed the 'BIG
BANG' theory.

Yunus: I see, well I have a surprise for you....In the Holy Quraan,
chapter 21, verse 30 says. "Do the disbelievers not see that the
heavens and the earth were joined together, then I split them apart".
Here we can see that the Holy Quraan is speaking about this 'BIG BANG'
theory and let me tell you that the Holy Quraan was revealed over 1400
years ago.

Bob: I have heard about the Quraan, but can you refresh my memory.

Yunus: Sure, the Muslim believes the Quraan to be the word of God, pure
and unadulterated which was revealed verbally to the Prophet _____ of
Islam, Mohammed, Peace be upon him, through the agency of the Angel
Gabriel. The Holy Quraan was completed over a period of 23 years, that
is over the prophetic life of the Prophet _____________ of Islam.

Bob: Are you sure that the Quraan is over 14 centuries old and secondly, that the Quraan has not been changed.

Yunus: Absolutely, it is a historical fact that the Holy Quraan was
completed in the seventh century and has remained unchanged ever since.
Historians, whether friends or foes to Islam, testify to this.

Bob: Well then, perhaps it's a guess.

Yunus:.....What does science say about the shape of the Earth ?

Bob: Previously, Man thought that the Earth was flat, until Sir Frances
Drake in 1607 finally proved it to be spherical. Today, the term Geoid
is used to describe this spherical shape.

Yunus: Amazingly the Holy Quraan in chapter 31, verse 29 says, "Have
you not seen how God merges the night into the day and merges the day
into the night." The use of the word merges emphasizes a slow gradual
change, and this is not possible if the earth is flat.

Bob: Go on.

Yunus: Further in chapter 39, verse 5, it says, "He coils the night
upon the day and he coils the day upon the night." The word used in the
original arabic text is "Kaw'wara" which means coils or winds, the
significance of this verb is that you usually coil something around a
rather spherical object. You say that this fact was discovered
recently, well relatively recently, who could have mentioned this in
the Holy Quraan over 1400 years ago ?

Bob: I'm not convinced.

Yunus: Fine, tell me where the light of the Moon comes from?

Bob: Centuries ago people thought that the Moon was a miniature version
of the Sun and that both emitted their own light, but recently studies
confirmed that the Moon reflected the Sun's light.

Yunus: The Holy Quraan in chapter 25, verse 61 mentions, "Blessed is
the one who placed the constellations in the Heaven and placed therein
a lamp and a Moon reflecting light." Here the Sun is referred to as a
lamp for it has its own illumination, while the Moon is said to have
reflected light or borrowed light, meaning not its own.

Bob: Its probably conjecture...guesswork.

Yunus: For the sake of a discussion I won't argue. Anyway, let us
proceed....... When I was in school in the 80's, my teacher told me
that the Sun remains stationary whilst the planets although rotating
around their axes do revolve around the Sun as well.

Bob: Is that what your Quraan says, that the Sun is stationary....Ha!

Yunus: No, the Holy Quraan does not say this. This is what I learned in school.

Bob: Today, science has advanced. We have come to know that the Sun
does in fact revolve around its own axis. You see, the Sun if observed
with the apppropriate scientific apparatus reveals to possess the
"Black spots". Continuous observation shows that these black spots take
25 days to complete a revolution. Therefore we conclude that the Sun
rotates and that it takes approximately 25 days to complete one full
rotation around its axis.

Yunus: Well, this is nothing new to the muslim for it is revealed in
the Holy Quraan in chapter 21, verse 33, "(God is) the One who created
the night, the day, the Sun and the Moon, each one spinning around its
own axis (travelling in an orbit)". Here it is evident that the Sun and
the Moon both rotate and further the celestial law of orbital movement
is made mention of. You tell me who could have mentioned these
scientific facts in the Holy Quraan which you say was discovered
recently by your scientists ? Before you answer that question, tell
me......is there a difference between a star and a planet?

Bob: Yes, today we know that stars are heavenly bodies like the Sun in
that they produce their own light, while planets on the other hand, do
not produce their own light....like the earth on which we live.

Yunus: The Holy Quraan mentions scientific facts not only in the field of astronomy.

Bob: I'm listening.

Yunus: In several verses of the Holy Quraan the details of the water
cycle is mentioned. It explains that the water from the earth and
ground rises up and forms clouds .............. these clouds condense,
there is lightning and rain falls from the clouds. This is evident from
the following quotations ...........chapter 39, verse 21, "Have you not
seen that Allah sent rain down from the sky and caused it to penetrate
the ground, and come forth as springs.......", In chapter 23, verse 18,
"We sent down water from the sky measure and lodged it in the ground
and we certainly are able to withdraw it", and also in chapter 24,
verse 43, "Have you not seen that God makes the clouds move gently,
then joins them together, then makes them a heap. And you see rain
drops falling from the midst of it ........"

Bob: According to my knowledge, the first coherent account of the water cycle was presented by Bernard Palissy in 1580.

Yunus: This is the exact distinction that the Holy Quraan makes between
stars and planets. In chapter 86, verse 1-3, "By the sky and the night
visitor, who will tell you what the night visitor is, the star of
piercing brightness", which obviously refer to the stars. The planets
are described as ornaments in chapter 37, verse 6, as it reads, "We
have indeed adorned the lowest heaven with ornaments, the planets".

Bob: ............................... Hmmmmmm.........................It
is no secret that the Arabs were advanced in the field of astronomy,
and perhaps it was these learned astronomers that passed their findings
to the Prophet _____________.

Yunus: I do agree that the Arabs were advanced in astronomy, but I'm
afraid that you have the order or sequence of events incorrect.

Bob: What do you mean?!

Yunus: Let me remind you that the Holy Quraan was revealed centuries
before the Arabs became advanced in this field of astronomy, so it was
the Arabs who learnt about astronomy from the Quraan and most
definitely not vice versa.

The Holy Quraan in chapter 30, verse 48 mentions that, "God is the one
who sends forth the winds which raised up the clouds. He spreads them
in the sky as he wills and breaks them into fragments. Then you see
rain drops issuing from within them.....". While on the topic of
Geography, I am sure you understand what is meant by the term
"Folding".

Bob: Yes, you see.... the crust of the earth is relatively thin and
mountain ranges due to the phenomenon of folding provides stability for
the earth.

Yunus: The Holy Quraan in chapter 78, verse 6-7 gives us an indication
of the very same phenomenon as it says, "Have we not made the earth an
expanse and the mountains stakes".

Here the word "stakes" is synonymous with the word pegs as in holding
the earth in place. Further the first part of this verse shows us that
the earth is not flat for it is an expanse ..... meaning that you can
walk and walk without falling off.

The former idea is clarified in chapter 21, verse 31....."We placed the
ground (mountains) standing firm so that it does not shake with them".
Here we are told that mountains allow for the maintenance of the earths
stability by preventing the earth's shape to change in such a way so as
to cause it to move out of its orbit. Permit me to go on
........scientists pointed out recently that salt water and fresh water
do not mix.......is that correct ?

Bob: That is correct.....this phenomenon is observed at various
locations......for example the region where the Nile river meets with
the Mediterranean sea and more especially in the Gulf stream where
these two bodies of water flow together for thousands of kilometres.

Yunus: In chapter 25, verse 53 it reads, ....... "God is the one that
has let free two seas, one is sweet and palatable and the other is
salty and bitter. He placed an unseen barrier between them, a partition
that is forbidden to pass". A similar message is given in chapter 55,
verses 19 and 20, "He has loosed the two seas. They meet together.
Between them there is an unseen barrier which they do not
transgress........"

Bob: Maybe some Arabs whist diving or swimming made such an observation.

Yunus: Unlikely, what you fail to realize is that the Holy Quraan too
testifies that it is an unseen barrier and therefore it could not and
still cannot be observed.

Bob: I see..... according to Darwinism and the theory of evolution, it
is claimed that all life began in the sea or oceans.........can you
tell me what does your Quraan say about this.....if anything at all.

Yunus: Yes, but first tell me just why does this theory have such a conclusion.....that life began in the Oceans....

Bob: Well, one of the reasons is that the chemical make-up or
composition of human and animal life shows that water is the chief
constituent. In fact between 50 and 90 %.

Yunus: In chapter 21, verse 30, it also says.............."And We made
every living thing from water. Will they still not believe". Can you
imagine that in the deserts of Arabia, where there is obviously a
scarcity of water, who would have guessed that not only man but every
living thing is made from

water.

Bob: I am aware that Cytoplasm, the main constituent of the cell is
composed of approximately eighty percent water and that every living
creature is of fifty or ninety percent water.

Yunus: Who could have mentioned these facts in the Quraan over 1400
years ago ?...there are over hundreds of facts in the Holy Quraan that
modern science cannot find fault with today. On the topic of theories
.......Can you explain to me just what is meant by the theory of
drifting continents.

Bob: Sure, all our continents were at one time parts of one
consolidated land mass, then following an explosion, they were
scattered or rather pushed away all over the surface of the earth.
Therefore if you look carefully at the world map, you would see for
example that the East coast of South America would fit neatly against
the West coast of Africa.

Yunus: A similar idea is reflected in the Holy Quraan in the chapter
79, verse 30, "and the earth He extended after that and then drew from
it water and pastures". It says that the Earth passed through a stage
when God had caused the land masses to drift apart.

Bob: Are you using scientific knowledge to prove the Quraan ?

Yunus: No, the Quraan is not a book of science but rather a book of
signs. In fact, it has over 6000 signs (verses) out of which 1000 of
these deal with scientific knowledge. I am not using science to prove
something correct, you need a yardstick or knowledge that is absolute,
something ultimate.....

Yunus: To the educated men like yourself, those that do not believe in
God, science is generally your yardstick.....but to the Muslim, the
Holy Quraan is our ultimate yardstick....the Quraan is also referred to
as the "Furqaan" which is the arabic word meaning, the criterion
between that which is right and that which is wrong. Therefore I am
using your yardstick 'science' to prove to you what is said in the Holy
Quraan. What your yardstick has said in relatively recent times ......
mine has said 14 centuries ago. Can we agree, therefore, that the
Quraan is superior to science and that the Quraan is the ultimate
yardstick.

Bob: Tell me more.

Yunus: The Quraan says in chapter 20, verse 53, "(God is the one) who
sent down rain from the sky and with it brought forth a variety of
plants in pairs". Here the Holy Quraan mentions a scientific fact which
was discovered much later in history ..... that is .......the plant
kingdom too has male and female types. This is also echoed in chapter
13, verse 3, "...........and of all fruits (God) placed on the earth
two pairs ......."

Yunus: A branch of the field of Zoology has recently pointed out that
there exists various social dynamics in the animal world. The Holy
Quraan tells us the same, that the animals and birds live in
communities in chapter 6, verse 38, "There is no animal on earth, no
bird which flies on wings, that (does not belong to) communities like
you .....".

Yunus: If I tell you that the Holy Quraan tells us of ants talking to
one another, you will probably laugh, but the branch of Zoology that I
am telling you about, has found the animal or insect which closely
resembles the dynamics of the human, is the ant ....... for apart from
an extremely 'advanced' system of communication (as is mentioned in the
Holy Quraan, chapter 27, verse 18), They ..... the ants bury the dead
and can have what can be said to be an equivalent of a market place.

Bob: Perhaps your Prophet _____________ was a very observant man who made notes of them.

Yunus: First I would like to inform you that history years witness that
the Prophet _____________ of Islam was an illiterate man in that he had
no formal schooling and therefore could not read nor write. In fact at
that time a great majority of Arabs were illiterate with only a
negligible number who were literate. Nonetheless, it is also mentioned
that it is the female bee that collects honey ........ Do you think
that anybody could be so observant as to pick this up? You have just
reminded me about something even more significant; in chapter 16, verse
69, it reads, "...... from their (bees) bodies comes a liquor of
different colours wherein is a remedy for men." Today the medical
scientist tell us that there are antiseptic qualities and applications
of honey. Furthermore, I believe that it is used in the treatment of
various allergies.

Bob: No wonder the Russian soldiers used to apply honey on their
wounds. Yes, and as a result, the wounds left very little scar tissue.

Yunus: In chapter 16, verse 66, the Holy Quraan described blood
circulation with regard to the production of milk in the cow ....... a
thousand years before William Harvey made it famous to the western
world. Let us examine the above mentioned reference, "Verily, in cattle
too is a lesson for you, we give to you to drink of what is in their
bodies, coming from a conjugation between the contents of the intestine
and the blood, a milk, pure and pleasant for those who drink it."

Bob: Tell me ...... what does the Quraan say about human beings?

Yunus: This question calls for a dissertation, for the Quraan deals
with humans from before the time of conception until after death.
.....But will you accept a brief exposition on some of the human embryo
logical data or proofs presented in the Quraan?

Bob: Please go on. This is interesting.

Yunus: We know that after fertilization, the egg or ovum descends from
the fallopian tube to lodge itself inside the uterus for gestation.
This is described in chapter 22, verse 5, ".... We cause whom we will
to rest in the womb for an appointed term......". As you know, there
are structures or elongations from the egg which develops to draw
nourishment from the uterus which is necessary for growth. These
structural formations make the egg or rather the zygote seem to be
literally clinging to the uterus ....... this, doubtedly, is a
scientific discovery of modern times for the western world.

Did you know this appearance of clinging is described five times in the
Holy Quraan. For example, in chapter 96, verses 1 & 2, "Read, in
the name of your Lord who fashioned man from something which clings".
Similar ideas are found in chapter 22, verse 5 - chapter 23, verse 14
and chapters 40 & 75. Furthermore, foetal growth is described in
great detail in chapter 23, verse 14, with regard to the development of
the skeleton. "Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood;
Then made that clot into a lump (foetus); then We made out of that lump
Bones and clothed the bones with flesh ............" ........ the verse
goes on further in this manner of description.

Also with regard to the order or sequence of the senses, the Holy
Quraan in chapter 32, verse 9 says, "......... He gave you (the
faculties of) hearing and of sight........". Today, medical cience
cannot argue with this sequence development of the senses in the foetus
for it confirms that the development of hearing is completed by five
months of pregnancy and that the eye is split open by the seventh month
of pregnancy.

These facts and more have been brought to light by the western world as
late as 1940. Furthermore, Professor Keith More, an embryologist at the
university of Toronto in Canada, was asked to make a comparative study
of the Embryo logical data in the Holy Quraan with that of modern
scientific knowledge and he responded as follows, "The 1300 year old
Quraan contains messages so accurate about embryonic development that
muslims can reasonably believe them to be from God."

Bob: If this is true then how come it has not been recorded in the media?

Yunus: But it was ....... check the archives ......for example .......
the citizen, a Canadian Newspaper dated 22 November 1984, under the
heading "Ancient Holy Book 1300 years ahead of its time". Or the times
of India, New Delhi ...... dated 10 December 1984 under the caption
"Koran scores over modern sciences."

Bob: This is really fascinating......don't stop..........continue....

Yunus: At this point I am reminded of a very powerful verse of the Holy
Quraan which appears in chapter 41, verse 53, "Soon shall we show them
our signs in the (furthest) regions of the earth , and in their own
souls, until it becomes manifest to them that this is the truth......".

Yunus: The holy Quraan even speaks about diabetics.

Bob: What do you mean?

Yunus: You see, certain foodstuffs are declared unfit for human consumption and are therefore prohibited.

Bob: While we are on the topic of food ....... tell me why is it that a
muslim is very particular about the words Halaal and Haraam ...... What
do they mean?

Yunus: That which is permissible is termed Halaal and that which is not
permissible is termed Haraam and it is the Quraan which draws the
distinction between the two.

Bob: Can you give me an example ?

Yunus: Yes, Islam has prohibited blood of any type. You will agree that
a chemical analysis of blood shows that it contains an abundance of
uric acid, a chemical substance which can be injurious to human health.

Bob: You're right about the toxic nature of uric acid, in the human
being it is excreted as a waste product....... in fact we are told that
98% of the bodies uric acid is extracted from the blood by the kidneys
and removed through urination.

Yunus: Now I think that you'll appreciate the special prescribed method of animal slaughter in Islam.

Bob: What do you mean ?

Yunus: You see.....the wielder of the knife, whilst taking the name of
the Almighty, makes an incision through the jugular veins, leaving all
other veins of the neck intact.

Bob: I see.....this causes the death of the animal by a total loss of
blood from the body, rather than an injury to any vital organ.

Yunus: Yes, were the organs, example the heart, the liver, or the brain
crippled or damaged, the animal could die immediately and its blood
would congeal in its veins and would eventually permeate (spread
throughout) the flesh. This implies that the animal flesh would be
permeated and contaminated with uric acid and therefore very poisonous
...... only today did our dietitians realise such a thing.

Bob: Again, while on the topic of food........ Why do Muslims condemn
the eating of pork or ham or any foods related to pigs or swine.

Yunus: Actually, apart from the Quraan prohibiting the consumption of
pig flesh, ......in fact the Bible too in Leviticus chapter 11, verse
8, .....regarding swine it says, "of their flesh (of the swine) shall
you not eat, and of their carcase you shall not touch; they are unclean
to you." Further, did you know that a pig cannot be slaughtered at the
neck for it does not have a neck ..........that is according to its
natural anatomy. A Muslim reasons that if the pig was to be slaughtered
and fit for human consumption the creator would have provided it with a
neck. Nonetheless, ........all that aside, I am sure you are well
informed about the harmful effects of the consumption of pork, in any
form, be it pork chops ...... ham ...... bacon.......

Bob: The medical sciences find that there is a risk for various
diseases as the pig is found to be a host for many parasites and
potential diseases.

Yunus: Yes, even apart from that ....as we talked about uric acid
content in the blood.....it is important to note that the pig's
biochemistry excretes only 2% of its total uric acid content...... the
remaining 98% remains as an integral part of the body. This explains
the high rate of Rheumatism found in those who consume pork.

Bob: Let's fasten our seatbelts ......I think we are going to land
shortly .... I guess its true - time does fly when you're having fun.
I've never heard these arguments before and I'd like to hear
more.......just what is the basic theme of the Holy Quraan anyway ?

Yunus: The basic theme is of salvation, in this life and in the life
hereafter..... it does not fall into the category of any known arts or
sciences of the world, but since it addresses itself to mankind, it
touches on almost all the disciplines which concern Him. Thus the
Quraan surprisingly encompassed truths which were to be discovered and
confirmed much later as our discussion has shown.

Bob: This reminds me of the wise words of Sir Francis, who said, "It is
a little knowledge of science that makes you an Atheist, and it is an
in-depth study of science that makes you a believer in God Almighty".

Thereafter nobody said a word ........they each sat back and looked forward waiting for touch down.........

Saturday, April 12, 2008

Ibn Qayyim says in his Madarij al-Salikin:

“The Heart, in its journey to Allah (swt) is like that of a bird:

Love is its head, and fear and hope are its two wings. When the

Spare a few minutes and read this true story...

Remove Him From This Land

by Muhammad al-Sharîf

In the book, 'Muslim Judges of Andalus', by Abû al-Hasan ibn Abdullâh
al-Mâliqî, he recounts a story about the great scholar of our Ummah:
Muhammad ibn At-Tayyib Abû Bakr al-Bâqillânî (d. 1013). Let’s spend a
moment in his sandals, perhaps we may feel the power that Islâm had in
the hearts of those Muslims.

This event took place when the Khalifah of the Muslims sent him to the Roman King.

Quote:

Ibn Hayyân says: The transgressor - the King of the Romans - invited
Abû Bakr al-Bâqillânî to a Christian banquet and on the appointed day,
Abu Bakr Al-Bâqillânî arrived. The hall was lush with Christian
noblemen, the walls and tables dazzled in the decorations.

At that moment, the King beckoned AlBâqillânî near, sitting him a step
down from his throne and complimenting him with flattering questions.
All around the King sat noblemen and those most nearest to his counsel.

Then the Batrik (the High priest) entered the banquet hall with his
entire splendor, the final guest, the chief of their religion. Swarming
him was an assembly of lower priests, each reciting the Injîl (Bible)
and carrying lanterns of incense, all of them dressed in their most
finely hemmed garments.

When the Batrik found himself in the center of the hall, the King stood
glorifying the Batrik. He bowed his head and rubbed both hands on the
Batrik’s shoulders. Then to his immediate right, the King sat the
Batrik down on a throne marvelous in it’s own right.

After the moment had passed and the crowd had focused on the stage in
that castle banquet hall, the King turned to AlBâqillânî and said with
a sniff, “O Faqîh! The Batrik is the chief of our religion, and the
guardian of the flock.”

AlBâqillânî turned to the Batrik with the warmest smile and the
gentlest of words. He asked the sweetest and most loving questions, and
then AlBâqillânî said:

“So Batrik‚ How are the wife and kids !?!"

(Remember, the popes would practice celibacy)

The hall fell silent. Blasphemy! The King was shocked. The Batrik was
outraged. Brows cringed, decorations dimmed, disgusted faces shaped on
all.

Then Abû Bakr AlBâqillânî said,

“O people, listen to me. You dislike that this mere mortal
could have a wife and children ascribed to him. And you deny any
allegation to the contrary. Yet when it comes to your Lord, Glorious
and most High, you do not feel the same disgust. And you attribute to
Allah both the wife and child that you would never allow your Batrik to
be associated with.”

“Suddatan lihâdha ar-Ra - Perished be your claim! How clearly wrong it is! “

It fell in the Christians hands and they had no answer. Fear and nervousness shook their hearts.

Quickly the King turned to the Batrik and whispered in his ear, “What shall we do?"

He replied,

“Treat this man honorably, complete the dinner, then expel this
Iraqi trouble maker from your land; today if you can. Otherwise, you
shall not be safe from his mischief."

The King did as he was advised. AlBâqillânî was returned to Iraq - back
to the Khalîfah - with gifts and many Muslim prisoners finally
released.

This is a true story that happened in the year 1002 CE. May Allah reward handsomely those that preserved it for us.

Beloved Mustafa (pbuh)

The Prophetic Character 22nd February, 2008

Ibn Qudåmah al-Maqdisi

The Messenger of Allåh, peace be upon him, was the mildest of people,
and also the warmest and most generous of them. He would mend his own
sandels, patch his own clothes and help his family with the daily
errands. He was extremely shy; shyer even than a virgin behind a veil.

He would respond to the invitation of slaves, visit the sick, walk
alone [without guards or fanfair], allow others to saddle-up with him
on his mount, accept gifts, eat food that was sent as a gift; though he
never consumed anything that had been given as charity. He did not have
enough

dates with which to be sated, nor was he sated with barely-bread for
more than three consecutive nights. He would eat whatever food was
readily available and never did he criticise food. He never ate
reclining, and ate from what was nearest to him.

He loved perfumes and disliked foul odours. He honoured people of
virtue, and maintained affectionate ties with nobles and dignitaries.
He never snubbed anyone and would accept the excuse of those who
presented excuses.

He would joke, but never would he utter anything untrue. He laughed,
but did not burst with laughter. He would not let any time pass without
being in the service of Allåh, Exalted is He, or being engaged in
whatever was essential for his own self-development.

He never once cursed a woman, nor abused a servant. Never did he strike
anyone, except for in jihåd in Allåh’s path. He did not exact revenge
for his own sake, but did so when Allåh’s limits had been transgressed.
If he was presented with two options he adopted the easier of the two,
unless it entailed disobedience or the severing of ties - in which case
he would be the furthest away from it.

Anas remarked: “I served him for ten years and he never once rebuked me
in the least; nor did he say about anything I had done, ‘Why did you do
it?’ or anything I had not done, ‘Why did you not to it?’”

His description in the Torah is: “Muhammad, the Messenger of Allåh and
My Chosen Slave. He is neither harsh nor severe. He does not shout in
the market places, nor repay evil with evil, but instead he pardons and
forgives” ...

He would sit in an assembly wherever it was convenient, and he would
mingle among his Companions as one of them, so much so that when a
stranger came he would not be able to distinguish him from other,
except after inquiring as to who he was. He would take to long periods
of silence; but when he did speak he did so slowly and clearly,
repeating himself so that

he would be clearly understood. He used to pardon, even when he was in
a position to punish, and he would not confront anyone with what they
did not like.

He was the most truthful of people; one who most fufilled his
commitments; the easiest going of people; the most affiable; and the
most generous of them in companionship. Whoever gazed upon him
unexpectedly, would be awe-stricken by him; whoever associated with him
and came to know him, loved him. His Companions, whenever they spoke
about worldly affairs, he would join in with them; and when, in
recollecting their pre-Islamic days, they would laughed, he would
simply smile.

He was the bravest of men; one Companion recalled: When the fighting
became intense, we would seek shelter behind Allåh’s Messenger; peace
be upon him.

http://web.mac.com/jawziyyah/The_Jawziyyah_Institute/Home_files/Prophetic%20Character.pdf
Letter to his wife....

AssalamuAlaikum, You can either read this, or watch the video below, or both.

A letter a mudjahid wrote to his wife..

Dedicated to my princess,

You never complained when you knew we would have nothing. You were contempt on having what little you needed. Where others would have left or moaned you never once let out a sigh. You understood what was written was what we would eat.

I never once complained about what was put in front of me as I knew it was your hands that brought it to me. When I had nothing I had you. We smiled as we saw the destruction around us knowing that these people were not true.

You
never felt sympathy towards the enemy. You put your trust in your Rubb
and in turn you followed me. Never did I have to wonder about you as my
secrets my honour and my Deen were safe with you.

When the enemy barked you never flinched. You were strong and in turn made me strong.
We both know what hardships you faced just being with me but not a word did you speak.

Like
a vanguard for this Ummah you concealed yourself. Where others would
rush to please their desires you were the essences of Taqwa.
Life
was easy with you and it came so naturally. You were the extension of
me and I would never need to finish my words as who knew me better then
you....

It's the little things that make the person and you would have easily have kept me going for a lifetime.

I
loved your jealousy. I loved to tease you with the thought of others
just so I could know how dear I was to you. The way you would look at
me with fire in your eyes showed me that I was the only one for you.
You stole my heart and hide it away. You know your place it's by my
side. What chance did shaytan have when you would ensure that fajr was
the easiest of the salahs. I loved that you would forsake me in an
instant to fast a voluntary fast. I loved that the Haq was dearer to
you then my life and those of our jewels

Watching you makes me
laugh as I wonder if my heart will ever want another as I watch you
feed my child, as you lift her out of the bath, as you wipe her little
nose and the face she pulls. You will never find a diamond in the hands
of the poor in the same way our diamond deserves to be carried in your
hands. We could have it all my love but who sells Paradise for an hour
of passing pleasure? Not us.

I chose you Umm ****** the
loyalties of my babies are. They will love what we love they will love
Allah Most Glorified Most High, they will Love the Prophets and the
best of Companions, They will love those who they have never met but
will long to meet. They will love those better then us. They will live
to honour one statement. Others will fall under the weight of La illiha
illiha but not them. Their hearts will beat it, their words testify to
it and their hands carry it.

Don't think I left you. Don't
think that in this world anything is dearer to me then the minute that
I walk home knowing what waits for me behind closed doors. I went to
find a better place for us. I went to fulfil the best of deals. I saw
it written that if you give your life then eternity will be ours. I saw
it written somewhere that this was all a test and I have no doubt that
one who promises us and whose word is truth must love me very much as
he gave me you and you were the hardest thing to give up. They say the
mind cannot comprehend what awaits us. They say that sadness will
forgotten, they say that the eye has yet to see and the ear has yet to
hear the beauties that await us in our new home. They say rivers of
honey my love they say rivers of milk they say rivers of wine. They say
pearls and Gold thrones , they say musk and cool breezes. Is it not
fitting that I go to see this land afar to take you and our children? I
fear that the gates of opportunity will close behind me my love. I fear
others will hear what I hear and rush there and I will have nothing to
offer you.

I know you will send our sons to look for their
father. Tell them that they will find me in every battle, in every
fight where the black flag is flown.
Tell them that the pain will
be a pinch and then they will see what I see. Tell them Green Birds
wish to meet them. Tell the Angels will call them by the best of names
and most of all that Allah The One The Eternal will be pleased with
them.

I told you once that only 2 things will have me. You and
death. My life was with you but now I must marry again. I must marry
what was promised to me the moment I was born. I must marry my fate and
in turn I must marry death. After death will come reckoning and if I
stand with the best of creation I will with the permission of Allah
Lord of the Heavens and the Earth I will beg for you. None was worthy
to stand next to me in this life so why is it I should desire another
in the next?
