  • Sitting at the Library Saying Thanks!

We have no internet....bummer !  But the library is the next best thing for me.  I get to update, read everyone else's business, and see my Aunt Sugarbear all in one visit!  But, she has been ignoring me....and I hope she reads this later today!    She has been in the back room of the library while a very nice young man is manning her domain at the reference desk.  He even helped this computer sign-in challenged girl get on the internet!  I say he gets a raise, although I will put in a good word for you to keep your desk Sugarbear!  You did peak your head out just a moment ago, but didn't see me...sadness....but all that work and shuttling me around while moving makes up for it 10 times over!!!!

Moving day was surprisingly quick.  I had my camera out, but didn't get many pictures because every time I turned around, the guys were coming back in for more furniture.  And my aunts and parents - what a BLESSING!!  We couldn't have done this move without all of them.  After all their hard work, I didn't have a whole lot of unpacking left to do!  And one aunt made us a cakeyesterday!  They are just all so thoughtful!  As soon as we have the internet again, I will post pics of our rooms with furniture and everything.

Well my last day off today.  And I have to head home to meet the plumber.  We have a backed up garbage disposal which caused a bit of a mess late last night when we ran our dishwasher!  Thank the Lord for home warranties!  All this on the same day we made our first mortgage payment - YIKES!!!  We are not going out or spending money ever again!

  • Moving day is Saturday...and we're still working!

A post FULL of pictures!  I finally remembered to have the camera brought back so that I can share some of our remodeling with you all.  Kristen and Joel Martin did come over for a weekend to help paint our front room and fireplace room.  What a wonderful help!  But I forgot to take their pictures....and for that they are probably happy!    I know they're all small pictures, but like the last time I did pictures, it won't let me adjust the size.  Guess I need my Xanga guru Smooth_Moby to help me out!

<<edit>> All fixed sis! You're welcome.

    Love,

    Adam (smooth_moby)

2007_0221housework0120  The drywall had to be taken down because the wall was textured.  We wanted plain walls to match the kitchen.

2007_0221housework0129  And the much-debated wall between the kitchen and fireplace room came down!!!  I was so happy when it was done.  But I practically gave myself an ulcer deciding to do it!

    2007_0221housework0127   Just cute!

2007_0221housework0138  Now here's the view from the kitchen sink.  This big room will be our kitchen/dining/living room area.  Our big TV will go in the front room with the couches.  (Paying attention movers for this Saturday???)

2007_0221housework0137  Mom and Dad were a BIG help in this project.  Dad of course with his muscles and remodeling knowledge.  And Mom with a shop vac and great ideas!

2007_0221housework0143  Painting all the cabinet doors and shelves in the sun room.  Great work space in there!

2007_0221housework0147 The cabinets are now painted a light gray/white color - Appaloosa.

2007_0221housework0154  Mocha Mousse in the fireplace room.  (Thanks Kristen and Joel!!)

2007_0221housework0152  Spruce Gray in the front room (Double thanks!!)

2007_0221housework0159 Dad putting in the switch for the new recessed lighting you can see above him.  They had a horrible time cutting out the tile.  And great luck, because another 1/8" and I would have had a hole in the tile with now light switch!!

2007_0221housework0151  This is Isaly's contribution!  I miss him sooooo much.  Mom and Dad bring him over, and we even dog sat one weekend while they visited Megan at Grace.  Love it!  And we don't have to pay our landlord $100 to do it!!!

Now, onto packing the condo.  Bigger job than I thought.  I always waited until the last minute to pack.  Even in college.  And you'd think I have this task down pat for moving back and forth at least 8 times in the last few years, but NO!  But most of the boxes are still the same!

  • 15 Ways to Maintain a Healthy Level of Insanity!

    HAVE FUN WITH THESE!

    1. At lunch time, sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hair dryer at passing cars.  See if they slow down.

    2. Page yourself over the intercom.  Don't disguise your voice.

    3. Every time someone asks you to do something, ask if they want fries with that.

    4. Put your garbage can on your desk and label it "IN."

    5. Put decaf in the coffee maker for 3 weeks.  Once everyone has gotten over their caffeine addictions, switch to espresso.

    6. Finish all your sentences with "In accordance with the prophecy."

    7. Don't use any punctuation

    8. As often as possible, skip rather than walk.

    9. Specify that your drive-through order Is "To Go."

    10. Sing along at the opera.

    11. Put mosquito netting around your work area and play tropical sounds all day.

    12. Five days in advance, tell your friends you can't attend their party because you're not in the mood.

    13. When the money comes out of the ATM, scream "I Won, I Won!"

    14. When leaving the zoo, start running towards the lot yelling, "Run for your lives, they're loose!!"

    15. Tell your children over dinner, "Due to the economy, we are going to have to let one of you go."

HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE and have a great week!

  • I've been tagged!

I know everyone wants pictures of the house, but my camera is currently over at the new house.  It's hard to juggle both places! Here's some from before we bought it.  Since then we have taken out a wall and primed the kitchen cabinets to be painted.  It's pretty messy!

    BEAUTIFUL sun room:

    Living room/fireplace room:

    Front Room:

    Kitchen:

And that retro bathroom that's got to go!

Ok...never done this tagging thing before, so bear with me!

    1. I hate listening to people drink milk and when people write with a pen that is missing the cap on the back.  (ok, so that was two....)

    2. I was in the same room with Newt Gingrich when we were touring George Washington's house, Mount Vernon, last September.

    3. I've been out of the country twice - Mexico (too small to remember), and the Bahamas!

    4. I have an opinion on just about everything, but when it comes to making decisions for a change, I can't do anything definite! (colors for a house, where to go for vacation...etc...)

    5. I grew up in the same house my entire life and never moved.

    6. I took piano lessons for 14 years and am dying to play again.  (No offertory yet Sugarbear!)

    I tag - Jennalauree, bandchica09, momofbal, penguinr4me, alieugene, and sugarbear4

Sorry if you 've been tagged before, but I don't keep up with this stuff very well!

Hope this is fun for you.  If I tagged you here are the rules.

The Rules: Each player of this game starts with the six (6) weird things about you. People who get tagged need to write a blog post of their own six (6) weird things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end,you need to choose six (6) people to be tagged and list their names.

  • Just a quick one...

Just a quick update on my lunch hour.  Noel got safely back to Joel's parent's house on Wednesday with 65 miles under his belt!  Other than walking like an old man, he's just fine!  They are going to do some day hiking today and then head out on Friday for HOME!  Yippee!!

Keep praying I can kick this bronchitis soon.  I went to bed at 8:00 last night without even looking at my to-do list or my messy house!

It sure doesn't feel like Christmas yet...I think I procrastinate more when there's no snow on the ground!  That would explain the last minute gifts I need to buy!
