EXACTLY ONE YEAR!

Random. Today I randomly looked at the date of my last post and noticed it's been EXACTLY one year since I've last written in this blog. Wow. Crazy random. I'm writing this just for the sole purpose of that reason.

Maybe I should do that. Write something once a year and compare it with my previous year and see what has changed and what hasn't changed at all. It makes me wonder what has happened to Xanga. Just like me, a lot of people that I know have stopped posting in it or rarely post at all. What caused this sudden success climb to drastic pitfall?

I think the problem lies in the design and User Interface (UI) of Xanga. Blogspot and Wordpress just have a better aesthetic design element to their layouts and their UI is much easier and simpler to use. Xanga is too cluttered like a Jonas Bros concert with teenyboppers. More buttons and options doesn't mean it's easier and simpler. Also, I feel serious bloggers have migrated from Xanga to Blogspot or Wordpress because you can do more to it like buy a domain name and even move your blog to a website.

Maybe I should just migrate also to Wordpress. Or maybe I'll write in both. Wordpress will be daily and Xanga will be yearly. I'll think about it first though. Writing is too hard and takes too much time. AND I feel like you need pictures to get people to read your post these days. But who can blame the readers when the society is moving towards more and more instant gratification. Everyone has a digital camera these days. Why not use it?

Thoughts on Korea

I've been in Korea for 6 days and somewhat a few things have happened already. I'll talk about my trip later when I upload some pics with it so I can do a Show & Tell just like in elementary school. For now I just want to make an amusing, non-serious critique about Korea for the 6 days I've been here.

Top 10 Critiques on Korea
(In no particular order except for #1)

10. No Mexican food. Where's my pollo asada fries?
09. They have cameras that snapshot cars exceeding the speed limit. I drove my friend's car and got caught speeding. ㅠ_ㅠ At least I don't have to pay for it haha.
08. Road system here is ridiculous. It's confusing to find your way around driving even with navigation system. My cousin got lost today and took us an extra hour to get to Herb Island.
07. There is no tissue paper cover seat for public bathrooms. Nasty. I felt uneasy taking a dump without it.
06. The subway train closes at midnight. That's too early for a night owl like me.
05. Not too fond of Korean fashion style. I went to Dongdaemun, and only bought one shirt. It's too flashy, gaudy, and campy and fake hahaha. I saw Tommy Atkins (Tommy Hilfigier) and Paul Phillips (Paul Frank) clothes. And I hate how salespeople keep badgering you. If you leave me alone maybe I would consider buying something.
04. You can smoke almost anywhere even while you're peeing in the bathroom. I guess that's good for the smokers. Second-hand smoke kills though.
03. Some drivers put these blue sponges at end of each door so they don't ding their new car. It looks freakin ugly. Why buy a nice looking car if you put ugly blue sponges on your car? It ruins it. Just repair the ding if you have the money to buy a beamer in Korea.
02. They don't have bills over 10,000 won. In Korea you have to use checks for large sum of money. When I exchanged 3 $100 bills for Korean currency at the airport, they gave me freakin twenty 10,000 won, one 5,000 won, one 1,000 won and some change. Wow. That's 3 bills turned into 22 paper bills.
01. They don't have curtains in the bathroom! Water is all over the place. I hate wearing those damn slippers in the bathroom! I miss American bathrooms.

Results From Procrastination

Two days ago,  Rachel asked me to draw something on her Facebook graffiti wall, and she said it had to look good. So, because I felt like procrastinating a bit today, I decided to draw on her wall. I chose Konata from the new anime Lucky Star because she's so cute and adorable! I <3 her. I started at 7pm and thought of drawing it really quick and dirty, but nope. I got out of hand a bit and finally finished it at....MIDNIGHT! My hand started hurting towards the end because I was using a mouse only. I need a pen and tablet. If only I could study like this when I'm procrastinating.

Well, here's a step by step process of how I drew Konata. (Yes, I know. My drawing isn't exact as the picture, but the canvas was wide and not vertical so it looks squished. It's the best I could do.)

Has anyone seen a 1960s Italian movie called "Il Posto"? I watched it yesterday in class. One of my favorite movies now. Why do you ask? Because there's great dialogue, great acting, ending is great, and even without soundtrack, except when there is a scene with a band, it was a great movie. All there is are background noises.  Soundtracks can make movies better. Soundtracks can move you, emphasize more on a specific scene, and create a certain environment or mood, but if a movie can be great without soundtracks then how much more appreciation can be added to the movie? There are sidetracks/side comments/side scenes that have nothing to do with the story, but that just makes this movie much better. It gives the movie more depth. And the time for certain scenes or cuts are lengthy. It makes it seem like real-time instead of making a long walk into a 5 sec clip which gives the illusion of a long walk. This may seem unnecessary or boring, but the director adds "distractions" to fill in the gap. You'll just have to see for yourself to get at what I'm saying. I know it doesn't make sense, but that's why I'm not a writer and hate writing essays. Anyways, I have to write a one page write-up on this movie for class so I'll post that on here later to give you guys more specific reasons why I liked this movie. But it may have spoilers, so if you don't like spoilers then don't read it. I hate spoilers too. That's why there isn't anything specific about this movie in here.
