new layout!!! yebah.. ang hirap i-edit ng skin na ito.. sheesh... and yeah.. i deleted the recent post I had.. by accident actually and I couldn't be stuffed doing it all again.. no waay! so here it is.. my new layout.. hope you guys liked it.. i love it! hehe..

---------------------------

We had an assembly a while ago periods 5 & 6 at the hall.. all about achieving your B.E.S.T. by no other that Darren Pereira, a motivational speaker.

He did stressed out a lot of stuff that motivated me or rather than, made me think about myself and what I have been doing in my life. Especially my life as a Year 12 VCE student. Being a Year 12 student is hard for me not because of the work load (i'm used to that) but because of competition and the expectations that every one is giving me. Since I'm about to enter Uni next year, people have been expecting me to get a really really high Enter Score but as for me, my goal is to atleast a 95 (which is not bad since Radiology in Monash Uni is 94 and if I don't get into Monash, RMIT is around 85-89). Sheesh! If I stayed in Phils, I should have been in Second Year College, enjoying life.. but oh well.. hehe.. reality bites! I'm in Aus!

Going back to the guy's speech...He gave us what B.E.S.T. actually mean and gave us Universal Principles & Quotes thru his speech (which is not boring by the way and is actually interesting & entertaining).

B is for Belief

"If you can see it... you can believe it.
If you can believe it... you can achieve it."

An example he gave us is very simple... If you see yourself or visualize yourself getting a good mark then you can believe in yourself that you can make it. All you have to do is to set reachable goals (sometimes, even no matter how impossible your goal is), believe in it and take action to achieve it. Belief is nothing but a positive thought (aka Positive Self Talk) which helps you to become positive about yourself in short to become optimistic no matter how problematic the world is. (e.g. After the London Bombing, the people in London get back to work even the Mayor took the train to send a message to the public 'Business As Usual') If you visualize about positive things the only phrase that swirles into your head is none other than.. "I CAN".

On the other hand, the oppposite of Belief (not disbelief, you idiot!) but Doubt and it is nothing mere than a negative thought, if you think about negative things and keep on being a pessimist your whole life (just exaggerating) you'll just keep on telling yourself "I CAN'T" which will just give you rubbish & crappy results.

Henry Ford, the inventor of the motorvehicle and the owner of FORD once said; "If you think you can or you think you can't you are absolutely right." Come to think of it.. it is the same thing as "You are the captain of your ship." If you think you are worthless, you'll be nothing but worthless but if you think you can make a difference, you can do it! An example would be Ms. Fox who believed that she will be the best business entrepreneur and now she earns as much as $1.4 Million per DAY (what about Bill Gates huh?) imagine how far your belief will take you!

But a further warning... Belief is waay different from being conceited.. -_- A person who practices Belief has goals that are true, realistic and reachable.. but a person who is conceited is a person who is a show-off, bragger and an arrogant idiot. (not an excerpt from Darren but from me hahaha)

E is for Effort

"The more you put IN, the more you get OUT" (no double meaning for the sleaze people)

"You will REAP what you have SOWN"

If you can visualize your goal in life, you have to put effort to achieve it! It doesn't just poofed out of nowhere. With everything you do you have to hammer yourself continously until you reach your goal. It is somewhat like a farmer who keeps on working hard everyday on his farm and when he finally sees his fruit of labour, he'll feel happy and will feel that all that he had worked for is worth it.

Darren gave us the case of Thomas Edison who invented the light-bulb. Before inventing the actual light bulb it took him 2,000 times to perfect the light bulb we use today. Yep, 2,000 (what determination eh?) When an arrogant English-man questioned him, "Sir, what do you feel that you have now invented the light-bulb and failed miserably for 2,000 times?" and he answered with confidence, "I invented the light-bulb, I didn't fail 2,000 times. It took me 2,000 steps to perfect it!"

S is for Singleminded

"Focus your energy and achieve results"

Have you ever experienced this.. coming home from school with your books open infront of you and you are determined to finish that homework that was given to you. But suddenly...*beep* a text message comes you get distracted and you find yourself doing other things instead of doing your studies (actually the same thing as what I am doing... typing a post for my blog instead of studying... and my books are open with me facing the other way around hahaha!!!! look who is talking!)

Darren said that if you try and focus yourself and sacrifice the bits of pleasures in life for a while, you will see that it will be all worth it. To make the fire, the early people focused on what they are doing instead of hunting for food (ehmm.. just an example) and look at us now.. fire helped us evolve and change the way we live.

T is for Toughness

"When the going gets tough, the tough it get goin."

We all know and we are all aware that life is a competition. If you don't go out there and fight.. you will not survive and you will lose. In a practical world we all have to do is set SMART Goals (Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, Time).

Specific - Write your goal in detail so that it creates a clear picture in your mind.
Measurable - If I can measure it, then I can manage it (all about time management and setting deadlines)
Actionable - What do I have to do? (Knowing your purpose & possible actions)
Realistic - It can be done give the constraints (There will always be skeptics everywhere, but don't let them pull you down. On the other hand, you have to set goals that you know you can achieve. It is your life anyway.)
Time - Set a possible beginning date (NOW) and an ending date.

Life is all about making choices and what we hear or see influences us in many ways. But its all about you.. How you can make a difference in your life, how you achieve your goals, how to be B.E.S.T. =)
