The dawning of a new day...

Well, the youth of Faith Baptist Church in Durham are in some trouble (as are the adults and the children, seeing as how I am the new Student and Education Pastor).  Am I overwhelmed, you ask?  Not as of yet, but then again it's my 2nd day, how overwhelmed can I be?  Am I insufficient?  Yes!  And praise be to God, for in my weakness, His grace will carry me, and He will be glorified, which is the desire of my heart.  Last night, we began our first youth group with them..."Youth-o-rama."  I don't know if that will stick or not.  It's left over from the last guy.  But the study...we are going to simply work our way through John.  Got through the first three verses.  Wow!  We are cruising.  Anyway, of note:

Jesus, of coarse, the second person in the Trinity.  He is the agent of all creation.  Being in the beginning, before anything else existed, He is eternal and independent, always existing and never needing anything outside of Himself for existence.  However, in His complete independence, He saw fit to put his "stamp of approval" on mankind, to make us in His very image.  What a blessing it is to know that He who does not need me, wants me.

Yeah, I know.  Simple and we all know it.  However, it always speaks volumes every time I think about it.

Love God, love others...

Hopes are high...

I get to hang out with the kids and the students of Faith Baptist Church, Durham in a couple of weekends. Unfortunately, me being the absent-minded person I am, it's on the 21st, which is my wife's b-day. Doh (in an H. Simpson way). She is okay with it, and we can go out that Friday. Idiot. Okay, enough. So then I get the sermon hour on the 22nd. Then, they vote on the 28th. We are extremely excited. We truly feel a peace about everything, and the church is amazing...very friendly and loving. Anyways, pray for God's will. Love Him, love others.

Ummmm...

Just got home from UPS. It's a job. I think I'm going to be buff (well, not as chunky) from working there. That part will be sad if I get the chance to leave. School, well, I go. Not a whole lot to say about that. I don't spend much time there. Church history is cool, though. We're learning about the Fathers. Interesting. Other than that, life as usual. I have my first exam tomorrow...dunh, dunh, dunh!!! We'll see. It's in hermeneutics...a much different class if you've taken it with Long or Freeman. I'm still trying to mesh things together. Maybe I'll be a better hermeneuticist for it (did I just make that word up? Pretty flippin' sweet, huh?) Anyways, Love God, love others.

P.S. - Benchwarmers, funny, good'n'funny, but a great moral at the end. Didn't see that one coming.

discerning God's will...need prayer

well, as you know, i've been busting my tail for ups for about three weeks now. it's a good job with potentially great benefits. however, i have been in contact with a church in durham...faith baptist. they are looking for a youth/ce/children's minister. shanna and i have been praying about it. she is so beautiful and i love her so much. she is such an encouragement. this weekend, we get to go on our first "date" in like a month and a half because we are finally not dead broke anymore. praise the Lord. anyway, i desire to do what God wants. so, i'm asking Him to close doors if it is not His will. peace out!

well, if there is a time on this, you may be wondering what i'm doing up at 3:30. i got home from work not too long ago. here's the great thing: i start loading for the entire night tomorrow. a good way to look at it...getting paid to work out for at least 3.5 hours. our trainer said we moved well in the truck the past two nights. and, p/t supervisor positions come open a lot, and they like sups to have degrees. thank the Lord for my b.a. anyway, Christ is faithful. we know that, but sumetimes it's good to hear someone simply state it. peace out.
