| Hi, we're back! After a too-long hiatus, the College Thing (new name suggestions welcome) blog has returned! Sorry for the long wait to those of you who read this, but we have finally gotten our leaders together and we have a lot of exciting things in store for this year!
First off, we would like to have college students involved with the youth, so College students are invited to chaperone junior high/high school events. We especially need chaperones for the day-hike which is on August 10. We'll meet at the church at 7am, then drive the vans up to Payson for the day and hike on Fossil Springs trail. There will be rope swinging and rock jumping. Don't expect to be back until the afternoon. You'll need water and lunch. Check our website for info on all upcoming events. www.trinityofmesa.org under Student ministries. (includes events for Jr. high, Sr. high and college)
Broomball info has changed! There is a back to school bash on August 11 starting at 6pm. There will be a bbq, basketball, volleyball, and water-balloon toss. There will be a worship concert with a local band. We'll take an offering to cover the cost of the band and food. Later on in the night we will be going to broomball, which will cost $5 per person as usual. If you want to come to broomball, you need to come to the school bash before hand. If you can't work around your work schedule but you still would like to meet us for Broomball talk to Nate or just E-mail us @ tbccollege@yahoo.com OR tbccollege@gmail.com, which is the E-mail for the blog :)
If you want to be involved in a small group and are not involved in one already, fill out the small-group sheet found on our website, then hand it to Nate Johnson or Angela Mashaw. You can also E-mail it to the above addresses if you're Web-savvy.
To get info about upcoming events in the mail or via E-mail, send your address to tbcoffice@trinityofmesa.org. Be sure to put "student mailing list" or "college mailing list" in your subject heading, or it will get deleted. Some of our contact info might be outdated, so any pertinent info (such as phone # if you like) would be appreciated.
College Sunday school meets at the Guyette house @ 9am 740 N. Oracle Mesa, AZ 85203
We will also be meeting for the next two Tuesday nights to get things restarted for the group. More information on that will follow when we...um, have more information.
Finally, don't forget that the college group has an E-mail specifically for prayer requests: tbccollegeprayer@gmail.com, and please send them as you get them, even if it's an unspoken request.
That's all for now folks!

| NinjaI was thinking about what Jesus would be like in the world today. In
his time, to be a carpenter would be a very respected and lucrative
profession. It still is today, but I wonder if that would be what Jesus
would have chosen. I have no doubt that he would be great at many
things, but I have decided that Jesus would not be good at at least
one: ninjitsu. Yes, I said it, Jesus would not make a good ninja.
Before you get upset, let me explain. The art of ninjitsu involves
stealth above all else. You must be sneaky, cunning, and able to blend
into the shadows. It involves deception and patience. Jesus would not
excel at this. The reason why is simple: Jesus had nothing to hide. He
had no reason to hold back or decieve anyone, nor did he have any
desire to blend in.
In short, Jesus was, if anything, an anti-ninja. His very aim was to
confront people with the truth in a direct yet kind way, and he did it
publicly, in full view of his enemies. Jesus knew that it was only a
matter of time before his lack of stealth got him killed, but he
approached life with the intent of living it to the fullest. He never
saved anything for later, and I think that is something we need to take
from him.
Do we choose to hold back from telling someone about Christ in order to
"live to fight another day," or can we be like Jesus, and make every
moment count no matter who sees us? Think about it.

| Can You Find Us???Howdy folks~
I realize that some of you out there have been anxious to contact us to
comment on this blog, but you don't have a Xanga account! Not to worry.
There are two e-mails just for this blog.
The first one is tbccollege@gmail.com.
It is the main address, so
if you want to ask questions, give suggestions for postings (please!),
or just give a shoutout, this is where to write.
The second one is tbccollegeprayer@gmail.com
This one is for prayer
requests only. Don't worry, we won't betray your trust, but please let
us know if we can put your request along with others in a weekly prayer
request posting. We all need prayer, after all.
While you're thinking about
what words of wisdom to E-mail, please take the time to pray for our
college group leaders. We desperately want to be there for you all, but
we cannot do it without your prayers.
Thanks!
