...back from new orleans. it was incredible. i've never seen so much destruction in my life. you'd think that after 7 months things would be at least beginning to get back to normal, but it is no where near normal. with the exception of the downtown area, it is pretty much deserted. while we were there, we gutted 2 houses. i have never sweat that much or worked that hard in my entire life. i encourage everyone who can to go.... these are a few pictures of the houses before we gutted them:

...imagine having to come home to that.... well this is what we accomplished:

it was sad having to throw away all of those things...

the gulf coast really needs all the help it can get being rebuilt. so go if you can.

on a brighter note, luckily the downtown area was pretty much still operating as normal. i've heard a lot of bad things about new orleans, but i must say that i loved this city. if i were able right now, i would pick up and move there. i have a condo picked out for myself on royal street right above the harouni gallery.... speaking of, i realize that what i did was illegal, but i just had to do it. i couldn't use my flash, though, and i had my camera underneath my arm... so that is why this picture sucks, but i was able to see 2 of my favorite nicole sebille paintings in PERSON!:

and not only that, but i also got to see several of bill traylor's original works. it felt amazing to be in the company of such great art. it was better than meeting a famous person. ahhhh. here is one of the few jim sudduth originals that i managed to snap photos of as discretely as i could:

i still can't believe that i stood face to face with these paintings. why do i live in ohio again?

i also really enjoyed just the personality of the city. it was so diverse and so colorful...

not to mention that it had the most adorable shops:

and breathtaking architechture:

... so in a nutshell... pray for louisiana, go there and help, and go to new orleans because it is fantastic. goodnight.

p.s. i love brittany and i got to see her tonight and eat chipotle for the first time in a week!

and i love lindsey and i miss her like crazy and she needs to get back here a.s.a.p.

oh and april 28th is

you should have seen that  sunrise with your own eyes...

i quit xanga, but  i am bored. i'll probably delete this later, so consider yourself very, very special if you do read this... since i am so fascinating and everyone will be talking about this xanga entry... everyone who reads it, that is.

so what's new? nothing really... i don't work in the office anymore. it's not really my thing...but the experience was a good one. it solidified my dreams of becoming an artist and improved my filing skills, if nothing else.  my hands smell like bleach because my dad and i made myself a new "office"... my own. so obviously it's not an office, but since painting is now my job, and since it is where i'll be working, my office is what i have chosen to call it. pretty much the storage room in the basement has become my place to paint since i sort of out-grew my room. we bleached the floor and walls.... that's why my hands smell that way. i forgot to explain that. we're painting them white tomorrow. it's going to be great. i can make a mess, i have a ton of space, we turned the old wine rack into a nifty pencil/paint/brush/paper/ruler/xacto/whatever else i can put into square slot holder. i can even put my pastels in rainbow order! now that's what i call resourcefulness! i have a couch, shelves, 2 blank white walls, a utility sink, and a water heater that i'm going to paint a face on so that i don't get lonely, since i imagine i will be spending hours upon hours down there. i'm so excited.... maybe i'll put up a picture on here, but probably not.

oh and i am going to go to new orleans in april to help out.... so i'm pretty pumped about that.

...other than that not much is new... no one reads this and i don't have a good story. what am i doing? im going to wash my hands until the smell goes away.
