| Important lessons learned through our family's best friends...who's children also happen to be 50% Chinese...their Mom is 100%. Dad is 100% Guatemalan. When in China...don't ask for rice. It is a peasant's dish and eating it is offensive to your host...you're supposed to be so full of the wonderful food they fed you that you wouldn't even consider eating the rice. Don't burp in public in China...it is also highly offensive. Do not lay on the beach talking to two old friends, fall asleep while talking, and forget to turn over...I have a sunburn that makes me look like "Two Face".... Six years difference can't stop two crazy boys from talking about superheroes they love...all day... Do not tell a family with Chinese descent that one of your jobs in China is to find a China Man...they will offer you there son...no matter how old he is... ...long funny story Jello makes the best dessert... Mrs. Grussi makes the best food ever... Don't get so close to a family that they feel the need to describe you this way in a disaster...."They were like the band on the Titanic. They just kept playing with the water up to here (gestures to chest)...all the way to the bitter end..." That statement is very embarrassing when said by a pastor...during a service...it was hilarious too though. Old friends bring the best laughs... Hugs from a guy who is taller than you and loves to work out are absolutely incredible...even when he is a second father to you... Expect the unexpected....always

| Well, I'm offically 21. Do I feel older? No. Do I feel wiser? Not really. Did I have fun yesterday? Yes. The day started when I went to bed at midnight. Anna was sleeping over and Ever After was playing in the background. It was very relaxing and I feel right asleep...a big thing for someone suffering from insomnia. I was awakened about an hour later when the massive sound of lightning woke me out of a dead sleep. Anna said that I gasped really loud, but the gasp was quickly replaced with a huge smile. A thunder storm was probably the best present that could be given to me on my birthday. I love rain and lightning always makes it better. Anna told me happy birthday and the smile got bigger. It didn't last long though...after talking for only a few minutes, I was asleep again. I woke up just before 3am because the storm was getting really loud. Anna wasn't on the couch and the light in the living room was on. I went out to see if she was ok and I was informed that it was much easier to watch the storm out there. I sat and talked to Anna for a few minutes before I offhandedly mentioned how bad the storm was (the strikes of lightning came every few seconds) and the fact that I loved the storm as long as the lights didn't go out. It hit me at that point....after Anna asking if I had a flashlight....that I had no idea what to do if the lights went out...sure, the lighter was in the kitchen, but we only had a few candles....I quickly went back to bed to forget how storm un-ready I was. It got in bed and then my thoughts drifted another direction...what if we had a TORNADO???? What would I do? Where would I go? Would I die? I almost scared myself before deciding that I would go to the fire department. I quickly drifted back to sleep after that. So, I woke up later, went to a movie with Mom....I wasn't really feeling well enough to do anything else. We had lunch at Panera, took a nap....beautiful....., and then went and picked Anna up before going to the Greene for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. The food was beyond incredible and I had a glass of wine with dinner....GASP!!!!! After drinking it....and feeling like I was falling asleep....I decided....alcohol isn't worth it. I may indulge in a glass of wine every once in a while, but I don't really ever think that I will like it. Oh, well. The night was finished with two movies lounging on my couch and a phone call from my Dad, my brother, and my lovely Donetta. So, the day wasn't terribly exciting, but it was wonderful. I loved just relaxing with Mom and Anna....oh, and thank you all so much for the birthday wishes sent via facebook. They made me more happy than anything else. Anyway, tomorrow Mom and I are going to the Creation Museum to meet....OH NO!!!!....my brother's future in-laws. No, actually they sound like great people. I'm really excited to meet them. Oh, by the way, for those of you who don't know yet, my brother and his girlfriend, Kristina, are planning on getting married next summer. I am really happy....I couldn't have picked a better girl for Jon. I love you all! Have an incredible day! | | |
| So, in the last couple days I have really been in a bummer mood. I'll spare you the details, but I was pretty much grumpy and tired all the time. I was grumpy cause there was a lot going on in my head and I was tired cause I have been suffering from insomnia for a while now. Not a good combo. So, needless to say I've been trying to find ways to cheer up. Nothing worked. It was really sad. Last night something finally did though. I had to take my friend, Ed, to Verizon for a new phone...he put his through the washing machine... We ended up not being able to get him a phone cause of complications, but we are going back tonight more determined than ever. Anyway, on the way back, he changed the music and decided to put in Lincoln Park. Most of the time, I like that CD, but it's not my favorite one...too much screaming and too depressing, but last night it was exactly what I needed. We turned the music up a little loud (the only way scream-o should be listened to) and we yelled conversation over the music all the way home. It was incredible. It made me feel a lot better. Then last night after I realized I wasn't going to sleep again, my amazing, wonderful roommate called me. That finished making my day. So, this morning, I woke up and I am still exhausted (I think it was three before I feel asleep), but I am happy about being alive. I love moments that cheer you up for no explained reason. Now, I get to spend that day out with Nikki. This will be fun. I love you all. Have an incredible day! | | |
| So, it's been a while since I have written. It's good to be back on. Summer is always kinda hard when I don't have immediate access to a computer and the internet. I'm a Cedarville student, I love checking my email. So random things that have happened in my life recently: 1. Lizzy is going home on Friday. I'm going to miss her. 2. Kristina (my brother's girlfriend) came to visit this last weekend and we had a lot of fun with her. It was good to get to know her better. 3. I got a call from my brother this morning. Apparently he is doing really well and he is about to working at a camp in Croatia this next week. 4. I'm still working on learning to ride a bike...Anna is very dedicated to me not giving up. 5. I found out that my x-boyfriend is getting married on August 18th. Jon is going to the wedding and was scared that I would be upset about it. I'm not. I'm really excited for him. I really hope that he is happy. . And I really truly mean that. 6. I love not having curfew...like the nights that I fall asleep at Anna's house and just decide not to go home...or I go home really late. Those are beautiful days. 7. God is incredible. I have seen his hand in so many things this summer. It's incredible. 8. I'm scared about China, but I am learning a lot through reading and I am about to start writing lesson plans so, things will work out well. 9. I'm helping with this thing at my church called "Marketplace." It's this thing that they put on for 1st through 6th graders. It takes the kids through a marketplace in the time of Christ. I'm really excited about it. If you would pray for it, it's the 16-20th of this month. 10. Last, but not least, my 21st birthday is in 16 days. I'm really excited! Mom is getting here on the 16th and hanging around till the 23rd. I'm happy. Ok, that's it. I love you all! I can't wait to see you again!
