Membership 2006-2007!

There’s lots of new events planned for you and you won’t want to miss them!  Here’s just some of them; stay tuned via e-mail and our website!

TDK knows that honors students aren’t all brains, so we’re sponsoring new activities where we can have fun and not worry about sounding smart, like the always-popular parties at Dr. Mills’, sponsored this year by TDK.  Or the all-new TDK dinners where we can get together with old friend, have fun, and, of course, eat.

Of course, even as we expand, we’re not stopping any traditional TDK activities.  We hope you’ll continue to share Christ’s love with others by participating in TDK’s service projects.  And expect some great lectures and discussions on relevant and challenging topics so we can better live as informed Christians.

That’s not all!  We’ll also be helping out the incoming freshman as they face MOMM by offering study sessions for those killer essays, and we’ll keep up the mentoring program.  We hope you’ll be involved in this activity to invest in others, just as we have been invested in by others.

And there’s still more!  TDK is excited to announce a brand-new activity you’ll definitely not want to miss: a spring trip to an art museum with none other than Dr. Mills!  You will not want to miss this members-only event!

And there’s still more!  Become a member, stay tuned, and find out!  TDK serves the entire honors community, but these events are made possible through your support of TDK.  Join as a member, support the org, and get one of these awesome long-sleeve T-shirts!

This first one is for freshman (or others by special request).

And this second is for everyone else who will get this routine-MOMM- question-turned-joke .

Contact TDK (taudelta@cedarville.edu) to become a member!  We're looking forward to a great year and hope you can join us!

Hey everyone!

Hope your summers are going tremendously well and you're enjoying a wonderful break from school and studies.  As many of you already know, TDK's leadership has once again been passed off to "the next generation" and we're planning some great things for the upcoming year.  We'll keep you informed (and any feedback is highly desired!), but it's gonna be good and fun.

TDK is looking to design a long-sleeve T-shirt to give away to ex-MOMMers who become TDK members in the coming year.  Last year, the TDK hoodies were a great success and we'd like to come up with a design even cooler and better for ex-MOMMers.  So, we're offering this up as a contest to all ex-MOMMers (and particularly those graphic design majors) -- Design the coolest ever TDK T-shirt and win free membership for next year, the coolest ever TDK T-shirt (signed by the designer (if you want)), and a $20 gift certificate to amazon.com -- Don't miss this opportunity!

If you're interested in the contest or want more info, e-mail us (taudelta@cedarville.edu) by June 17th and let us know!

TDK has a service project opportunity!

Note from Dr. Mills- "A friend of ours, Liz, runs the food pantry in our church. She is living in poverty herself, but gives selflessly to others. Her 22-year old son recently was diagnosed with cancer. He lives in Chilicothe, and she's been having to travel back and forth to there to care for him. We've been trying to help with her expenses for that, but she still lives penny to penny. Just recently, she's been told by her landlord that she needs to have her trailer painted (a trailer that was given to her some time ago and that is falling apart)."

What: An afternoon of trailer painting with your TDK friends

Where: Springfield

Date: Next Saturday (April 1)

Time of Departure: It's finally settled! We're meeting at 11:45 this Saturday afternoon in the SSC lounge by the admissions office. If you've offered to drive your car, go ahead and bring it to the SSC parking lot. Chances are that we won't need to use every a car, but it will be easier if we have them available just in case.

It's unclear how long the painting project will take, especially because we're not sure how many people are coming at this point. Several of you have already responded to say that you're planning to participate.

Dr. Mills has invited us to attend Midtown Church's activities on Saturday after we complete our project. Anyone is welcome to stay for the following activities (again, time permitting after we finish painting):

3:00 -- Adopt-A-Block in the neighborhood

5:00 -- Worship service

6:00 -- Meal

6:45 -- Showing of "Chronicles of Narnia" ("We've been going through that story with the kids, using it as a basis for talking about the gospel and the other Christian symbols in the movie, so we're going to surprise them with a showing of the movie on a big screen in the church.")

When we meet at 11:45 in the SSC, we can assign rides to Springfield depending on who wants to stay for the church's activities. That way, people who want/need to head back to Cedarville after the service project can do so.

Please RSVP to Megan Waters if you plan to come! We need to make sure we have the right painting equipment, etc. for the number of people planning to participate.

Thanks,

Megan Waters, Vice-President of TDK

A heads up for when we get back...

Friday, October 07, 2005

Ah, the tale is long and the moments short... but I will spin a tale for you indeed and one like no other!

Sing, O Muse, of several brave souls...

...who did what few dare: cross the treacherous waters of CedarLake in... paper?

Or... well... try?

But fear not! It was no tragedy. While our heros did not make it across dry, they survived to tell of their fearless exploit.

Mad props to Evan, Karen, and Matt!

Meanwhile... Holly was having some fun herself...
