You don't need to apologize for 'stalkerish' tendencies. One of the great ironies about blogging is that people publish things to the internet, and then get all huffy if strangers read their stuff, or if people read without commenting, or if they get 'discovered' by the people they're writing about. It's like an author publishing a book to the public, and then wanting to whisk it out of the bookstore as soon as a stranger picks it up, or if someone reads it without writing a fan letter. I just thought you might be interested in knowing that, after I responded to Hiro's "I can come meet you in the night" message with, "I'm sorry, tonight isn't good, but maybe we can meet up next week to cook nikujaga and practice our respective languages," I never heard from him. And I probably won't, ever again, unless I message him 'in the night' requesting some Japanese booty call.

What brought you to Tokyo? Shopping, sightseeing, or just a routine visit?

I guess I lucked out with Japan sizing, because I am woefully short. I still sometimes have problems with being too curvy for Japanese clothing, though.

Are you living with a host family, then? That sounds great. I'm living on my own, which is nice (especially after spending that last four years in my parents' house), but sometimes I think how great it would be to have a Japanese family to observe and model myself after... especially when it comes to cooking and eating. I'm really not good with the cooking and the eating when left to my own devices.

I hope that you have a good holiday. I'm going to be out of town for two weeks (in Kansai), but I'll be back soon enough.

Hm, that's depressing. My cousin talked about freight-hopping across the States vagabond style, camping out in the woods instead of wasting money in hotels. That actually sounds much more interesting, but then I'd need a huge guy to come with me. It's really dangerous, even more so for a girl.

Did you backpack 10 years ago when it was "an inspirational and artistic way to discover self-sufficiency in the face of cultural expansion"? Or did you get hounded by the millions of rich kids?

Ugh, if a rich tourist tried to harass me I'd pummel him. I'm not a people person at all. I give off antisocial vibes wherever I go.

They say after college we know what we're supposed to do. Once we hit, you know, 30. Then everything falls into place and we settle for the white picket fence and a husband and 2.5 kids. And we forget our childish dreams of being an astronaut.

I want to go back to the childish way of thinking. I think I will.
