| Ever since I transferred to ATX from SA town, I've realized
that my time management was in need of an extreme makeover. I'm not saying that UTSA is a
blow off school, but I took blow off classes there (e.g. American Roots Music).
Advice to (future) CAP’d students: it's good to take some blow off classes to
get into UT easy, but you also want to take some challenging ones.. maybe one, ya
know? With the classes I took, it was like taking a break from college for a
whole year or staying in high school for one more year. I was definitely a
little rusty with the academic skills. I know a lot of people have it worse
than me with harder/more classes, but… yeah, that’s why I’m working on my time
management. There are certain things I do miss about SA though – being able to
spend time with my boo without taking a Greyhound bus, the University Oaks
Apt. #504 (home of the.. middle-of-the-night studio sessions, rowdiness,
Houston heads, Bomberman 4-player-multi-tap insanity, and loser-cleans-the-apartment style
hold ‘em), chillin’ like a villain, small campus = less people, the variety of
cakes at Roadrunner Café, campus food (even if you think you’ll use your meal
plan a lot, get the cheapest one because they are impossible to finish on your
own), and other things here and there I forgot to mention. Well, anyways, I was
trying to figure out what I was wasting all my time on. On average, I walk to
campus and back at least twice a day. It takes 15 minutes one way, sometimes even
longer if I stop to watch the squirrels/birds. Also, when I’m trying to study
at home, I always catch myself red-handed looking for something to grub on.. it
makes me feel so guilty. I study at the kitchen table (my only table), and it
doesn’t help that I’m only two steps away from a kitchen full of goodies (e.g.
I just cooked a batch of cookies… and I didn’t even want to eat). I guess for
now, I can just work on some of those things by packing my lunch, using campus
restrooms, or studying on campus… but my cookies are getting cold. Later. |
