NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Assunta's 50th Jubilee is over!!

Alright, personally, I'm not really bothered about the Jubilee, but the fact that MAAN is part of it, makes me care.

It's still very surreal that MAAN is actually over. Through MAAN, the whole cast has formed our very own dysfunctional family, and we weren't just playing our characters, we Were our characters. To all the cast members of MAAN, I love you all. No one could ever replace each and every one of you. You guys are a bunch of damn talented and fantastic people, and I'm more than lucky to have been able to work with you guys.

Cast
Sulekha - Don Pedro the Gay Prince
Mallini - Uncle Leonato
Jo - Antonio
Christina - Cousin Hero
Alethea - Claudio The Fool
Mayuri Mei Lin - Sexy Don John
Roshini - Borachio The Henchman
Deborah Tan - Fryar Francis (oh so very indian yarr)
Abinaya - Ursula My Handmaiden
Kate - Margaret Hero's Handmaiden
Krystle Pong - Hot Messenger
Kaneges - Signour Benedick of Padua
... and Me, Lady Beatrice, a cursed cow like no other.

Director - Inessa Wong
Costume/Banner Manager - Kiran Pillay
Other People to Mention - Nicole & Arisha, for helping with costumes and painting the backdrop.

The whole cast has agreed that even though Jubilee is over, MAAN still lives on. We will still be our characters and we definitely won't be ignoring each other. So. There you have it. My last moments of serving Assunta, very well spent. <insert huge emotional sigh here>

Will post up pictures soon, have to steal them from the Gay Prince.

Alive Though Not Really Living

Long Live MAAN!
Currently all that my life consists of is MAAN.

Although, it's not really MAAN anymore because the original version of MAAN was apparently too long, so MAAN has been shortened many times over, and now apparently we're causing our audiences PAIN. The details are too PAINful to go into, but let's just say the whole of MAAN is not happy.

Even so, we love the play and each other too much to just surrender, so we're going to do it. Not for the 90% who "won't understand or appreciate it" or the 10% that "will", but for us. So take THAT miss "you've got nice costumes but you can't act!"

Benedick & Beatrice
(pictures were deceivers ever.)

When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Robbed.
If you are a regular character in my life, you would be very well acquainted with my friend/sister/brother Francesca. She's a real tough looking girl. If you were to judge Francesca by how she looks, you'd conclude that she is not someone who's bad side you'd want to be on. Which would obviously mean you would turn around and walk the other way. Although in actual fact, Francesca is harmless and even more gentle than I could ever be (my parents are praying hard that some of her mannerism will rub onto me). I should probably throw in that Francesca is a BIKER. She rides a BIKE. So, innocent Francesca goes to Mid Valley, and parks her vehicle. She takes her wallet out of her lockbox, and some stupid GUY just comes and GRABS it out of her hand. Fran was lucky to escape with just a scraped knee, but she was still very upset because all her important cards were in there, and obviously because she was robbed.

So, I'm here wondering - If people that look like FRAN are getting robbed so shamelessly in PUBLIC PLACES like MID VALLEY, the world is so not safe for people who look like me.

Francesca & I
(what!)

...I wish I had more to say, but I really don't. Practices are just so hectic, and the people involved (minus my cast members) are just exhausting to be around. So I am just going to live out this next week, and I'll let you know how everything is after that (if there's anything left of me.)

Ciao.

A Very Exhausted Beatrice/Sheril

The Aftermath(s) and What's Soon To Come

Too brain dead to actually blog, so I'll just give you a brief something of everything and throw in a picture for good measure. XD

Choral Fest
This year wasn't as tiring as the last. I think I actually slept quite well, and my contact lenses did not dry up into shards of plastic that turned my eyes red by the end of the five days. I ended up being Gamemaster because the original Gamemaster had exams. I think the highlight of that particular job was definitely blowing the whistle (I think I'm on a lot of people's hit list). I didn't make many new friends, but I definitely got to know the old 'odd faces' a little better, not to mention bond with a couple of the people I barely get to see on a regular basis. Despite having to put on a dress and high heels on the last day just to pass certificates back and forth, the whole thing was an unforgettable experience in more ways than one. In fact, I shall document one of the best moments I had throughout the whole thing right here, for everyone to read:

It was after all the certificates were given out. The festival was announced officially closed, and Tracy started playing the Festival Theme Song (Not Alone Anymore, by Az Samad and Shelley Leong - a work of pure genius) again. The moment - Kicking off my heels and hitching up my skirt, sprinting up the side of Pentas 1 with Chi Ming and Kevinder to dance at the top. Reaching the top, out of breath, and dancing without a care in the world with Chi Ming and Kevinder and the rest of the people that joined us. The song ends. We all scream and shout and cheer and run all the way down together.

Pariah Squirrel Day
Jo's birthday was right after Choral Fest ended. The surprise Fran, Rish and I had very carefully (and hilariously) put together was carried out just as planned (surprisingly NOTHING went wrong at all). The look on Jo's face when Rish and I jumped out behind her booth at Chilli's Mid Valley and screeched Happy Birthday at the top of our lungs was priceless. After the whole day (will not detail out EVERYTHING because Jo wants the privilege of doing that herself on her blog), rough calculations showed that together, the three of us had spend over RM500 on Lil Miss Pariah Squirrel. It was all worth it though, considering we rarely get to show her how much we love her.

M.A.A.N
The Much Ado cast had our costume fittings the other day. Our costumes will be made out of saree material donated from the various teachers in the school. My teacher called me short. According to the tailor's measurements, my bust size is 33 1/4. My dad says that it sounded more like the score of a short put competition than a bust size. The Jo and Rish who were sitting in the backseat at the time roared in laughter. The Sheril scowled. Informed my mother that tickets are on sale already. She bought six RM50 tickets. My parents, my aunties, my cousin and Francesca Anna Peris will now be there to watch me. For the first time though, I Can't Wait! I feel that I, along with the rest of the MAAN cast have worked hard enough to have something to be proud of, and I really want to share this with my loved ones. When I say working hard, I seriously mean working hard, because guess what! Beatrice (and Sheril, same difference) with her two left feet, will have to dance on stage with Signour Benedick, in her saree made costume. Signour Benedick doesn't even know the moves yet. Beatrice will have to practice this with him, and soon, or they will both trip over each other and die of utter embarrasment (bonus embarrassment points, if the costume rips.) What I love about the whole thing though, is that the whole cast is very much into character. I sincerely think we have all embraced our characters and are slowly absorbing them into our very souls. Tee hee hee.

So here's introducing:

Beatrice (Lady Disdain) & Signour Benedick (The Prince's Jester)
Formerly known as Sheril & Kaneges

Tickets for Assunta's 50th Golden Jubilee Concert are now ON SALE at the price of RM30 (back seats), RM50 (front side), and RM100 (front center, VVIP). Concert will be held at the Civic Center, PJ on the 11th of July (7.30pm) and 12th of July (8pm). Email me (tgsheril@gmail.com)

That's all from me this week, till the next time!

Alive & Busy.

First off, let's call this so called 2 week break that I have the "Not Studying In School" days.

Between my chamber choir activities, my 50th Jubilee practices, and tuition, there isn't much room left for any holiday.

Much Ado About Jubilee.
I am Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing. Practices are great, our cast comes up with enough spoofs to keep the atmosphere light, but our director also induces enough discipline for things to actually get done. So, everything is moving along.

Youth Chamber Choir
Our big event is the 6th Young Singers Choral Festival which is being held next week from the 3rd to 7th of June. Apart from our Lunchtime Concert on the 5th of June at 1.30pm-2.30pm at KLPac Pentas 1 (tickets are RM8), we are also Festival Staff. Am looking forward to the event in general, not so much the loss of sleep.

Tuition
Between my Jubilee practices and choir rehearsals, I also have tuition. I have arranged everything so not to coincide with each other, and so far it's all been going well. Now I just have to inject myself with enough steroids to keep myself going. (Joking, coffee/chocolate/coke works just fine.)

With all that going on, I can't detailedly recount the big happenings in my life till much much later. Therefore, I shall just leave you with this and start drafting things in my already-cramped brain for future blogging purposes.

Au Revoir readers.

The Chorister-ing Working Tuition-ing Much Ado-ing Sheril (beatrice.)
