Brazil

Just got back from Brazil on Sunday. Absolutely loved the trip! It was awesome, encouraging and fulfilling. My only regret is that I couldn't stay the full four weeks. We were in the central part of Brazil, south of the Amazon. Actually most of land in that area is ranch land, the two main crops being  cattle and sugarcane. We were building a house for a staff family at Shekinah, New Tribes Missions language school there in Brazil. Here are some pictures that will help me explain what all we did:

This is the jobsite as we were just getting started. The entire house is built out of brick, no framing, no insulation, and most important, no a/c. They had the footers poured when we got there then we filled the foundation with dirt then water it and tamp it down by hand. Then we poured a fairly thin concrete slab.

Whenever we needed dirt or sand we would take the truck down the dirt road until we got to a place where the grader had dumped a pile then just load and go!

The land looked more like Texas than Brazil to me! Except of course for the macaws, toucans, anteaters and monkeys...

This was a cultural excerise that the staff put on the for the students. They portrayed a tribal people and the students had to learn the language and culture, who was related to who and what that meant in that culture.

I hope I can go back somewhere if not Brazil again on a mission trip. Sorry you had to come back early, the Falls were really cool when I went. I remember seeing the Amazon river as we flew over it. Hopefully you can go back again and this time do some sightseeing! Glad you're back safe though! ttyl Eric

Hey Eric, here's my new site. I still have a lot to do to it, but it's a start. I'm not too familiar with the xanga themes, so we'll see how it goes. I liked the way my other one was set up, it was easier for me to understand. TTYL

Hey Eric. Thanks for stopping by my site. It'd be great if you could drive all the way over here, meet me...(and maybe your cuz) then drive all the way back. I would consider you a friend for life :D

Yeah...I've heard the saying. I have to agree with it sometimes. :P

Looks like a lot of fun in Brazil

Later,
Myron

Hey dude, just stopping by to say howdy.Haven't talked in quite some time. You must be either super busy or you're using other avenues to chat. I think a lot of folks use Facebook now, I just don't care to start anything else, I'm perfectly content with my little world here on Xanga. I've met some really awesome folks on here lately. Man do I get into some debates on The Thelogians Cafe. Some of those folks try to pound away at me. I've gotten to where I like it when I get heckled for my stance for Christ, just affirms my relationship to Him. It is nice when other believer's back me up and join me though, what encouragement other believers can be and not even realize it. Hope everything is going great with you bud. Take care and God bless!

Hey Bud, I carried on a one way convo with you on AIM last night ROFL! Guess you were away from the computer, I see you are still online now but have been idle since last night. Going on any mission trips in the future. We have one planed for a group at our church going to Turkey. I REALLY want to go, only it's for 2 weeks. God will have to work it out for me to go for sure. Two weeks away from the business would be damaging I'm afraid, since I'm the only one who does inspections. If I can't go on this one, I'm really going to be praying hard for another opportunity to go in the future. Gotta run. Hope you piloting is going well brother. In Christ!
