Clean up at Sheila's

It's impossible to describe the extent of the damage here in Cedar Rapids, but we can make it better a little at a time.  Today, Stefan, Patrick, Anna, Ellie and myself helped Sheila and her son with their flood-ravaged home on 8th Street.  Before it receded, the floodwater had filled their basement, and was 4-feet deep in their living room.  Every item in the home was covered with 1/2" of sewage and river-muck, and little was salvageable.  A pile of brown "stuff" probably 5'x20' now fills their yard and will soon be picked up by the city.  Tomorrow afternoon I'll get back to chip away at the mess some more, but it was a good opportunity to show the love of Jesus in a practical way.  Before we left, we were able to gather in Sheila's living room and pray together.  Thanks all, for your part - there's more, more, more - plenty more - to do.
Blessings, Phil

It is neat to hear about the stories of encouragement all over the state of Iowa. You are right...it is a great opportunity to show the love of Jesus.
