I don't even know what a bandwagon is...

Over the course of the last two weeks or however long its been since the best team in college basketball (ever) was eliminated from the tournament, I have been accused and ridiculed.

Not for Duke exiting in the second round after a first-round loss last year and zero (gasp) championships in the last seven years.  Not for Duke failing to advance to the Sweet 16 for the second straight year after making it that far the previous nine years consecutively.  Not even for picking Notre Dame to make it to the Final Four.  P.S.  Luke Harangody played like a beast, just like I predicted.

No, I have been accused and ridiculed for jumping on the KU bandwagon (see title).

To quote John McEnroe (really, how are you not impressed that someone can actually quote Johnny Mac and do so in context), "You CANNOT be serious?!?"

I'm on the KU bandwagon?  How do you figure?

How many Duke fans do you know that have a genuine animosity for the Jayhawks?

Where's the hatred come from?  The way I look at it, Duke only has one beef with KU, and that's the 1988 Championship Game.  And really, how were the Dukies supposed to win with Danny Manning going for 33 and 18 to seal the deal.  P.S.S.  That was 20 years ago.  I think Duke is over it.  I know I am.

Duke is 6-2 all-time against the Jayhawks, not exactly the quantity of games needed to create a rivalry.

But I digress slightly...

I have always enjoyed Kansas Basketball.  (Not kState)  (Not Wichita State)

I have a KU jersey hanging on my wall, courtesy a very distinguished alumnus and brother-in-law (Good work Grace, we would have had issues had you married a Tar Heel)

I have been filling out March Madness Tournament Brackets since 1999, and I have always picked KU as far as they would go until meeting up with Coach K and his latest wrecking crew.

Rock.  Chalk.

Seriously, a bandwagoner?  No.

KU is my favorite Division I public university basketball program.

P.S.S.S.  One tiny detail that I left out.  I'm not a big fan of the fact that Larry Brown coached the KU team that cut down the nets in '88.  Larry Brown graduated from a certain Chapel Hill school in North Carolina and was a big reason why the Duke-Carolina rivalry is as big as it is today.  See 1961, Art Heyman, Punching.

P.S.S.S.S.  Go Jayhawks.

P.S.S.S.S.S.  I haven't cleaned my room since the tournament began and I won't until the end of the tournament tomorrow evening.

P.S.S.S.S.S.S.  Sorry Mom.

Best Month Ever

What a great month.

Thirty one amazing days.

Soak it up, you only have 10 and a half left.

NewsFlash:  Sam's dream tourney...

Indiana over UNC in the second round.  (Hansbrough goes pro/Williams retires)

KU over KState in the Elite 8.  (Beasley goes pro/jail)

Duke over UCLA in the Elite 8.  (Love/Mbah a Moute/Collison/Shipp go pro)

Notre Dame over Indiana.  (Harangody goes for fifty, just like the Admiral, but wins.)

Notre Dame over Tennessee.  (Harangody goes for sixty)

Kansas over Notre Dame in the Final Four.  (Harangody gets seventy, Chalmers (eleventh best player in the nation behind Duke's first ten) goes for seventy-one and twenty-six steals.)

Duke over Texas in the Final Four.  (Singler pulls a Redick and goes off for 41)

Duke over Kansas in the National Championship.  (Bill Self cries/Chalmers gets a quadruple-double in the 5-ot loss)

What a great tournament that would be.

Thank you, yes, and please.

The three words in the English language I would like to learn to say more and without any reluctance.

Oh, that's four words you say?  Thank you.

Yes, I will count better next time.

Please, after you.

Anyway, apparently I only post when my sisters have babies.  I guess you're right.  It does seem that way as of late.

What's new for thefourthwoody you might be asking yourself?  Well, let me just fill in the blanks for you.

Wendy and Jason had a son.  Their first son was Calvin.  The second one's name is Isaac.  They live in Canaan's land.  Well, no, they actually live in Columbia, Il.  That is neither here nor where you are.  That's where Jason and Wendy live.

That's about it.  Here's my eight:

(I'm not actually 100% positive what these eight were supposed to be about, so I hope you're ready for this forty-five second roller coaster ride of bullet points.)

1/8:  I'm a big fan and supporter of East Coast athletic teams.  And not just any athletic teams.  I'm a fan of the winners.  Sorry, Dolphins fans and Red Sox fans.  I'm a Duke/Yankee/Patriots fan.  Its okay if you don't like these teams, America will still let you live in the free country that the Patriots and Yankees fought and won for you.  By the way, Duke is 9-0 at the time of this publication.  By the time you read it, they will still be 9-0.  Unless you're reading this when they're 10-0.  In that case, they will no longer be 9-0, but rather, they will be better than your favorite team.  Still.

2/7:  I love being an Uncle.  And not just being an Uncle for nephews like I thought I would be exclusively.  Being an Uncle for Emerald Hudson Joy has been an amazing thing.  She's still not playing on my nephews only basketball team, but she can be the trainer or mascot or scout.  Not a cheerleader, though.  Sorry.  Calvin, Moses, and Isaac are a scary triumvirate and ridiculously comparable to another trio of superstar athletes on the same team.  Hurley, Hill, and Laettner ring any bells?  Or how about Jordan, Pippen, and Luc Longley?  Maybe you're thinking about another trio, like Bird, McHale, and Parish?  However you stack the cookies, they are delicious and in serious danger of being eaten by Moses.  In summary:  Being an Uncle is an incredible priviledge.

3/6:  I enjoy clever advertising and marketing, whatever medium is presenting it.  I also enjoy proving it wrong.  Example:  Kay Jewelers jingle is, "Every kiss begins with Kay."  No.  Depending on how legalistic you want to get with it, "every kiss" begins with an E.  Silly, yes, but its the truth and you can't fight it.

4/5:

5/4:

6/3:

7/2:

8/1:  I like to think that I am creative.  With that, I will let anyone who wants to, fill in the four blanks.  Its a big responsibility, but I know you can handle it.  You're just that good of a person.

Thanks for reading, and yes, I will post more often.  But only if you say please.
