SUMMMMMER is COMING...man am i excited.
And since i lost one of my best friends 2 days ago...Im gonna leave you with this.
ADAMSVILLE - Ryan Huffman was a young man who had skills when it came to machinery.
Whether it was rotating the tires on the his mother's car or fixing a friend's dirt bike, Ryan had a knack when it came to repairs. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and fish with his dad.
He was also a happy teenager who had lots of friends.
But Ryan was also brave. That bravery became evident during his four-month battle with cancer.
"He was the bravest person," said his mother, Julie. "He never let go."
Ryan, 17, who graduated from Tri-Valley High School on Sunday, passed away Tuesday. He was active in school clubs such as FFA and Ski Club and was also a member of the Glenn-Valley Corn Kickers 4-H.
Most his active free time was spent outdoors, where he would ride dirt bikes with his friends, or spend time with dad, Jeff. It's those times when father and son were outdoors fishing or hunting that Jeff will miss the most.
And there are plenty of things his loved ones and friends will miss about him.
"One of the things I will miss the most is when Ryan would come into my room and want to talk before he went to bed," Julie said.
There were the times when all of his friends would be over and Julie would cook for all of them. Or there were the times when Ryan would simply watch country music videos with his mom.
Julie and Ryan were supposed to attend a Kenny Chesney concert on Saturday. Julie had bought the tickets for him as a graduation present and when he got sick the Make-a-Wish Foundation had arranged for them to go backstage to meet the country superstar.
"He was going to get his guitar signed," Julie said.
Ryan was diagnosed with cancer on Jan. 23. He was moved from Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, to Children's Hospital to the James Cancer Center. Doctors did not know exactly what type of cancer he had, as he was diagnosed with cancer of the unknown primary.
Even though he was battling cancer, Ryan was still able to participate in his graduation ceremony. He also received a scholarship to attend Zane State College to study electrical engineering.
Ryan's life won't be defined by the cancer he fought, but instead by how he lived his life. Ryan was the kind of guy who, when his grandfather died last year, would stop every day to check on his Grandma Huffman to make sure she was doing OK.
He was the kind of friend who didn't mind helping his buddies.
He was the kind of big brother who didn't mind taking his little brother, Clint, around when he got his license.
And he will be missed.
Funeral services for Ryan will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 27, at the Adamsville United Methodist Church.
** I dont even know what to say after that. He sure is going to be missed by me. I love you Ryan. I'm just happy i can say i got to spend time with you while you were here and while you were sick. I love you buddy. And I'm going to keep all the promises i made to you. I'll see you soon.**
i miss you soo much ryan..you will ALWAYS be my best friend. no one will EVER take your place.
