Austin, TX

Mmmm Austin, Texas.

I'm chillin at my roommate's house getting ready to go out and have a lovely day.  We're going out to the lake where we have rented a boat and will spend the afternoon chillin and drinkin with friends.  Then we are going to a jazz festival taking place on the adjacent park.  Sweeeeeeet...

Its hot out and my tan is getting damn near the point of kickass.  Well, gotta get ready to head out. Byeeee!

SoOoo I'm just chillin at the library so I might as well update the world on my comings and goings....

Life has been pretty good.  I stayed in Berkeley for the summer and was CalSO counselor.  CalSO is the orientation program here at Cal, so I spent my days showing new students and parents around the campus and answering their questions.  It was a cool experience and I learned a lot about my school, other people, and myself (as cheesy as that may sound =P) I got a hefty paycheck and free room and board for the duration of the programs which was fuckin sweet.  I met a lot of cool people in the CalSO dorms including some tight new friends to call my own.  We're having dinner tonight at a fancy sushi place and its should be fun to catch up on old shit and see what people have been up to for the last month or so.

After CalSO I moved into my new apartment.  I'm living with a few of my friends from last year so we're gonna have some kick ass times gettin wild =P They're from Texas and I'm heading out to visit them tomorrow in Austin.  I hear its fuckin hot as hell out there so I'm really excited to just chill out in the sun, ride horses, and catch up with my hommies.

I'm currently working at the campus bookstore with some cool people.  I help pack book orders to be shipped out to or picked up by the students.  Its kinda boring and meticulous, but its really improved my organizational skills.

I'm also working at the math library on campus.  Its this tiny library where only super nerds and grad students come in so its really quiet and I don't do much.  Just shelving books and helping patrons.  Its a nice place to chill and catch up on my reading.  I'm often seen checking my email or working on my Mammoth book of Sudoku (my new favorite passtime which helps me work on my logic skills and keep my mind sharp despite my constant attempts to fuck it up with substances  hahaha... nah, but seriously...)

My parents just left too.  They finally came up to visit since they've never been to Berkeley before.  It was fun to show them around, give them a campus tour, and prove that Berkeley is worth it.  It really made them realize what I'm here for and what I'm working towards.  In the end, my dad and I had the money talk and I got to relish in the satisfaction of turning down his offer for money since I'm financially stable now and don't need their money.  A small victory, but a great feeling.

I switched my major.  I'm now a Philosophy major and I'm going after either the Religious Studies or Education minor.  I'm still considering the Classics minor as well, but we'll see how things turn out.  My GPA isn't incredible, but the classes I've been taking (and will be taking) are really interesting and have really helped me discover what I really want to study and do with my life.

So things all in all have been good here.  I'm really enjoying my Berkeley/college experience.  I've met a lot of really awesome people and have really adapted to Berkeley life.  Sorry, for those of you who wanted me to come back to SD this summer, it just wasn't in the cards.  But I'll be back for Thanksgiving and the Christmas break so hopefully we can hang out then.  I hope everyone is having a great summer and will have a great school year.  I miss SD, especially the sun =), but I'm happy with where my life is now and I hope everyone can find the kind of peace and contentment I've found here.

Best wishes, Teenie
