| TODAY, I finally received my Cell Phone Rebate Check in the Mail~!!!! Back in February of 2006, I decided to switch to Verizon during the time when the pink Razr came out. So, I bought my cell phone through Wirefly a.k.a Inphonic where it was listed for $249.99 with a $150.00 Rebate after 6 months of service as long as you were in "good standing" with the original carrier you signed up with. Reasonable request for a reasonable deal so I did what anyone would do and went for it. I even circled the exact date in my planner of when to mail out the rebate to assure prompt processing. After 1 month mailing out the rebate, I called cust. service only to be told that the address written on the application had changed and that I had the option of resending all the paperwork to the new address or wait till it was forwarded from the old one. So, I resent it to the new address thinking it would speed things up. However, on the contrary, 7 months became 8, and then 9, and still no reply. Slightly ticked off at this point, I decided to call and find out what was up. To my surprise, I was rudely informed that my rebate was rejected secondary to providing the wrong billing periods; I was 3 days early!!!! THREE DAYS EARLY? Since when is one penalized for being early??? I was speechless. And to add more fuel to the fire, when I offered to resend the additional bill, she said it was too late and that they don't reprocess rebate applications. WHAT THE F*CK KIND OF SH*T IS THAT.... ???? NO REPROCESSING REBATES????? I was extremely enraged at this point; I cursed her out, declared this whole rebate shindig a fraud, and threaten her that if I ever go to Minnesota, I would find her and shot her down. She replied calmly, "I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do.".. ~~I declared war at this point~~
I complained to the Better Business Bureau and 2 other consumer relations companies to report Inphonic/Wirefly's Fraudulent Rebate Scam and phoned the CEO of Inphonic. Luckily for the CEO, I spoke with his assistant who on the contrary, was very accomodating and transferred me to the Internal Rebate Center. I spoke to #2 customer rep. who repeated the same thing that #1 had told me, but instead, said she would waive this "one time error" and reprocess my rebate. I was told to check back in 2-3 weeks. Now, at this point, I was partially satisified but I knew it wasn't over until that check was in my hand. So, I followed up multiple times like a psycho serial killer. I again spoke with a number of representatives who told me things ranging from my rebate being approved to my payment would be sent out shortly. And at last after 13 months, I GOT MY $150.00 CHECK TODAY!!! I don't think I've ever worked soo hard in my life to get a measly $150.00 Rebate Check over the course of 13 months. Moral of the story: 1. Don't be fooled by cell phone rebates. 2. Don't be afraid to call the head asshole of the company 3. Do your research.. 4. Don't give up!! |
