  • The Seven Project

MayorSumo This afternoon we did a Seven Project at the High School in Newell SD.

At the principals request we communicated about choices students make in regards to peer pressure, substance abuse, abstinence, and integrity. There were about 200 students at the assembly and for 60 minutes they gave us their attention and listened to our stories about making right choices.

This evening about 85 of those students came back for free pizza, pop, inflatable games, and the rest of the story. Near the end of the presentation we shared about taking the first step with Jesus and 100% of the students responded by standing and receiving a Book of Hope.

A huge thank you to all those who were praying for us, the local pastors (Nathan Keller), and our team Daryl Leibe (you get some of the props too... hey it's tough to be a farmer), Joe Hagemyer, DJ Steve Wade, Jerad Thomsen, and Gerad Strong.

    It was amazing

Pictured above is the mayor of Newell who is also a school bus driver, substitute teacher, and pastor of a small church. He suited up and took on one of the students during our evening rally! What a guy!

  • Great Connections

    Picture 3 I saw a recent commercial from Sprint advertising their new Everything plan. I was intrigued because the new CEO, Dan Hesse, posted his email address (dan@sprint.com) at the end of the commercial. So I thought I would send him a message. Here's how it read;

    "Dan,

Let me just say that I am a Verizon customer and have been mostly pleased with their customer service and coverage where I live in South Dakota. However, I am tempted to switch to Sprint, not because of your new everything plan (i think that's great), but because you plastered your email address on your commercials.

I could care less about being your customer so that I can be a statistic in your reports. I want to be a customer because I know I can contact the man in charge if I need to! I want to be connected to people.

Thanks for taking the lead in this. I hope that other large corporations follow your initiative!

    Mark"

    Here was the immediate response...

"Thank you for taking the time to write. To truly revolutionize wireless, we need your input. It’s people like you who are using our services everyday that can provide the best perspective. We'll be looking through all the ideas and feedback we receive.

This will, of course, take some time. I appreciate your patience until we can get you a response. A representative from my office will be contacting you in about a week.

In the meantime, if you are interested in learning more about our new Simply Everything plan, you can find the details at www.sprint.com/everything.

Once again, from all of us at Sprint, thank you.

    Dan Hesse
    President and CEO – Sprint"

What is your thoughts about this??? Did the auto responder help build a relationship or push me off as a statistic?

If you're going to throw out the welcome mat... don't lock the door.

  • Made to Be Wireless

    IMG_1304 Copied from www.iloveourfamily.com

This morning, after a restless night in my “cage” (the more realistic term for my hospital crib) the tubes and connections to the wall were removed.

After just 49 hours in the hospital I was set free and once again able to roam the globe, or at least the halls, in search of adventure.

My doctor came in this morning in absolute shock. He could not believe how well I responded to the treatments considering the condition I was in. He called me a “superstar.” I think he was wishing that all the other boys and girls could do as well as I did. So... I’d like to ask those of you who prayed for me; would you say a prayer for the other boys and girls in the pediatric ward? The need to be wireless too.

Thanks for your prayer and concern.

    I’m out!

  • South Dakota Churches Step Up!!!

El Salvador Desktop 2 Tuesday evening our churches really stepped up to the plate to show their support of students in missions. Though many of these churches and pastors have a lot of requests for offerings and have financial needs in their churches already... together they gave and committed $42,349.50 toward our evangelism efforts in El Salvador this next summer!

That puts us within $8,000.00 of our total project.

I would like to thank Jay Mooney, our national youth director, for his time and inspiring message. An incredible leader and man of God!

Special thanks as well to Bethel Assembly of God for providing the sound system, the youth pastors and leaders who helped with setup and clean up, the churches and pastors that took the time in advance to share the vision with their church, and all of those who gave sacrificially. We would also like to send our thanks to BGMC for sending $3,500.00 towards this goal, and for our sponsoring schools Trinity Bible College and North Central University for sponsoring a portion of the banquet and contributing $600.00 (combined) towards our project.

Though we still have about $8,000.00 to go, I feel very confident that the Lord will assist us in bringing it in.

    Blessings to all who gave.

  • Smackintosh???

Picture 1 I've noticed recently that my Windows was chewing up the space on my Mac Hard Drive. Though I rarely use windows software it ate up about 30 GB of space. Yikes.

Last night I ran a utility to clean some of that up and actually gained back about 13 GB of space. This morning I tried to run another utility to get just a bit more out of it and... crash. Somehow I tweaked a file and corrupted the entire Windows OS!

So today I'm reinstalling windows and all of the software that, unfortunately, I must use... like three programs. Should be done by noon today.

The cool thing... I'm still getting email, listing to iTunes, and surfing the web, all on my very stable, highly efficient Smackintosh. Yup you read it right... once again Mac smacks the PC.
