| 11 days and countingSo we're at T-minus 11 days until there are no more classes! 29 until graduation day....but who's counting!
Just writing to update a few things....
a) This past weekend I was officially accepted to STINT (short term international internship) with Campus Crusade for Christ to FREIBURG, GERMANY! This was a huge answer to prayer and confirmation of where I feel called to be next year.
2) I'm tired of school! I've got 2 LARGE projects, 2 papers, & 2 exams in the next 2 weeks (hey...all 2's). With Easter this weekend & only 1 other weekend, it's going to be kinda rough, I'd expect. OH, I've got an 8-hour exam all next Saturday too, to begin to become a professional engineer...(insert punch line here!) I know God'll bring me through this phase, and I trust he will, but I just don't want to be frazzled going into graduation and the end of this period of my life.
d) I will be abandoning this blog during my year in Freiburg, in favor of this one...
http://germancolin.blogspot.com
That's right...I sold out to blogspot. I'll be updating on that very ofter, but I may copy and paste some over to this one every once and again too. I'm out for now.
| Post Big Break DepressionWow, it's been a while since I've written. Let's do a quick recap.
1) I don't like school & really have no drive coming off of an AMAZING Spring Break week in Panama City Beach with Cru. "Big Break" was the best one out of the 3 I've been to! Sharing on the beach was amazing, going to help at Katrina relief in New Orleans was incredible, and the stories and memories are pricesless. Here's a view off our balcony (room 1008).
Man I'm going to miss that!
In other news, I'm officially accepted to go on STINT (short term international mission trip). I get placed on April 8th at a conference, but I'm praying for Freiburg, Germany, where I spent my summer in 2004.
There's much more to be said, but school calls early tomorrow morning. Man I miss the beach!
| What's up....
So the past 24 hours have been very incredible.
~Prayer @ Chip's house was incredible. Being in a gathering of men of prayer really makes me appreciate where God has brought me and helps remind me in the delight that is prayer!
~POSH @ Owen was very good, and I felt it could've gone on another hour or two with all of the very potentially deep topics that were brought up. Alas, the Purdue game was @ noon & lunch had to come in between that and us.
~Purdue rocked out on Michigan! Marcus Green forgetting that he is, in fact......Marcus Green, drops 18 in the first half! It was the kind of game I remembered from my younger years....back when Purdue could beat ANYONE @ home!
~The concert in Urbana (@ U of I) was AMAZING! We (Garet, Sawrie, Steiner, Kunk, Paul, Curtis & I) got there in time to see June...one of the openers...nothing special. Anberlin came up next and we went nuts. They put on a great set. Ryan and I started the push up to the stage, which is always fun...especially when you're pushing past frat guys & sorority girls who have NO IDEA that they're at a ROCK SHOW & not a house party. Emery was equally impressive. We were up in the second-ish row dead center for both them and Anberlin...so good! Hawthorne Heights closed out the night, plugged their new CD endlessly, & closed w/ "Ohio is for lovers." They were pretty much what I expected, which was good, but nothing incredible.
Now, after CAD-ing the dishwasher rack for our senior design project...
I'm going to go home. | | |
| So yeah, it's been a while since the last update. It's late &
church is @ 10 tomorrow, so I'm out soon, but I feel the need to
document my current place on this campus & in life.
Class:
Here's a course-by-course breakdown
Sociology 100 (Intro to Sociology)-Fun w/ Ian, but otherwise a joke...I think I've done more reading now than in my SOC 341 class last semester, though.
Music 250 (Music Appreciation)-We had our first exam last Thursday. Having taken MUS 361 (theory 1), this class isn't going to be hard at all.
Industrial Engineering 370 (Manufacturing Processes)-I honestly don't know a
thing that we've learned in this class yet. Our old, quiet, Asian
professor forgets to turn on the projector, doesn't go full screen with
the powerpoint slides and mutters the entire class. Honestly the
MOST boring class I've had at Purdue. All I've heard him
intelligbly say is the phrase "Job shop", which I don't even know what
it means!
Mechanical Engineering 452 (Machine Design II)-Finally, a REAL
class! Machine design 2 is proving to be a solid course. We
had the teacher from the other section teach this past week, and he's
got to be one of the top professors I've had at Purdue. Sadly,
our normal one is back, and this is his frist time teaching in English
in the past 5 years. He's on loan from Greece for a
semester. It wouldn't be as bad if we didn't have exposure to
what we're missing in the other section.
Mechanical Engineering 463 (Senior D)-Senior Design...I like
my group & I like the fact we're taking a project from
brainstorming to completion. I got nominated to be the team
leader, which shouldn't really carry a whole lot of weight because
we're all motivated! The dishwasher aid for the elderly we're
making should be a fun & challenging design project. I hope
this doesn't take up more time than it has thus far (1 hour a day).
In other news, I've completed my STINT application this past
week. I'm just waiting on others to finish their references
before it's officially under review. That really is what I'm
feeling called to next year. Also I've basically given up on the
idea of pursuing any sort of romantic relationship while here at
Purdue. It's not that I'm discouraged, I just think with only 13
weeks or so left here I'd be doing myself and whoever else would cross
my path a disservice by entertaining thoughts of a long
relationship. I'll most likely be at home this summer &
hopefully (Lord willing) in Freiburg, Germany this September. I
know God does funny stuff on his own time, but I'm through with
concerning myself with the idea. If it's supposed to happen, it
will. If not, so be it. May the name of the LORD be
praised. Ok, it's late...I'll check back in w/ more rants as they
come. Peace!

| 1st "Move of the day" of '06Where to begin...
Well, I guess firstly I've been having a lot of fun doing very little @
our house the past 3 days. Rudy, Brent & I, along w/
occasional visits from a bunch of friends are partying it up
here. I'm almost fully moved in, but I need to make one more
random trip down to the 'field before being up here for good.
More on that in a bit.
I've got my books and most of the stuff I'm going to need for this
semester. I have a pretty balanced schedule (2 ME, 2 gen. eds., 1
Tech elective), and yes, I am taking both senior design in ME & SOC
100 in the same semester. here's a link. http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~cmullins/lastone.jpg
Being done by 2:30ish every day should be pretty nice & conducive to good hang out time in Owen.
Oh, by the way, I'm speaking @ Cru this coming Friday night!!!
I'm really excited about sharing how God has used me during my 4 years
here @ Purdue!
So back to why I have to go back home...well let's just say I had an
interesting time on the way back up to Purdue. I hit something as
I was coming down the on-ramp onto 65 on Wednesday night. I
thought I blew out a tire, because I bounced really high up on my right
side. When I saw I didn't blow one, I was relieved and continued
to drive on. While shifting on the interstate I heard some metal
piece sound like it fell out of the back of my car. Again, I was
kinda freaked, but ultimately thought nothing of it.
Turns out that I hit something hard enough to make a dent in a support
of my car and come up through the floorboard of my back seat. http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~cmullins/hole.jpg

There you have it! So now this issue must be resolved by a repair shop back home probably.
